so basically, when she talks about how she 'just drove by your house', she's not talking about like a lover or anything. she actually had to leave her own family when she was only a teenager so that's what she was referring to when she said 'so far from you now' (she talks about how she had to leave her home to go become a trainee). the scenes where she was in that house filled with roses at the end was a symbolism of her visiting her childhood and who she used to be with her past memories. the ending is a good one because it's almost as if she really did find herself and came to terms with both sides of herself as an idol and a person in general. i'm not completely sure but i think when she said 'just drove by your house', she was talking about driving through her past memories and like i mentioned before, looking back at her past self. and like you said, 'everything i need is on the ground' kinda symbolizes how she doesn't have to like climb up these steps or be way up in the clouds to be truly happy cause sometimes looking too far up or too far ahead in life can cause us to miss something more important that's standing right in front of us. i actually think it's a really beautiful song cause i reminds us to also take things one step at a time and appreciate what we have that's standing right there.

Could also be talking about Roseanne her old self ( drove by your house) and that Roseanne was far from her now like her old self is not there anymore but she figure it out ( telling her old self) that her family and her true friends are still there that truly loves her and that is all she needs. With the stairs also that said “ Roses are dead, love is fake” could also mean that everything is there is not all real. She might have a lot of followers and people shows her a lot of love but once she is not in that pedestal anymore which is the stairs all of those love will disappear that is why it’s saying. 😻😻

I also think it goes back to fame. So many singers or actors or whatever think - oh yeah once I’m famous I’ll have everything I want. And once they get it they realize it can’t buy happiness. So she’s so high off the ground because of the fame and having everything she ever wanted but in reality her memories and friendships and families and youth are the ground and keep HER grounded and are what matters.
Also the scene with piano, has a very deep meaning. You missed that part....
The one who was playing a piano is Roseanne, a trainee who is working hard on reaching her dream to get high, and the one who’s watching her is Rosé, who worked all her life just to get high on where is right now but she realized that in reality, everything she need was on the ground.

Rosé is just so multi-talented artist. She took risk on hér solo debut. Despite that Knetz may not accept hér song bc it's all in Englis, but the GP wholeheartedly loved hér song, she even charted high on korean charts. Rosé also is such a very smart Songwriter. The lyrics of On the Ground is so very humbling.
The song is about a relationship-a relationship between Roseanne Park and Rosé. You’ll notice “Rosé “ is wearing a black dress with black scarf (Blackpink), while Roseanne is wearing a white shirt with “Koala” (representing Australia, where she grew up). Then at the end, the color of her dress is light pink-a combination of the dark pink and white she was wearing. She finally reconciled her two selves.

actually this song isn't about relationships, the you and I stands for the old self vs the current/new self. Many people can relate to the song because you always set a goal to head for the high point but once you get there, you will realized this isn't really what you need. Things that you need were always with you all this time. Also Roseanne is her real english name. And back in her childhood days she is always enjoying music and playing the piano in Australia with her family singing until midnight. Now she can't do that anymore because she's too busy with her life as an idol. And she's looking back at those happy times of her life as a child.

He pretty much nailed the analysis of the song and mv - which was evident when he spoke about the conflict between Rosé as a persona and Roseanne as who she really is (or was before becoming Rosé of Blackpink).

You were concentrating so hard on the music that you totally missed one of the most important scenes, where her younger self (Roseanne) is playing the piano for her. This scene is important because when she sings "I just drove by your house" she is singing about her childhood home (notice the hole in the wall in the house? The opening lines of the song mention "I used to have a hole in the wall with a mattress"). Lots of other symbolism such as the movie that was playing in the theatre, and even her Koala t-shirt point to her childhood in Australia. The "you and I" is Rosé and Roseanne.

The point that I was making is that he wasn't even looking at the screen during the most important part of the story, I don't blame him though as her voice is so beautiful that it would distract any music lover on first hearing.

The scene with the two rosé's symbolize two things: your have Rosé, the blackpinik member dressed in black and pink. and then you have Roseanne, Rosie's real name dressed in white, looking younger and pure. So Rosé goes back to her roots by visiting Roseanne old house and she's looking at her old self and looking happy at it, while Roseanne is playing the piano, practicing and aspiring to become Rosé, the blackpink member. In the mirror you have Roseanne writting Rosé because that's what she wants to become, but then it cuts to the present, where Rosé wrote Roseanne, because she realized that's who she needs to be in order to be happy.

I think it’s about that feeling you have when you’re young that if you just had x you’d be happy or successful or whatever it is you’re looking for, except even if you get x, there’s something else that you think will fulfill you. Eventually you realize, hopefully you realize, that everything you ever needed was already there it was already inside of you. All you ever needed was your drive and your passion, and love for yourself. Sometimes in the climb we can forget that. Rose is at that point in her life where she’s realized that she’s now at the top, she’s achieving everything she’s been reaching for and she’s no having that moment of introspection where she realized she already had everything she needed to achieve her goals, and everything she needs to achieve new goals it’s still there, because it’s her foundation.
