Notice that there are three singers and one mike. No autotune, and their harmony had to be perfect for the entire song, and it is.

Pure talent. They wrote these songs, sang them without autotune, accompanied by real musicians actually playing their instruments, and donated all of the proceeds from this performance to charity.

The Bee Gees wrote & released Too Much Heaven in 1978. It was climbing charts world wide (already #1 in US & Canada, #3 in UK) before the Jan 1979 fundraiser, “Music for UNICEF.” They then donated, in perpetuity, ALL their royalties, not just from the UNICEF event, merch & compilation album (as the other bands did, though some just for a limited time), but also their publishing rights. So, UNICEF continues to get paid, from anyone’s version & any use (including in movies, TV, commercials, etc). As the 1st band to make such a donation to charity, they were recognized for it by UN Secretary General, Kurt Waldheim & invited to the White House by President Carter. The last official tally I saw was 2017, saying UNICEF had received more than $11 million from it, for emergency food & healthcare. I’ve seen others post it hit 20 million as of 2019, but I haven’t found a solid source for that. Barry included the song on his 2021 hit album, Greenfields, so that (duet with Alison Krauss) will bring UNICEF even more $$.

  • @lydiabugner6437
    @lydiabugner6437 Před rokem +2

3 brothers who grew up in Australia singing together as kids and writing and performing music since teenagers in late 50s and early 60s. They wrote music and lyrics and sang all of their own songs, as well as writing songs for other performers. Their harmonizing is natural and not forced. No auto tune on these songs. No formal music training. These are just their natural singing voices and harmonizing together. Started performing and recording in the 60s back in England. This is one of their most beautiful love songs. Music, lyrics and singing are perfect. And their songs got better and better over the years. And now their children are performing and touring. Barry, the oldest, is the only one left alive now but he is still writing and producing music and mentoring young musicians, after 64 years. If you want something different, listen to High Civilization album.

This is from the 1970s, The Bee Gees are a group of three brothers, Barry (the lead singer in this), Robin, and Maurice (the one with the beard), their last name is Gibb, Brothers Gibb = BGs so The Bee Gees. They were originally from the UK, but moved to lived in Australia when they were young, they had many hits from the late '60s through to the '80s and beyond, they wrote all of their songs. Some songs to check out by them are: 'You Should be Dancing', 'Night Fever', 'Staying Alive', 'More Than a Woman', 'How Deep is Your Love', and 'Jive Talkin'.

If you start with their earliest years (1950's) and go through their latest as a group (2003 when Maurice died)-- you will see how they adapted to various styles of music and kept relevant. I particularly like their Still Waters album of 1997, but to get a true appreciation of their ability to adapt, I'd start at the beginning. :) Robin died in 2012 and Barry is the only brother remaining. Love, love, love the Bee Gees. I am a black female, 67 yrs old, grew up with them. (A bit lengthy, but a must read.) The Bees Gees: (from left to right) Robin, Barry and Maurice (pronounced Morris)
    Maurice (Dec 22, 1949 - Jan. 12, 2003.)
Robin (Dec. 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012.) Maurice and Robin were fraternal twins.
Barry (the middle) said, 'I'm the last man standing.' He will be 76 on September 1, 2022, which is also the 52nd wedding anniversary with Linda. They have 5 adult children and 7 grandchildren. Barry's voice is a bit more mellow since he is older, but he continues to perform to sellout crowds!!
Andy Gibb, the youngest brother, had his own successful career. He was 12 yrs younger than Barry. He and Barry looked so much alike, that they could had been twins! Andy passed away in 1988, at the age of 30. Barry stated that Andy lived the 'LA lifestyle' involving drugs, and he had heart problems. The brothers wrote all of his songs.
On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley, who turned 78, January 12, 2022. Maurice passed on the same day as her 58th birthday. 😪Lesley didn't have an interest to be in the limelight, but she can sing. At about the age of 2, Barry reached on the table and a pot of hot tea fell on his chest and arms. You can see the shine on his chest. His mom said he did not talk for almost 2 yrs. Skin grafts were not used in the 40s, so he was in the hospital for a long time. His mom said he almost died.
They wrote all of their songs, and songs for other singers, which they recorded after the songs were released for the other singers. The brothers have a VERY IMPRESSIVE catalogue of songs! You may have already listened to the following.
I recommend the following songs: How Deep Is Your Love? czcams.com/video/XpqqjU7u5Yc/video.html Closer Than Close czcams.com/video/m6XIdjEHLRs/video.html One czcams.com/video/KRUeMgzOCCo/video.html You Win Again czcams.com/video/KZY9oYSSjFI/video.html Spirits (Having Flown) czcams.com/video/ONmVEJnxysc/video.html Bodyguard czcams.com/video/Fx5XwIKCs3o/video.html Emotion (Destiny's Child did a cover on this, but IMO Samantha Sang (original) is MUCH better. czcams.com/video/b_wTZjo9azk/video.html At one time 5 of their songs were in the top 10. Another time, four of the songs that were written by them for others were in the top 5. A song that Barry wrote for Andy was #2, but then it went to #1, and the Bee Gees song became #2.

Wow THANKS a lot Brenda. I think the bee gees had an impressive and amazing talents (their singing and writing ability) but what captured me most is the fighting spirit Barry had to be alive when he was a patient with serious injury at such a young age, since hearing this song have got a great respect for them and have been doing more songs from them....I really thank you for this wonderful enlightenment

Here's another favorite of mine. The brothers wrote the songs on her CD. Barry did a few duets with her. Guilty czcams.com/video/h27J_95OtQA/video.html.
I wrote 2 more stories about their youth and how mischievous they were. But I deleted it by mistake. Sorry.
Some forget that they recorded one song that was written by someone else. The song is: Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? It was written by Carole King for a female group of the 1960s. Then she recorded it. They did a fantastic rendition!!! The video is awesome! Other than that song, the others are their own!

Thank you for not interrupting and commenting. I've liked and subscribed to your channel. No auto tune (wasn't around in the 70s) and no pitch correction, just three beautiful harmonious voices. This is the music of my era and at 69 years of age, I still love the Bee Gees. Check out Fanny Be Tender, How Deep is Your Love, Alone, and many others.

During their career peak, the movie Saturday Night Fever had five of their hit songs embedded into the soundtrack which four went to occupy the four top spots on the 100 billboards that year alone. No other group has done it since. The Bee Gees will go down in history as the most original family group of singers of the century. Talent for singing, writing, executing, producing, and arranging all instruments to give their songs their most angelic sounds ever created. And this was without computers or any other sound altering devices. What you hear, is what they actually sound like on stage or in the studio. Barry Gibb (Center) Maurice Gibb (Left) and Robin Gibb (Right) leave many fans in tears with their heartfelt lyrics which gave hope to all who listened to them. The only one you didn't see present was their fourth brother Andy Gibb, who had his own successful career as a solo artist. But, he too had the same drive, the same writing ability and a wonderful fan base to give all four brothers a much deserved space in the Hall of Fame both in the US and the UK. RIP to Andy, Maurice, and Robin. May their singing last while they bounce around the universe.

Too Much Heaven. The video is from the Bee Gee's live performance at The Music for UNICEF Concert: A Gift of Song. It was a benefit concert of popular music held in the United Nations General Assembly in New York City on January 9, 1979. It was intended to raise money for UNICEF world hunger programs and to mark the beginning of the International Year of the Child. The concert was videotaped and broadcast the following day on NBC in the U.S. and around the world. The Bee Gees gave UNICEF rights to all royalties from the song. It's raised about $13 Million for UNICEF thus far.

They started singing together as little boys. Their mum was a singer in the UK gave it up to have kids. Their harmonies are so practised, it's like instinct. They wrote the song, so know it so well, it's easy. Barry can do the same thing 5 times in a row, with exactly the same notes, timing and inflection. Pure musical talent, it doesn't hurt that he often writes the music. They were signed at ages 6 and 9, in the 60's, the parents had to agree and sign them up, as they were legally too young to sign contracts.

they became really popular in the u.s. in the later 1970's, when the movie "night fever" came out starring john travolta. i was in middle school then. at least with most of my schoolmates, the bee gees were considered uncool. but i always enjoyed listening to them. great vocals, unmatched harmonies, good songs. as i have gotten older, i appreciate and enjoy their singing a lot more.
