Working with finances and budgeting in Notion can get tricky. In today's video I show you an easy way to setup a personal cash flow with minimal formula use. Automatically calculating a balance from an inflow of income and outflow of expenses can be achieved with relations and rollups. Here's how I did it.

I started using Notion when all the productivity vlogs started talking about it and stopped using it because whatever I thought was possible to do in it, I was doing in dedicated apps in a better and much more streamlined way. Seeing your channel and listening to you explain how to do all this has made me go back and now, there is a page for everything that I used to do in a dedicated app thanks to you and your fabulous tutorials.

I just spent days trying to figure all this out before finding this video. Great job. One adjustment I made (vs yours) was to create a “Paycheck” database vs just income to account for our taxes, benefits, pre/post tax, etc. and then created views and rollups on that data. We also get paid every 2 weeks vs monthly which we need to account for.
This is super helpful, you explained it all really well. For someone who struggles with calculations, you made it really easy for me. Thank you for sharing your thinking

Well done! This is the best strategy (for me) I have found to elegantly create a finance tracker without much hassle. I also found a lot of small tips you gave quite useful! (like using search to get a different sum quickly and doing the table colors) Keep up the good work :D
