Thank you for your videos and the extremely useful information you provide.
Got a planned tigh plasty for mid October ( after 120 pounds weight loss through gastric bypass) and as a Fitzpatrick type 4-5 this video about scars and will watch the others this one was very interesting, especially since my tummy tuck scar from 2 years ago is still very visible (it's healed properly) due to my skin colour despite using bi-oil and massaging, but will reuse that and look into scar creams. Seeing my gastric bypass surgeon tomorrow who has my bloodwork results of 3year post op, so will make sure I'm fully loaded on vitamin C and all vitamins.
I know from watching both tigh plasty videos that it's going to be painful. Post-op I will have 1 week off work, but then will have to go back to teaching. Appart from working from a standing position, what other things can be done to relieve pain ?

Hi Tana, thanks for watching and congratulations on your weight loss and upcoming surgery! The benefit of a thighplasty incision is that it is very well hidden but scar color can still sometimes be an issue. Adding in BioCorneum to your post op scar care may help this time around.
Pain after a thighlift can linger for several weeks, moving carefully and with intention can help prevent/minimize painful pulling on the incision line. Compression garments or leggings may also be helpful, especially once you return to work. Having extra pillows or a tall stool to half-sit on to give your legs a break at work would be a good idea too.

Hi Dr. Martin. I missed this show but I do have a question. Can you talk about Vein therapy for hands?

Hi Sheila! That's a great topic for a future episode. Thank you!

Thanks for answering my question. I asked it on one of brachioplasty episodes because I’m concerned about the scar. All of the pics I’ve seen, not just in your videos but all doctors on CZcams on brachioplasty scarring have been in Caucasian women. I’ve decided I’d rather have the scar than the bulge but im still extremely anxious about the scar. I’m wondering if a scar revision would help me if my scar doesn’t fade

Hi Snowcat, thank you for the great question! We understand how challenging it can be to find diverse before and after pictures! Our producer, Nils, has commented many times on how hard it is to even find stock photos. I recommend looking at all the scar photos from your prospective surgeon(s) to get an idea of how their scars heal/look overall. Your own personal history of scarring will give you a good idea of how you tend to scar in different areas of your body and you can then discuss your specific healing/scarring concerns with your surgeon.

Thank you so much! I’m one week post op from my brachioplasty. My surgeon did my breast reduction when I had a lumpectomy for breast cancer. At that point I didn’t care about the scars. But they have faded well with no treatment. He said that may be an indication that my arms will also heal well. But he said that there are things we can do to reduce the appearance but only time will tell how it goes.
