If you're looking to simplify your Notion workspace, I walk through how I'm approaching simplifying my database hoarding. Not only can one merge database rows, but database properties as well. In this example I show you how to merge multiple date properties into one, essentially allowing the creation of a master calendar. There are no relations or rollups used here, only a showcase of how moving pages works from one database to another.
timestamps:
0:00 - Intro
1:09 - Setting Up To Merge
3:34 - Match All Property Names
4:46 - Create A New View For Each Merged Database
10:02 - Hide Excess Properties And Clean The Database
10:49 - Link Each Merged Database Back Into The Workspace

Red, you’re a gem! I’ve actually been really struggling with managing my time, as I’ve got so many activities that I’m venturing into, and have been looking for ways to merge all of my notion to do lists as they’ve been getting out of hand. So this is an absolute lifesaver. I can’t thank you enough honestly!
Thank you SO MUCH. This is EXACTLY what I was searching for and everyone else I found was only teaching how to create the linked databases whereas I already had my individual databases & wanted to create a master database from my existing ones. Your video was so specific and easy to understand. Thank you sooo very much!!
Thank you for the great inspiration. Instead of many relations and rollups, everything is now in one calendar. I used the Christmas holidays for the renovation and thanks to the great tips I'm starting the new year very clearly. All the best for 2021.
You just solved my biggest problem, you're doing such a great job with these videos can't thank you enough!
You don't know how much your videos are helping me. I've been struggling to build a satisfactory and practical Notion system of my own. Before, I was like having dozens of disorganized databases all around my Notion. I didn't know what I was doing. All seemed too complicated and I thought I was too old for this. But I've been learning with your videos and it all started to make so much sense. It was mindblowing and eye-opening to actually be able to see all the potential Notion has. What you do is magnificent! You have inspired me a lot. Thank you so much.
Super helpful. The way you broke things down was very clear and thoughtful. This is the first time I've seen any of your videos. You're doing a great job of walking people through. Thanks so much for your help. I feel pretty confident that you gave me the tools to clear my headspace! :)
This is a game changer! I've seen master calendars on Notion but didn't know how to make one, and this video cleared it up fast and how. Thank you so much :)
this was very helpful, this "merged calendar" was bugging my head lately because I couldn't do it by myself so i would still need google calendar and notion, but now I can do it only with notion thanks for the video ;)
Hi, I'm a newbie at Notion and I had some anxiety starting up databases because I first thought of "but how do I combine everything?" and really needed a Master calendar before anything... So Thank you for a great video! It gave me tons of great advice of how to move forward and organize myself. I also appreciate that it took you less than 15 minutes to teach me this!!
This is exactly what I was looking for and on my first search. You are the "🐐" of Notion my dear. I have about 15 different databases that I totally need to consolidate and this was the 🔑! Thank you so much!!!
As always, amazing tutorial. I love how smart, calm and friendly your instructions are :)
I have been using Notion for about 2 weeks now and your videos and code have helped me immensly. Thank you.
You're a genius and I cannot thank you enough for creating this video. This is exactly what I was looking for and it saved me from so much work and confusion trying to figure out what I was going to do.
THANK YOU. your channel its the best for notion for sure! ive watched almost 10 videos already and you helped in every one of them. My notion is functional for my company in a way a never imagined. Thank youuuu
You have no idea how valuable this was for me. Thank you.
I wish Notion had a way to create a "page view" that allowed me to hide and expose certain properties from something like this on a page level, but alas, that doesn't exist yet.
Either way, this was super helpful.
Thank you for saying about "i hope it helps" in the end of the video!
This inspired me to share: yes, it helps, it helps tremendously! I'm 27y.o. from Crimea, Russia. I'm trying to make a database for tracking books, trainings, sleep log, food log etc. I feel like this makes my life so much better, more calm and more proud of accomplishment since they noted.
So I'm trying to learn how to use notion, and actually your channel is the best I found for this purpose. Your skill and point of view, your ideas and your calming voice - everything is so helpful. I watch your videos for a month already, they have been a great help.
Also English is my third language, so your articulation is really clean, it is easy to understand what you are saying. Nd video editing skills - like, I'm seeing this formulas for the first time - and I can understand it. Because of you 🍀
So yes, your videos are very helpful, they give me knowledge of hot to make my life better. Thank you so much 💖✌️
I‘m from Germany and new to Notion. But I love to explore new functions. Also love the way you explain, its always easy to understand. Just love your videos!❤️Keep up your good work! Hope to get to know more about relations und formulas soon as well
Red thank you so much for doing these videos! I greatly enjoy your teaching style. Very helpful.
Thank you so much for creating this video! I was getting so frustrated with relations and rollups. This is so much simpler and easier to use. I cannot express just how helpful this was! Thank you. :)
Literally have asked on so many forums about how to do this. You just blew my mind. I wish I had known this MONTHS ago! Makes complete sense! You are a genius!
LOL, well attempted multiple times tonight and kept having to revert. :) Thought I fully understood it but guess not. Will keep rewatching!
So relieved I searched for this before trying to manually bring over entries! Super helpful explanation - thank you !!
I just discovered your channel while making a notion for my first year in grad school - super helpful and easy to follow along!! Thank you for these videos!!!
I just want to say as a Notion newbie, but one who has watched at least 30 videos, yours are the absolute best. You present meaningful topics in a clear way, but even more than that, you bring it all together. I got more from watching this one video than I got spending 2 hours scouring Reddit r/notion posts, doing Google searches, and the Notion documentation. Thank you for your contributions to the Notion community.
Omg changing to text property just fixed my life you glorious human!!!
Genius. This is how to explain a complex process in a nice, friendly and professional way. Thanks.
A master database to rule them all ! Thank you for this video, that's what I was looking for as I manage multiple different projects at the same time so I needed a unique database view and calendar but also wanted to keep each project isolated.
During the video, u were solving every single question that showed up in my mind. I do hope this would help me too. Thank u
I've watched this video multiple times - I set up my work and personal workspaces using this technique (although it's not necessary for everything to be combined into one DB). Thanks! 🙏
Really useful and perfect end of year timing - thanks!
Thank you for the video, it helped me understand a lot more about how database linking works. I tried linking multiple databases into a master database.. but this is so much easier to link independent databases from one master database using filters.
You just solved a major issue for me. And on top of it sparked a lot of ideas for my Notion Workspace. Thank you so much.
Thank you so very much for this, Red! It answered all the gaps and voids of information in my head about trying to consolidate and harmonize my Notion system. Liked & Subscribed!
Thank you so much for you spending your time an energy in all your videos. This one was very useful and very much what I was looking for. Lots of love from Bengaluru, India
So many people have been saying about , but they show how they are doing it! I couldn’t find anyone yet who told about /linked-database , Thank you! This was the biggest problem I was having!
Thank you for this. I’m just starting out so I am excited to create a merged calender from the get go!
Awesome, thanks. So smart turning the logic around and not creating several databases and trying to link them in one (What is nevertheless not possible) you create one master and use this as a reference 🤯 Love it! It helped me a lot!
Red you are the true gem! Thank you for uploading this type of stuff.
OMG! I spent the last 12 hours literally looking to do that!!! Thank you so much, you are a gem!!!
Thank you very much, your explanations are very clear! And yes, I’m gonna simplify !
thank you! I've been searching for how to connect all my to-do lists from different databases and I think this might just be the best way to run my Notion account...simplify is my moto this year! Beautiful!
This might still be a year+ old post but super relevant to me who has just build a nest of Databases in Notion. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks very clean and easy to understand. I wish all videos are like yours.
Thank you, yet another great tutorial to add to my knowledge base
Wow! Thanks much! Very excited to merge our Content database with our Events/conferences Database and be able to see it all on the calendar!!!
This is awesome! I've been looking for how to do it for ages, thank youuu
Thank you so much!! I had no idea about the "turn multiselect etc into text" trick, it was super useful!
This is exactly what I needed help with, and it made perfect sense to me. Thank you!
Thank you so much! You explained this really well and felt that the speed of the video was new user friendly. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!
Waouh! Great video! Thanks! It's just what I needed! I wanted to create a big database as you shown, but I was thinking I should write again every line! your video is a huge help!!!
thanks for sharing! Searching for this info for 2 hours and no ones explained it like you :)
You are a wonderful speaker. I fall in love with your intro
I've been struggling to do this for weeks!!! Thank you so much!!
the way i liked and subscribed with a quickness! thank you! been wondering how to do this for years! 💜
Genius. You are so underrated. And I understand this channel is growing. I can see you getting a lot of subscribers soon! I believe in Notion Supremacy!

This tutorial was a life-saver for me. Thank you so much!
OH MY GOD... this is what I have been looking for .... Thank you so much for the super tool! I (and my boss) will definitely be happy.
got the help i was looking for! highly informative and easy to follow, thank you sooo much!!!
Thanks so much, I've been searching for this everywhere!
Thank you so much for the video! It was an eye opener. ⭐
In fact, as a side note, your videos are informative and easy to understand! 👍🏻
Perhaps, instead of saying "hope this makes sense", say "if anything is unclear, please leave a note in the comments". 😉
Is there a way to do this but to still keep the contents in the other database as well? I want the information to be consolidated into a big database, but to also stay in the one that they were originally in as well
Yes with linked databases
@@josh.nuttall can you link more than 1?
yeah this is what i came here for... I don't know if there's a way to link more than 1 together
@@josh.nuttall yes, i understand on the database on the original page can simply linked to the master database, but I believed you will end up having like mixed status and select option with other original database, i.e. both Books and Projects can have "Status", but they both have different options under them, but because you append them into the master database, now you have all the status mixed up and once you create a linked database from Books to Masterbase, you will see Projects's Status as well... I believe @me here is trying to ask if you can resolve thhe problem which many people are facing

How do you think?
This is a great idea! Really appreciate all your content :) Keep them coming!
Hi Dagmar. Enjoying your weekly notion conversations. Do you know if it's possible to combine DBs like this video shows BUT also show them separately in their original DBs?
2023 and this video helped me a lot! I was looking for a way to get together my calendars from different activities to be more productive. So, THANK U!
I have spent hours trying to find a tutorial on how to do this. THANK YOU
I don't want to flatter you, but you are one of the best Notion teachers, explaining Notion here on CZcams! I am looking for a solution to the following problem, and I think you gave me the inspiration for a solution in this video. I use Bardeen to scrape LinkedIn Profile Data to a Notion Database. I have another database for LinkedIn Profiles too. The two databases have some fields that are the same and other fields that are specific to the respective database. When I run the Bardeen Playbook to scrape LinkedIn Profiles, I want to add the new scraping results to my other database too.
AABSURD quality of speech and display of talent and work, thank you and congratulations.
Thank you! This video is still helping people 3 years later
Great info. Thank you so very much. I'm sure I will need to watch this again as I actually do it.
Thank you so much! I just started using Notion and want to create a futureproof all-in-one system with multiple workspaces. And for that I need a single master calendar for all the various tasks, and I couldn't quite figure out how.
thank you so much!!!!!! ive been struggling to merge two notion templates for the past two weeks
Great ! Thank you , makes totally sense ! Tried to do it last week and messed up totally 😂😂😂😂 - now I know how to do it better ! Thanks ! Stay confident !
This was INSANELY helpful!! Thank you!!
Reason for changing Select -> Text: Otherwise the destination property is empty (found out by experimenting).
Also, it doesn't matter if a tag (value) has spaces in it - when you "turn into text", tag/select values get separated by commas
Absolutely loved it! I just made a master first and then made linked views, but lovedd this!
Thank you, brilliant girl. You helped so much that I don't know how to thank you
Thank you. This is the answer of my needs.
This helped me out! Thank you, Red!
Great video and great explanation! Greetings from Brazil.
OMG! I've been trying to do this for too long now
thank you!
YOU ARE THE GREATEST PERSON RIGHT NOW!
It's just what I needed, perfect!
I hope the departure was for good reasons. It appeared on CZcams, I had to listen to it again. Good luck, you deserve it!
Made sense on second run through. Thanks!
I don't leave comments often, but this really saved me!
I cannot thank you enough for this video. It saved me!
Thank you! Really big help to ease my mind.
You Helped me a LOT!!, I´m so glad for that, THANK YOU, GOD BLESS YOU!!
YES! Exactly what I was looking for. Thankyou!

I'm excited to implement this into my notion. Time to revamp!
Very Helpful, I have 2 companies to run and way to much to do. Started using Notion and things are getting messy. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!! After your video I've finally discovered that exist this button "/Create Linked Database"!!! Amazing!!!!
This was SUPER helpful! Thank you
Yes, dear. It makes sense and it's helpful. Thank you.
You make this look so simple. Think I need to set aside some hours to play about because it is NOT simple in my brain!
