The Grinch’s face at 5:40 says it all. The razor triggered him, the proposal upset him, but Martha May not immediately rejecting it was the thing that finally broke him.
I like to think that because she didn’t reject the gifts outright, it told the Grinch that she had just as much avarice as the rest of the Who’s
Martha didn't say yes right away to Augustus proposal. This whole mess with The Grinch in HIS fault, he had bullied him and everyone made fun of him.
I think they got married at the end because you can see that Martha is wearing a wedding dress and a wedding ring

I think the ring on Martha’s finger means she is engaged to be married to the Grinch. It must have been the Grinch himself who made the ring for his girlfriend as he made the beautiful Christmas angel for her in the past. After all he has extraordinary skills, a brilliant mind and a big heart ❤️💫
RIP to Josh Ryan Evans who played young Grinch! He was 17 at the time and suffered from a kind of dwarfism that gave him a heart valve defect.

Augustus was really despicable.
On Christmas Eve he assaulted the grinch emotionally in the 3 most sensitive spots.
His insecurity’s on his own appearance which he kept it together and brushed that off though he was angry about it.
Proposing to Martha knowing the grinch liked her and he was still barely in control waiting for the answer.
But worst of all what set him over the edge was the one thing he hated most about Christmas.
Materialism and greed.
And he even went as far as to talk down on Cindy Lou a little girl who just wanted everyone to be happy on Christmas. That's low even for him.

Holy shit, I just realised the Grinch managed to handmake and weld an angel Christmas tree topper out of near fully metal parts and genuine gemstones in ONE DAY. That is CREATIVE COMMITMENT. Martha would’ve loved it.
She did love it, and kept it all these years, the remains of it were worn in her hair during Cindy’s interview.
This version definitely has its issues, but the trait of the Grinch being a brilliant engineer is a stroke of genius that seems to have stuck to his character since this movie. It makes complete sense and they built his lair in this movie all around that concept.
I believe Ron Howard said they were aware they couldn't top the Chuck Jones special, but they put they put their best foot forward.
It does really make sense for his character because what else would he spend his time alone

Besides his mothers, Martha May was the only person in all of Who-Ville to actually care for him. And if the Grinch had not started his rant(which was completely justifiable) She no doubt would’ve told the Mayor no, but not tell the reason why because of fear of ridicule. When Martha made it clear that her heart belonged to the Grinch in the end, that was the moment she no longer cared what others would think. She really and truly loved him. 😊💚

The craziest thing about this scene is realizing that all the suffocating makeup and prostheses Jim had to wear for the grinch that he could handle as an experienced character actor was intense enough, but the child that played young grinch had to have the same amount of makeup on every single inch of his face and body too, at such a young age. Incredible actor with such strength to be smothered with thick and stifling makeup and still perform so well as a tiny child.
Actually, interesting fact: The actor who played the young grinch (Josh Ryan Evans) was 18 at the time of the movie's release. He looked and sounded like a young child because he had a condition called achondroplasia. Still impressive as an 18 year old, though

3:46 Absolutely not acceptable, a school teacher joining in with her students on the laughter over something that isn't funny, even Martha glared angerly at her classmates and their teacher because she knew it wasn't funny, however, she was nowhere near as angry as the Grinch, the Grinch got so angry that he became so well aggressive enough that he scared all his classmates except Martha. And I have autism, so there had been times I got made fun of for being autistic, you may have heard of racial profiling, but there's also such thing as psychological profiling, which is like racial profiling, except I have an autistic brain instead of dark skin, and there were times I hollered angerly at some of my classmates for teasing me and tried to scare them with a thunderclap ROAR of a lion, but it didn't work because few of them just smiled like they thought it funny, but at least those classmates stopped smiling and laughing when the Grinch scared them. And for the same reason the Grinch hated Christmas, I hated school, and those three years of middle school were the worst three years of my entire life, I wanted to blow up the school I went to with a set of bombs, but if I did it, I would have gotten into trouble with the police and taken to prison for the rest of my life, so I didn't dare try to destroy the school, but as for the Grinch, he just left it, climbed up to the top of Mount Crumpet, built a home inside his cave, and lived a depressing life without Martha, his childhood crush, and after so many years of missing out on his chances of being with her, he accidentally knocked her over and fell down on top of her with his face shoved between her breasts, and she loved it. Interesting that he got to sit between her and Cindy at the feast in his cave, and with all the Whos gathered in his cave for the feast, I think Augustice didn't attend because he got embarrassed by the way Martha dumped him and the way the Grinch got the last laugh on him for being such a a mean and nasty jerk to the Grinch and the Whos, and because of my autism, I something about myself compared to the Grinch.

@@henrylivingstone2800 The reason why I wanted to blow my middle school into a pile of rubble was so that I wouldn't have to go to school ever again, which I thought then would have made me happy, but my parents said that if I did it, I would have been arrested and taken to prison for the rest of my life as an early teen, so instead of setting up bombs, I kept struggling until I finally graduated from middle school, and when I got to high school, life got better, I had less homework, less harassment, less bullying, less stress, less psychological profiling (which is like racial profiling, only with autism instead of dark skin), and more respect, more friends, and more fun.
