Which of these three cars - the Maruti Suzuki Ignis, Tata Punch or Nissan Magnite - would you like in your garage?

  • @srschhina5295
    @srschhina5295 Před 2 lety +17

Have had no interaction with the Tata Punch or Nissan Magnite.
However, as an Ignis Zeta manual petrol owner for 4 years, can list some pro’s
    1) Very good quality fasteners, rubber parts hoses, bulbs etc.
    2) Excellent seats and driving position. Simple but elegant dashboard.
    3) Very nicely setup suspension. Slightly stiff, which is good actually.
    4) Reasonably good headlights. Auxiliary factory fitted fogs are great too.
    5) Great petrol engine. Regularly returns 16-17 Kms in the City and 22-24km/l on highways.
    6) High seating position, quality seats, easy to get in and get out....good for seniors and people with back issues.
    7) Good quality factory fitted alloys and Bridgestone tyres.
    8) Quite a silent cabin with little road and wind noise at sensible speeds.
    9) I have done 42000 km. Have just changed one wiper blade till date. No other issues, whatsoever.
    10) No niggles, whatsoever.
    Con’s
    1) A 40 litre fuel tank would have been great. It is equipped with a 32 lit tanks still has a highway range of approx 700 Km.
    2) Probably less resale value inspite of being one of the best hatchback Maruti ever made. Ironic, it’s not appreciated and accepted by the masses.
    A great car friends, imho.

The ignis 3 star rating is most underrated car of Maruti I test drive it in 2017 but maruti nexa came with a solution with the 2020 facelift...

As a magnite owner, obviously i will put plus points as below. ( base to base comparison)
    1. Magnite has more length, so obviuosly more leg room in the back seat. More confortable seating position with laid back seat more wider also. It also has very small bump in middle, so more comfortable for 3 adults.
    2. Power windows in rare seats, and seperate cabin lights for rare passengers, adjustable head rests, So pt#1 and pt#2 definetely makes magnite much better for person sitting in the rare seat. I take this as very big plus point for a family car in budget and person sitting in rare seat does not feel totally ignored feeling like siting in the 20 year old car.
    3. Apart from above, magnite has rare fogger and wiper(which is actually a very good feature, unless anyone has experienced it), better ground clearance, vanity mirror, better dashboard design and quality, much better looking rare profile, tilt stearing heights, 16 inch tyres, good looking wheel caps(if dont want to upgrade to alloys), flat boot, Roof rails, bumper skid plates for 3k extra, alloy wheels for 32k only(since wheel size is same, only need to change rims), definitely quite less body roll as has longer and wider wheelbase with less height.
While punch has the main advantage of TATAs name and service network and new patentented tech of locking the wheel to get out of muddy places, while other advantage are only minor such as engine power and safety rating. If someone has booked magnite base variant at 4.99 lacs and just adds the music system and central locking, then at older on road price of 6.2 lacs one is getting a better car then even the 2nd top model of tata punch, apart from some area mentioned above. Almost 2 lacs of difference.

The Magnite is a seriously good looking car! It really is.
The Magnite does not underperform like the Punch. The Ignis is smooth with its 1.2L NA unit. The Magnite Turbo is the one, not the 1.0L NA unit. Ignis is a joy to drive. Overall.
The base level Magnite provides massive appeal. It rides well, NVH levels would be great. The interiors are alright. I particularly like the Urus like air-con vents! 360 degree camera and the wireless AA/ACP is a good deal. Spacious as well?!
I personally like the Magnite, but the Tata Punch could sell just as well as the Ignis as it provides great VFM!

But the NA version is very harsh and the suspension didn't feel sophisticated. Maruti cars were crossed out as I prioritise safety and even the nios is 2star gncap rated. So the only option was the Punch and I was impressed by the build when I experienced it on the showroom(no test drive though :( ). Very Accurate review. The Punch, even though overpriced, doesn’t really have a direct rival. Yes you can move a segment higher and grab lower or mid spec variants of bigger cars but then again that’s what they are, lower or mid spec variants. A correct comparison would be between similar spec variants and that leaves Punch with the complete segment for itself. Yes, Tata could have priced the Punch more aggressively but even while going for the top spec variant, there is no real competition for the car as the other compact suv top variants are costlier or the hatchbacks are just smaller.

@@evoIndia People buy according to price in India. If one gets a Turbo engine at the price of a NA engine then that's what they'll buy. Magnite NA is cheaper by a lakh compared to Punch. And the Turbo variants are priced similar to Punch. Magnite offers a lot more usable features and space compared to Punch. The pros of Punch are negated by a way more superior Engine and drivetrain combo of the Magnite. So, you guys comparing Magnite NA to the Punch seems illogical to me even more so cause evo India stands for "Thrill of Driving" and punch doesn't pack a punch in that department.
