Honestly, in the time the movie was made, I don’t think they could’ve found anyone better to play the grinch other than Jim Carrey
It's weird, but his face and body language was expresive enough to work its' way through the costume and all the heavy makeup, that's an impresive level of acting.
When Martha May's telling her side of the story, she has remnants of the Grinchs gift in her hair.
Fun fact: Martha may rejected the mayor because her heart belonged to the grinch. And apparently at the table scene they were flirting with eachother

Fun fact: The table scene was not scripted! They wanted Jim Carrey to pull it off and have everything go flying off the table for a gag. But Carrey is such a master at it he kept doing it perfectly, so finally, he just went back and knocked everything off by hand, and that's the take they went with.
I just want to take this opportunity to show some massive appreciation towards Jim Carey and the absolute torture he went through to do this movie. I don't mean that to say it's a bad movie cause it's not. It's iconic! I mean he went through absolute hell getting the makeup and everything done to him to become the Grinch. Also I want to express equal love and appreciation towards Josh Ryan Evans who played young Grinch for also having to go through that. I don't know if his experience was as bad but I can imagine it couldn't have been pleasant. I did hear doing the movie has taken a toll on Jim Carey mentally so I really appreciate him for pulling through. Both him and Josh. Massive props and love to them both!
Yeah, I heard they hired a CIA torture expert to help talk him through the pain.
And it is the reason he wanted to quit acting. It also reminded me of the wizard of oz set when it came to the wicked witch and the tin min. They went through a lot.
I do admire Carey’s performance and how he was able to commot to these scenes while in pain. I can’t imagine.

I know people can say stuff like "I miss when things were more authentic like using actual makeup and crap instead of using computers" but I feel like they forget or don't know the hell the actors often go through to get like that whereas with CGI, all they need is poka dots put on them and a green screen suit. Probably more than that but you get my point. I know CGI and green screen can make things look a little wonky but often times if done right they can look pretty epic.

What makes that scene where Cindy is asking Martha even sweeter when you realize Martha likes the grinch if you look at her hair she’s wearing all the little jewels💎 that were on the Grinch’s angel that he made for her as a child. She kept the present he made her 🥹 and uses it to decorate and style her hair at Christmas time since she can’t use it for its original purpose 🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭😭and it’s her way of secretly showing her love that she’s always had for the Grinch 🥹🥹😭

Actually Digital Domain’s VFX breakdown does show that they did digitally enhance it.
The fact that Jim Carrey said that the Grinch suit was like being suffocated and was literal torture but still did the movie.
Also while wearing the contacts he got an eye infection, which is why his eye were red.

I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!"
Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with the Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.
Side notes:
I would LOVE to have Martha May's Santa outfit, her Whobilation gown and her flowing robe. (in my size, of course. I'm quite a bit taller and thicker than Christine Baranski)
Augustus May Who is the true villain, and I never feel bad when the Grinch gets back at him for the years of torment by shaving his Quaker Oats mascot hair. 😆🤣

The fact that Cindy Lou Who left acting to start a heavy metal band (The Pretty Reckless) makes her singing in this movie that much more hilarious. In the song "Make Me Wanna Die", Taylor gives a nod to the movie in her debut album by having a young girl dressed as Cindy Lou Who begging for change within the opening 30 seconds of the video.
And christine baranski was a fashion and character icon in this movie. Her role may be small, but her presence can’t be underaporeciated.
The tablecloth scene was adlib. The stuff on the table was supposed to fall off but when Jim Carrey tugged the cloth the stuff didn't fall. Everyone on set was so shocked that Jim Carrey noticed and walked back pushed the stuff off and flipped the table.

I just wanted to drop in and say the Martha May thirst is so relatable. She was wearing ho-ute couture all movie.
Huge shout out to Rick Baker and his team both in the shop and on-set. Wasn’t an easy task to say the least but was a record breaking makeup show with everyone in makeup (even the dog with ear extensions) and that ultimately got him his sixth Oscar.

This is my favourite Grinch movie and the one I grew up watching the most 💚💚Jim Carey was absolutely phenomenal in this one like he brought the humour and the intensity and the uniques of the character and you know he made entertaining 😊I love the whole story in this one like it gave us a valid reason why he hated Christmas in the first place and I got so mad that he was laughed at by his classmates and especially his teacher but I’m happy that Martha always loved him and accepted for he is and I was so happy she got together with him at the end and left the Mayor all high and dry❤️❤️ Also I love Cindy Lou 😁 she is so cute and smart and her friendship is with The Grinch is so sweet and I loved that her Father stood up for her against the Mayor especially since I didn’t like the Mayor at all.
