I think Google is doing the right thing by focusing on year over year improvement. That's how Apple got to be as big as they are. The other thing is Google needs to sell their products in more countries if they really want to grow their hardware base.

Google Pixel needs its software and hardware and features, also to work in other countries outside North America, Europe, Australia.. It should also make versions that will work in other countries. Features such as E-Sim, Call screening are not available in all countries.

I was stuck with iPhone for ten years and Pixel was the best way to leave them. I personally have never dealt with any Pixel bug. After a while you realize Apple doesn't innovate, why does Siri still suck, why are you still forced to arrange a home screen icons how they want you to, why do you have to pay $999+ for hardware features that Apple says are "pro" but yet find the same 'pro" features on sub $800 Androids.. just a thought. But again to each their own.

I've been a strictly apple user since the first iPhone (I was 21 when it was released) ever since then I've had just about every iPhone. I started yearly upgrading with the 11 pro. This year I got the iPhone 15 pro. I watched the pixel keynote and was impressed. When pre order rolled around I pre ordered the 8 pro and the regular 8 to see what one I like better. It was a fairly easy crossover. I've never used a android and I must say I was impressed with Google OS. I thought I wasn't gonna like it at all and not get the hang of it but I am. I went with the 8 pro and my husband is going to use the pixel 8 I bought. He switched from iPhone to the flip 5 this year and it wasn't such a easy transition for him. So he's wants to try the pixel out. I also went with the pixel watch 2 (I had the series 8 Apple watch) and I went with the pixel buds pro. So far loving everything about the switch.

Instead I got an iPhone 15 Pro Max through a carrier deal to go along with my iPad Pro and MacBook Pro. I was tired of missing the texts in my family’s group chat. But I won’t be getting another Apple Watch. I like my Pixel Watch much better and was never a fan of the Apple Watch. I’m going to try to find a deal on a Pixel 8 Pro so I can just roll with both. Life’s too short to just deal with Apple’s boring trajectory. I’m already missing the Pixel camera and am finding it more difficult to get clear shots on this iPhone. Just keep in mind that the iPhone 15 series does not have a physical sim that can easily be swapped out between it and your android phone when you get bored with one. This was why I returned my iPhone 15 Pro Max and then bought a premium renewed iPhone 13 Pro Max from Amazon. And tomorrow, I should receive a new Pixel 8 that I am trading in my good old Pixel 5 for (Black Friday deal $550-$230 for the Pixel 5=$320.) This way I can have both and just switch back and forth.

I switch between Pixel phones and iPhones, and while I stand by my opinion that Android is much more intuitive to use than iOS, their hardware Avd software issues are persistent. App crashes, overheating, failing hardware, sluggish performance, poor reception all still plague Pixel phones. iPhones are expensive, but they are made extremely well and rarely do I ever have any hardware issues or major software bugs. Out of the roughly 6 Pixel phones I've owned, most of them had some sort of serious issue, and it's just hard to be loyal to a phone that is so reliably unreliable. The ecosystem and reliability of iPhones are unmatched. I looked into Pixel - which was a different phone back then (allowing icon shape change anyone?) and the Pixel 5 just had everything I wanted then. I don't regret leaving Apple then - and I was DEEP into the ecosystem! I had the watch AND an iPad hooked to my phone! I didn't care, I wanted a home button (3 button navigation) and Touch ID! So I left Apple and switched to Pixel.
I am now at a point where I'd like to go back to Apple. I didn't think much about leaving Pixel until I got the Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2. I thought this was going to be the BEST Pixel phone yet. Got it October 2023, It's June 2024 and I am on my 3rd Pixel 8 Pro! Now I know why they said the hardware isn't good!
My 1st Pixel 8 Pro had a horrible random restart issue, it would reboot BY ITSELF whenever it wanted. Sometimes it'd be on the table doing nothing, sometimes I'd be scrolling, sometimes I'd be showing someone something on my phone. HATED it!
Got sent a 2nd Pixel 8 Pro and everything seemed good. Well why wouldn't my Pixel Watch 2 suddenly not connect to Cellular? Google and Verizon tried EVERYTHING - even sending a 2nd watch (it didn't connect either so it wasn't the watch) the only thing that fixed it was getting a THIRD Pixel 8 Pro. And truthfully, I prefer the square watch face of my old Apple Watch 3 anyway.
I have now given gestures a try after using 3 button navigation forever. I still prefer my Touch ID over Face ID...but I'd say after seeing the upcoming iOS 18 for the iPhone, they're actually getting MORE customization than Pixel at this point. But I am stuck with the choice I made for now. Once this Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel Watch 2 are paid off...I am coming back to Apple. Only Touch ID, emoji kitchen, Magic Eraser, call screening and a few other things I'd likely miss from Pixel. It's okay, maybe next time I will get a phone with forced Face ID and no option of Touch ID, but at least it'll likely actually work right the first time.

No, no they shouldn’t. Even Google knows iPhones are superior than Pixels, that is why they offer more trade in value for iPhones than their own Pixels. They really don’t care about what the existing owners feel about that. If they really valued their customers, they would offer more trade in value for their devices than iOS. Even in some Google or Android apps, they feature iPhones.

I just did after 15 years of iPhones (don't like where Apple is going tbh). Got a Pixel 7a which is a greatly priced smartphone (399 and it's Kudos to Google for coming up with such a phone at such a price) and transition was surprisingly smooth (transferring all data from the iPhone). I'm actually really satisfied and Android is packed with all sorts of things that I find much more user friendly than iOS (really nice OS too). And I'm not a nerd by any means. I just want things that work and are easy to operate. Was about to take the plunge on the Pixel 8 but then I've found the 7a which is almost half price and does a real lot. Couldn't be happier.

I'm planning my switch from 10 years of IPhone to Pixel. After reading & watching countless videos, there are still many unresolved issues with no solution (yet):
    - Airpod Pro 2 are irreplaceable (the PixelBuds are nowhere close in micro & noise cancelation quality)
    - Apple watch is far better than the Pixel watch
    - I can't airplay music to my home theater system
    - I can't remote the Apple TV any longer
    - I can't transfer the Apple live photos to Google Photos without losing the live feature :(
    - Find-My : I could use the Apple Website to use find-my for my remaining apple products
    - Linking Apple Notes with Google Keep should be feasible but not sure
    - I can't airdrop full resolution photos to my macbook and, worse, not to anyone I encounter on a trail or a hike in the nature without access to internet etc.
Once I figure out solutions for the problems listed above, I will switch.
The camera on the Pixel 8 Pro is far superior (not only from a technical, aka sensor size, perspective but also from a usability & feature perspective: the Pixel lets you take long-exposure shots and motion-blur shots for fast moving objects).
I wish it was easier to switch..

iPhone users are not critical thinkers. They buy whatever apple produce, and never look beyond the apple eco system. To most iPhone users, everything else is just not an iPhone... and therefore is just not on their radar. As a user of both android and apple phones... I would love to not have to use the iPhone at all. If google dumb-down android to attract iPhone users, it will degrade the user experience and reduce the adaptability and flexibility of android phones and tablets.

The level of customization is awful.

Want to turn off your location, that's fine but the phone will give you a popup when you do ANYTHING to tell you that location is off.

Hilarious, the Apple store is a dreadful experience and the Apple eco system is just a set of bad decisions. Apple relies on product placement, marketing and people not doing any research when buying producta. In 2023 it is very hard to think of a single reason to buy any Apple product. Pixel is just one of many superior alternatives. Also cross platform support is more important than an eco system

What you say about these to phone makers is mostly true but where Google innovates and gives users what they want, Apple detracts in the name of innovation. They did away with expanded storage but so did everyone else. the straw that broke the camel's back though was doing away with the sim card in favor of e sim in the US. an obvious attempt to build carrier loyalty. i own the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max and have no intention of upgrading. i already own the Pixel 7 series and find them fast becoming my daily driver. I'll wait until the next iteration and then it's goodbye Apple and hello google. Thanks
