In this after effects tutorial, I break down how I created this looping coffee animation. This is the second part of the coffee animation. I explore workflow, easing, anticipation & 2D transitions. This tutorial is suitable for intermediate users. Please leave a comment if you'd like me to explain anything I skimmed over.
I'm uploading new motion design & animation tutorials every Thursday!

It's nice to hear you say that someone could easily spend all day in the graph editor getting a movement just right, because sometimes I'll spend an hour trying to get a single move right and wonder if other pros take nearly as long.
I love how you make everything in After Effects seem so easy and doable
God damnit all of these videos are gold where have you been all my life
Thanks so much! I really appreciate the support :D

Amazing tutorials I LOVE IT,
i wish if you could make a specific video for the graph editor, You are just Amazing tutor thb!
keep making more and keep up the good job :)
Thanks so much! oooooo I would love to do a video just on the graph editor. It's definitely the most cary element in AE, but probably the most important.
@@BenMarriott yes i love using it, but i know only to easy ease with f9 and the choose speed graph and play with the curves, thats it... But i so some amazing techniques in this video and i would love to learn more of those 😍😇
This is a amazing animation! 😄 Thank you for video
Genius
haha, thank you so much :)
Ben, this series is awesome can you come up with more smoothly transition that you use in your project
You are the Bob Ross of animations 😁👍
Thank you so much! That's huge praise
Great!
Thank you so much :)
LOL was wondering last time how u morphed the 2 shapes into the yingyang, but now seeing that u dont really have to do anything else than time it right at the fastest moment is great ! sometimes the simplest solutions are the best ;)
Thanks so much! Right?! if you get the motion right, you can do almost anything and it'll look fine. It feels like slight of hand sneaking in a new shape under the viewers nose. haha
thanks thanks sooooooooooooooooo much
Haha, you're welcome sooooooooooooooooo much :)
Great work! Sweet animation and clearly explained. I may use some tips from this in my upcoming video (will credit you ofcourse)
Thank you so much, that'd be great! :)
@@BenMarriott I did it! I animated a short Bruce Lee interview segment: czcams.com/video/o19PR8dS7iA/video.html and mentioned you in the video description :)
Where's part 3? I want the splash :(
Great info in that man, can you just do more about more complex transitions?
can u plz make a tutorial for the splash effect..
Thank you! Is there a tutorial how to make the liquid in the coffee cups? 😬
how did you do the coffee splash in the beginning
hey i enjoyed the video .. but couldnt find the splash transition you said in the part 1
_excited fan
Thx Ben , it was a great Tutorial as always
and thx god finally someone is using value graph 😂
every video i watch in youtube they are using speed graph
i really don't know the reason , speed graph is so ugly lol
but value .... i am so in love with that
Thanks so much! Right?! I hate having to use the speed graph. It's not intuitive for me at all. I've gotten a little more comfortable in it, because it's sometimes a little easier to explain separating x and y position values. But the value graph is just so much nicer to use.
@@BenMarriott
your opinion remind me of JOEY KORENMAN 😂 and i agree with you , we are exactly same about this graph lol
i just hope both we'll get used to it
thx man
Try to smooth out path animations with value graph. ;) that's just one flat line. That's where the speed graph develops its power. It's always good to get used to both graphs. But in total i agree with you: the value graph is way more intuitiv.
@@rbsn3d yeahhhh you right about that
we should know how to use both
can you please show the work people have done inspired by your videos .??
.
and great straight forward tutorial as alwayes
Thank you so much for watching. I'm sharing those amazing work done by those amazing individuals on my Instagram stories at the moment :)
Is there any alternative way to get those circles to rotate in sync without pick-whipping them to a null object's rotation property?
Not that I'm aware of. AE may be keeping some dark secrets from me though
question! why do you like editing the value in graph editor? i always edit the speed graph instead.
what are the differences/advantages they have?
also loving your tutorials so far! dare i say the best AE tutorial channel for me!
Thanks so much! I find visualising it way more intuitive :)
maruhodo, i think of the speed graph as the lazy way to do keyframes, while the value graph editor you can do way more and have more control on the animation :)
whats the shortcut for "size", im unable to use it, only know scale
Cute tutorial from a cute guy with a cute smile. :D
Haha, thank you so much for the sweet comment :)
Awesome, tho your mic could use a volume boost/maybe use the audition podcast preset, easy to use, quick results. :)
Thank you! I suck at mixing, haha Trying to get better every video. Appreciate the feedback :D
Goooooood tutorial.
When you are continue this tutorial?
Thank you so much! This is the last break down of this particular animation. But I will make something very similar in the near future! Thank you for your support, stay tuned :)
@@BenMarriott I wanted to know how you morphed the shapes into the coffee beans
where's the video with the animating the coffee swoosh
No clue how you got "size"? Can't find it. Only says scale
how do i get this??!!
is there going to be a part 3 for the last bit?
This is the last part of this series, I hope I made the workflow easy to understand :)
@@BenMarriott Yes you did and thanks for that! I was just wondering how you did the splash animation in the coffee :)
naisu
Do you mean "nice"? Haha cute! Thank you :)
@@BenMarriott Derived from the Korean pronunciation of 'nice'
HAIRCUT
haha, you noticed! Thank you so much for watching :)
@@BenMarriott not to shortchange the tutorial! very good stuff!
where is the splash? :')
it's just a path animation
Great video! You go a little to fast for me, but i guess it´s probably my fault
Thanks so much! Not your fault at all. I'll try to slow down next time :D
@@BenMarriott Thanks!
从B站过来找你啦,开心o(* ̄▽ ̄*)ブ
Haha that's awesome! Thank you for the support :)
:D
Thank you :)
what a shame... why you did no explained step by step??
bro...you need to SLOW DOWN. A newbie is NOT going to be able to follow your steps as you absolutely BLITZ through every single step in 2 seconds. You're approaching this tutorial as if the viewer knows as much about AE as you do, and that's definitely not the reality.
ahmm... i think, this tutorial is not for the newbies.
