  • Hi guys, today we visited the monastery of Santa María de Montserrat (in Catalan , Monestir de Santa Maria de Montserrat ). it is a Benedictine abbey located in the mountain of Montserrat , belongs to the region of Bages, in the province of Barcelona, at a height of 720 meters above the level of the sea. It is a symbol for Catalonia and has become a pilgrimage point for believers and a must for tourists.
In 1025, Oliba, Abbot of Ripoll and Bishop of Vic, together founded a new monastery at the hermitage of Santa Maria de Montserrat. The little monastery soon began to receive pilgrims and visitors who contributed to the spread of stories of miracles and wonders performed by the Virgin.
In 1409 the monastery of Montserrat became an independent abbey. From 1493 to 1835, a period in which the monastery underwent great reforms, growing and increasing in splendour, Montserrat was part of the Valladolid Congregation.

This place with it's strange jagged pinnacles inspired Richard Wagner to set his Grail Castle in his opera PARSIFAL on the site of the monastery of the Virgin La Morena, patron of the Catalans.

Thank you for your wonderful video. I was born in this area, about 20 km north, in Manresa. For 30 minutes I’ve been able to go back to this magical mountain, thanks to you. I’m living in the United States and miss my country very much. I want to tell you that Montserrat is pronounced complete, don’t forget the last T, otherwise you sound like an Andalusian…they tend to cut all words short. :))

This is the first B&A video I've seen. Randomly, it appeared in the menu on CZcams and I clicked. Since then, I have been watching all the new videos of this excellent channel and I hope that I will have time to watch all of their videos gradually.

Actually this place is famous for its children choirs. But that day only had the priest singing. He sang pretty good though.

Yeah, this Monasterio de Montserrat is famous for its choir. they really know how to sing. But I don't think recent months are ideal for travelling due to the stupid virus. Recently we're only going to places that we can drive to and back within a day. Hopefully when summer came, situation could be better.

Thank you. Too bad you didn't show the images on the several altars as you walked the corridor. All images tell the story of the place including the symbols. One of the color glass window had a chalice but you went to fast to see the details.

I’ve did a tour of France and Spain back in 2015, but I have lost all my pictures and videos due to constant moving and losing my personals. I’m just slightly remembering all the places I’ve been too so I can watch videos of the places to, keep those great memories fresh!

You're not supposed to bring a camera into a house of worship & record people in church!
There's signs stating this all over there!
Why don't you try showing some respect for people's religion!?!

    • @BABeenHere
      @BABeenHere  Před rokem +1

Are you seriously thinking we don't respect this place? Or you're just used to passing judgment without fully understanding? The signs you mentioned all over the place are "silence, no flash, under surveillance". You might need to learn how to read signs.
Additionally, we asked the staff there and they told us it's ok to record just don't use flash, that's why when we passed by the staff at the door filming, he didn't stop us.
Finally, we have no intention filming any people, on the contrary, we're trying to avoid people as much as we can, we're only interested in showing our audience the historical structures.
In the end. Matthew 7:1, Do not judge others. This verse advises people to refrain from passing judgment on others, as they themselves will be judged by God. It reminds people that they are not in a position to fully understand another person's situation or motivations and that only God can judge them rightly.
Thanks for leaving a comment by the way.

Furthermore, you walked directly into the chapel, in between church pews, and filmed the parishioners while they were worshipping during a Sermon, anyone with a stich of respect or common sense would not do such a thing!
