Don't be that guy that doesn't have their stuff backed up. You only need to set your Samsung Cloud backup once for each phone and you are free from worry. Let me know if you have any questions!
I'm most interested in backing up my Settings. Every time I do a firmware update, I like to factory reset my phone to avoid any glitches in the update. I tested this Settings Backup out, but none of my system settings, nor any of my App Settings got restored. I'm trying to avoid having to go through each individual app and adjust the settings after a software update. Do I need to select Applications in the Backup selection in order to backup the individual app settings? Is it even possible to backup each individual app setting?
I've bought a Samsung Note 9, and used Smartswitch to transfer everything to it from the S9 plus. And I am using now only the Note 9 and so I have my sim in that phone. And no sim in the S9 plus. I tried deleting photos in the S9 plus and it won't do it. I can delete contacts, but not photos in the gallery. When I try, it says that it will also deleted in other synced devices and on the cloud. But I just want to delete it from that phone. How???
So sorry sir, may I ask what would it be for the differents between smart switch and Samsung or Google cloud accounts? I mean smart switch can also move all my contains in my phone to another phone while samsung cloud or Google cloud are actually doing the same thing or they are different?
I am dumbfounded as to how Verizon concluded that they should not include Samsung cloud. I use Google backup, but it is not very good. Should the restore be paused at any point during the process, it cannot be restarted. I instinctively pause my restores while I set up other parts of the phone, in order not to have lag when I do so. Google backup also does not backup app data, though I understand that Samsung intends to remove that functionality as well.
+Michael Bergman Yeah it is really a bummer. Yes, Samsung will no longer back up app data in the next week, it will back up the install files just not the data saved.
toshibavoodoo The only way to do that would be to switch carrier firmware, though that is only a temporary solution - as it is said to be patched in the forthcoming bootloader version.

Hi Tech with Brett I'm calling because what you just displayed is a perfect example of what I wanted to do I call Samsung technical support and told them that I need to backup my new device before I had a factory Reset. Samsung AR71 Is the device I wanted backup especially my photos and videos contacts. I ended up having everything deleted with the factory reset and nothing was re stored or backed up or Synced. I did a backup from a prior device with Samsung technical support and smart switch Which went great. 7 time I called about backing up my new device before it was reset and being very specific about what I wanted I was not really walk through it like I was told Samsung recommends for them to do. We went partly through the process in somehow got turned loose and I got Confused. And soon the options I was given were supposed to be To select from an old device. So from there they started tell me to hook up to smart tutor and restore my phone and backup and sync which made me think the I was to get all the pictures that were deleted ...back !and data.& all data From in the whole phone that somehow got deleted. Is it possible to change a Samsung account email address? If not then it's not an issue just would prefer to use another email address than what I originally picked.

I've noted that nothing will get backed up in Samsung cloud that is stored on the phone itself (contacts for instance or calendar), make sure you actually look at the backup (Settings -> Cloud and accounts -> Samsung cloud) and ensure it has items backed up as expected. Do you still have your old phone? If so you can go and back up the secure folder. If not, you most likely need to start over unless you used some app the saved that information.
I received an email saying that my Samsung cloud data is going to be deleted in July after a year of inactivity. I Googled and found your video on how to find my Samsung cloud and access it. But I don't have that option that you're pointing out for Samsung cloud in my settings.
If you're on Verizon you can find your Samsung Cloud by using an app called, Quick Shortcut maker...it also lets you add the cloud icon to your home screen... I just did it last night.

I believe you will first want to download the pictures you want to keep on your phone then go into the settings of the gallery app and turn off Samsung Cloud.

You Samsung notes should through the app, double check those settings. For the other files you should be able to use Samsung Cloud Drive to back them up.
My issue is actually being able to access this information from my laptop. I contacted Samsung and it's been over a month and still no response, just the auto reply. I don't see the point in having a cloud or a backup, if you can't actually access the information if something were to happen to your phone. If you log on to Samsung Cloud online, you can see your gallery and there is a "download" button that you can click after selecting what pics you want. You can also _see_ what "other synced data" is there, however you *cannot* click on any of these to actually see what is in them which makes it useless. I need to get the data off of my Samsung Notes, but don't have the option. So basically if my phone is stolen or brakes, I have no way of getting anything from my Samsung Notes b/c I can only see it on my phone. Samsung clearly failed here.

Oh wow! You found something brand new. I first I thought this was talking about the files that I store on your Samsung Cloud that don't take up any space like contacts but Samsung Cloud Drive is essentially your My Files app but in the cloud. Anything you put in there will be backed up to your Samsung account and will count towards your 15GB of free storage. You can create new folders and upload an files from your phone.
But... if its already in the cloud, then why would anyone want to back it up to the cloud again? I guess I hoped to find a way to create more cloud space using this. I still just dont understand its purpose. Are you able to find this feature on your phone? It allows more than documents to be backed up to it. Thank you so much for responding.
I guess it would be something that is typically not backed up like a PDF file or a word document. That it will back it up so you can access on other devices. Otherwise Samsung Cloud only backs up media.

So all my pictures are backed up like 1200 of them and there all on the cloud, I upgraded from a gs8 to a gs9 plus and on doing so I signed in to the cloud set up my galaxy s9 plus and itd said it would automatically download my pictures to gallery once I opened my gallery and nothing havnt been able to get my pictures on my phone off the cloud since I upgraded phones.

The cloud should remain. You might consider converting your account to One Drive to make sure all your photos move over and are on the new plan.

Have you verified where the calendar is saved? A Google account or your Samsung Account? If Samsung account it should be backed up.
It's sad that in 2019 this still can't backup appdata for all the apps that we have on our phones

Hi why does some photos in the gallery shows the Samsung cloud icon? The photo is not shown, just the icon, so where would the photos be?
That means that it is backed up to the Samsung Cloud and the phone needs to download the full resolution on the phone.

If you log on to Samsung Cloud online, you can see your gallery and there is a "download" button that you can click after selecting what pics you want. You can also _see_ what "other synced data" is there, however you *cannot* click on any of these to actually see what is in them which makes it useless. I need to get the data off of my Samsung Notes, but don't have the option. So basically if my phone is stolen or brakes, I have no way of getting anything from my Samsung Notes b/c I can only see it on my phone. Samsung clearly failed here.

Yes, but it has now mostly moved to Microsoft One Drive which is safe as well.
so the sync also save the information if you remove the backup but on other phone cause if you remove anything from the original one will lose forever
I have a question and i can't seem to find the answer. There's samsung cloud for 15 gigs of backup, right? But in the accounts list under Samsung there is an option for samsung cloud drive. Oh wow! You found something brand new. I first I thought this was talking about the files that I store on your Samsung Cloud that don't take up any space like contacts but Samsung Cloud Drive is essentially your My Files app but in the cloud. Anything you put in there will be backed up to your Samsung account and will count towards your 15GB of free storage. You can create new folders and upload an files from your phone.
But... if its already in the cloud, then why would anyone want to back it up to the cloud again? I guess I hoped to find a way to create more cloud space using this. I still just dont understand its purpose. Are you able to find this feature on your phone? It allows more than documents to be backed up to it. Thank you so much for responding.
I guess it would be something that is typically not backed up like a PDF file or a word document. That it will back it up so you can access on other devices. Otherwise Samsung Cloud only backs up media.

So all my pictures are backed up like 1200 of them and there all on the cloud, I upgraded from a gs8 to a gs9 plus and on doing so I signed in to the cloud set up my galaxy s9 plus and itd said it would automatically download my pictures to gallery once I opened my gallery and nothing havnt been able to get my pictures on my phone off the cloud since I upgraded phones.
My samsung cloud says there's a backup of july 5th on my contacts (305 items), I press restore contacts..0%-100%, it has been restored.I go to my contacts, I still have only 64 contacts. (I have checked display settings where it's marked "Show All Contacts" Any help?

Hi Brett. Does the backup solution provide to restore Google Authenticator so I can use 2FA without interruption if my old Smartphone is gone forever? If not could you please describe how to fail-safe backup Google Authenticator so you don't have to go through the whole process of proofing your ID and contact Support etc. and most important not to lose an 2FA access forever.
