    Good tips. People don't need to try to meet all their battery needs right away. There's always ways to add more battery capacity to a system when you can afford to buy more.

    My only question is how do you charge the extra battery charging your battery?

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Could be charged up with a ac charger or even a solar charge controller before taking it out camping. Or you could piggy back off the power pack (while charging) with a small ac or dc charger if you need to charge it while off grid

    I have been looking at a few of these units lately trying to find the best value with the right specs, main thing i have been looking at is the AC output and DC input, i like the BLUETTI AC2A but it's small 300w inverter could be a real drawback, BLUETTI AC70 has a 1000w inverter and up to 500w solar input, with 768Wh this could be the ideal unit to use with a 50ah or 100ah external battery, this unit is only $900, the big boy of the family BLUETTI AC200L has a 2400w inverter and 1000w solar input, 2048wh sounds good but is triple the price of the AC70, this works out to about 160ah battery for $2800, you can get 2 120ah from kings for $900, AC70 for $900, if you need the extra AC power you could always add a kings 1500w inverter for an extra $150, you would also need another way to charge the batteries am sure you could get a charger for about $200, the whole lot for less than $2200, this would get you over 3600wh

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci +1

      $900 bucks is pretty good for the AC70. I think I payed $850 for my eb55 a couple years back.
      Depending on use the AC200 would be a bit bulky to lug around. AC70 with a extra battery would be a good option(my option) u can find a good Victron mppt reasonably cheap when they come up on sale 😁🤙🏻

      I think 300-400w of solar and a 75-10 or 75-15 victron and 2x 50ah batteries should give you power 24/7. You could only draw 100-150w overnight.@@Techboxreview

      Some of those LiFePo batteries have an internal BMS that will not support being put in series, check your battery before attempting it

    The solar imput also says 8 amp max input but your step up converter is 24v at 10 amps? Is this a problem? Thanks for your advice.

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Great Question. I think the mppt on the Bluetti is only taking in what it’s rated for. So it doesn’t seem to be a problem. For example when I connected that 50ah battery, that battery can supply 50amps (if not more) but the charge controller only output the rated amps into the powerpack

      @@Techboxreview good to know this as I’m going to use your method as it’s a very logical and practical way to expand my own systems! Thanks again!

      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci

      You’re welcome mate. Just make sure your not over voltage for your power packs input and you should be good to go. If you wanted to play it safe. You could find a converter that closer matches the max amp of you charge controller. 👍

    Im guessing this will have about 45ah @ 12v. So the capacity pretty much = 2x kings 24ah power packs? How fast can this power station be charged using solar compare to the kings power packs? Kings pack is way slow!

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Great question. This Bluetti can charge at 200watts. So I would take around 2.5hours to charge from 0% roughly. I agree those kings powerpack are great but painfully slow to charge

    The extra capacity only flows one way though. Charging your powerstation needs to also charge your external battery. These powerstation manufacturers do not add the option of paralleling 3rd party batteries because people would buy external batteries and not their overpriced battery extensions.

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Good point mate. Thank for pointing that out. 😎👍. You will still need an external charger for the battery. Thanks

    • @zccolby
      @zccolby Před 4 měsíci +1

      if this is just a thing that is needed every once in a while you could get a trickle charger, like a 3amp battery maintainer, and plug that into the main battery while you can solar charge the primary. Best if you can grab a dc/dc charger instead of ac to dc to reduce losses. It wouldn't have to be an expensive option, just would want main battery to charge faster than the auxiliary.

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci

      @zccolby it would greatly increase you power reserve while on a couple day camp trip for sure. If you where to put 200watt solar into my eb55 and have a 100watt charger going into the 50ah battery. (So 100watt into each) they both get a full charge in around 6hours. In theory 🤓👍

    • @SuperBlobsterMan
      @SuperBlobsterMan Před 4 měsíci +2

      @zccolby Ideally manufactures should add a port with a built in DC-to-DC output charger that can also serve as a input charge. This function should be manual controlled and automatic, like when the powerstaion is over 90% it will output charge. That would be an awesome feature for a powerstation. $2000 dollars total and you could have a pretty descent off grid power set up with tons of battery capacity.

    • @Techboxreview
      @Techboxreview  Před 4 měsíci

      I like your thinking mate 😎🤙🏻 that would be super handy. I would happily pay a little extra for that feature. Hopefully blutti are following this and taking notes 😜

      connect solar panels to this & it's a generator
