It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats. This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad!

The BeeGees are from the era where singers had to have real talent. I love when you said Barry was switching his voice. All the Gibb brothers could sing in that amazing falsetto voice, but Barry and their younger brother Andy Gibb had more control of it. Barry could sing in falsetto and simultaneously also sing in vibrato. That's pretty rare to find in a singer. Andy Gibb had an incredible solo music career in the late 70's and the 80's, but very sadly, he died in 1988 at the age of 30.

Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍 I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would sound like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️

The Brothers Gibb ...... Professionally known as 'The Bee Gees.' Open your eyes. You have to see them singing also.
    (1) Maurice (on the right - pronounced Morris) passed away in 2003. To make a long story short, while on his way to surgery for his intestines, he had a heart attack, yet the doctors operated anyway. (I heard Barry say this on a video.) He was in the hospital for only 2 days!
    (2) Robin (on the left) fraternal twin of Maurice, passed away 2012, after the diagnosis of colon cancer.
    (3) Andy, the youngest brother, who had his own successful career, died of inflammation of the muscles surrounding the heart, because of years of drug abuse. He passed in 1988, at the age of 30.
The 3 brothers were also married and had children.
Barry (in the middle) said, "I am the last man standing." Barry is the eldest of the brothers.
On September 1, 2021, he and his wife, Linda will celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary, which will also be Barry's 75th birthday. They have 5 adult children, and 7 grandchildren. The Bee Gees have sold over 220 million records worldwide (more by now.) They were also writers for many other artists. Barry just completed a new project called 'Greenfields: The Gibb Brothers Songbook.' It is very nice!
On a side note, their sister, Lesley, who is the first born, was 77 in January, 2021. She lives a quiet life with her family.
After the movie 'Saturday Night Fever' was completed, the director felt the movie needed a different style of music. In comes the Bee Gees. Their songs replaced Boz Skaggs and Stevie Wonder's songs. {Anyway Stevie Wonder was busy during the 70s. He recorded at least 5 albums.
} They wrote all of their songs.
You will like: How Deep Is Your Love ---- Staying Alive ---- Night Fever ---- Emotion

People love The Bee Gees. I do too (especially their 1960s songs like "To Love Somebody"-and I would absolutely seek that song out, whether or not you would want to react to it). There is another group that sang just as well, and from whom The Bee Gees borrowed a lot for their 1970s sound: American R&B group, The Stylistics.
The Stylistics had major R&B and pop hits in the early 1970s: "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "Betcha By Golly, Wow", "You Are Everything", "Stop, Look, Listen", and "I'm Stone in Love with You". Russell Thompkins, Jr. was their falsetto lead singer, and he was amazing. My mom had all their records when I was a little girl in the 1970s.

Here are some facts about the Bee Gee's:
1.Barry Gibbs is 2 years older than I am. I grew up in this Era called DISCO.
2.Barry was the lead singer and his brother's were mostly backup, but all 3 were GREAT.
3.This was Family Harmony at its best.
    (Three voices sounds like one).
4.They were a normal band until they tried something different.
5.It was an accident, they decided to sing "FALSETTO" for fun.
6.The people loved it, and DEMANDED more.
7 This became their unique, signature sound, and trademark that shot them to the top.
    8. Barry was the lead singer, Robin and Maurice HARMONIZED ALSO IN FALSETTO.
9.Their unique sound that made them famous.
10 If you listen close you can hear the Falsetto of all 3.
    11. It became their standard. The Disco Era was dying at this point.
    12. The Bee Gee's Music, breathed new life into the Disco Era.
13, That kept DISCO alive and popular for many more years.
    14. The Bee Gee's wrote 1030 songs in their life.
15.They wrote many songs, for other famous artist, who made those songs famous.
16.They broke many long standing records, in their lifetime.
    17. They wrote all of their own music.
    18. And all 3 played instruments themselves.
    19. They would be honored that a new generation is hearing their music.
    20. Feel free to check out my facts for yourself.

All three of these guys are brothers. Hence what their group is actually called The Brothers Gibb but they go by the Bee Gees for short. The one in the middle is the oldest his name is Barry. The other two are fraternal twin brothers Maurice and Robin. Maurice and Robin have passed on so Barry's the only ones still alive. They also had a younger brother Andy Gibb. You should check out Andy Gibb's songs I just want to be your everything and Shadow dancing both really good songs.

The Bee Gees go back to when I was younger, I'm way older than you. To see your smile during this song was so cool. A lot of the older stuff was great, but there are great artists today as well. There was less technology back then so music was more natural and unprocessed. Check out The Lettermen singing "Shangri La" for something a little older than this that is really good.
