looks like the rings warmed up and got sized . I was telling myself "those rings look too tight" as you were installing them. Sure enough they were. Just make the gap bigger and you'll have no problems.

I just posted a similar comment. I hope they didn’t shatter in the bore. I was say the same thing …. RING GAP Tim… RING GAP!!! It’s too tight. Guess he didn’t hear us

@@TheDistur probably pretty big I would assume maybe like .05", I'm guessing

@@TheDistur well… consider the stroke and what I would imagine to be a fairly large differential tolerance from top to bottom… with one end being bigger then the other ( cone ). Speculation of course, but most likely. Therefore that gap would be rather large to accommodate the operating stroke average. PLUS … piston rings seal best by the pressure passing THRU THE GAP… this pressure keeps the rings expanded to the cylinder wall.

PISTON RINGS must FLOAT. The GAP is super important. The GAP of the RING Must never MEET as this will cause the ring to SHATTER. I have a feeling that is what happened. The upper rings shattered… I hope I’m wrong. This hammer is so awesome

For what it's worth. Most light aircraft piston engines are opposed. So when you put the case halves together, you can't use a gasket because that gasket would cause the piston stroke to be longer. (I realize what I've told you might be confusing, but knowing you, if you look at an aircraft engine you'll figure it out in seconds) Ok, so you can't use seals or sealant to seal the crankcase of an opposed, but it still has to be sealed so your oil doesn't leak out. So what we use is silk thread. What we do is put on a sticky substance all around the case halve surfaces. (Something like you find on the fingers of a child after eating cotton candy) Then you start by leaving the first 2"' thread off the end and start weaving back and forth all the way around. You want to keep in mind that you'll be laying a second silk thread next to it. You want to weave the silk back and forth to create as much surface area as possible and leaving about 2" hang off the end. You have created a impenetrable seal that's the thickness of a silk thread squeezed flat between 2 pieces of steel. And for god's sake, if you're ever looking at your friends aircraft engine, don't pull on those threads. You'll be breaking down an engine to seal it back up. For what it's worth.

  • @emmithoyl3608

I’m saying the upper die key came loose and is wedged up against the ram guide… Happened to my 2B. After spending a long time trying to find a solution I ended up turning it back on and slammed the pedal down to get the ram unstuck, then pulled the air away before the ram went back up. Amazingly it didn’t cause any damage to the guide.

I can't help you by buying a shirt, Timothy. I'm sorry.
But what I CAN DO is help you by saving up for one of those super sick 1919 Blackhawk hatchets.
I'm an avid amateur Axe Thrower, and I just got my DREAM JOB last month at an Axe Throwing bar. So far, I'm making decent money on tips, anywhere from 50-100 dollars a night on weekends (plus i get my usual hourly wage, which is 11/hr so it's decent enough). I may have the funds within two weeks, maybe within three weeks (save for any unexpected bills). I can't wait to amaze my coworkers with the quality of your product and then tell them the story behind how it was made and SHOW THEM how it was made. I really hope I can get a spot on pre-order.
    Love you brother, take care.

And I would love to buy a bottle opener, but 120$ shipping (to germany) for a 35$ opener is just not going to happen.
