    *Congenital Granular Cell Epulis, a mesenchymal tumor with marked female predilection (10:1, F:M).
    It develops in-utero with rapid growth during the third trimester. Huge lesions like this may cause breathing and feeding difficulties and will require surgical excision.
    Diagnosis is confirmed by observing S-100-negative sheets of granular cells on microscopy.
    As a distinction, the conventional granular cell tumor (Abrikossoff's tumor) is positive for S-100.*

    this was the most thorough explanation of this topic i have ever seen, thank you. when you said that we should provide antibiotic coverage during the extraction and healing period, this means providing antibiotic prophylaxis for example one hour before the appointment? also please doctor what should be the regimen of antibiotic for the extraction and for the healing? thank you so much!!

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  Před 3 lety +2

      Glad to hear you enjoyed it! And it is not "antibiotic prophylaxis" in the traditional sense. You would prescribe a full course of antibiotics for them to take so they are covered for the extraction and the healing period thereafter (at least one week). You could use Amoxicillin 500mg as an example.

      @anaalikajsimo8590 Před 3 lety +1

      Xgeva (chemical name: denosumab) can also cause osteonecrosis of the jaw. Xgeva is used to reduce bone complications and bone pain caused by advanced-stage breast cancer that has spread to the bone. Symptoms of osteonecrosis of the jaw include: pain, swelling, redness, or other signs of infection in the gums.
