It’s encouraging to see a pro practicing . Too often all we see are great performances with no clue as to how they came about. Thanks for posting
RIP to all my fellow guitarists who can't read sheet music
Music is always better and easier to learn by ear.
@@TheCompleteGuitarist Hard disagree on both counts. I think there is a time and place where each approach has its advantages - at least, in the Western classical tradition. Learning from sheets makes it easier to get an understanding of the structure and theory of a piece. Learning by ear trains your mind's ear and helps you to develop your own voice and interpretation. Ideally you learn some music both ways.
😂
@@TheCompleteGuitarist No, its not. That's like saying being a virgin is always better.
@@TheCompleteGuitarist sounds like someone can't read their treble clef :D
So you profesional players are human after all. Watching you struggle practicing is a morale boost for amateurs like me. Of course I am not a hundredth of the player you are and I struggle with much easier pieces, but still... thank you!
just do it slow.. what I learned over the years.. even if you thnk you'll never be able to play it.. play it slow it helps alooooot! and soon you'll get it.. metronome helps too after you can play it slow so you can go faster and faster
How are you doing now? I’d love to hear how far you’ve come since this video! :]
I started playing guitar 6 months ago and I can barely read sheet music, but this really helped me to understand how a professional would practice since I've never had a teacher.
I'm myself a classical guitarist and also a cellist, and i really like what you do (in general) but especially in this very honest video. To everyone who isn't a musician : this IS what looks like working and learning music is. Thank you Alexandra !
You're THE person I've been meaning to find! I play the classical guitar and also own a cello. For years I've been putting off picking up the cello for real. My question is: do nails present a problem for holding the cello bow?
@@FaithlessDwarf Ahahhh, this question.
That's a funny question. I have *never* been able to have real nails as a guitar player, my teacher "accepted" that (I ended with abrsm 8 + 1 or 2 years (i am in a country with a different system but i know this one so maybe it helps you), and he sort of dropped the case and tried to get the best of me with shorter nails.
Today i'm more of a cellist, but i still play guitar, so without nail. Sorry if i can't give you the right answer :)
"I'm bound to make a few mistakes I haven't been playing it all day"
*Proceeds to play it perfectly*
At last! A highly talented professional guitarist that plays like me: stopping and starting trying to get it right... Love it!
How humble you are.
“Just add lots of vibrato. That’s my solution for everything.”
That made me laugh. Love it.
Videos like this are so satisfying seeing the process of a performance be shaped and cultivated.
Thank you!
AHHH YOU'RE PLAYING IS SO EXPRESSIVE! I play violin and absolutely love playing with your recording!
Gracias Alexandra, maestra...
As a sculptor and past wannabe guitarist and all around nerd, I greatly appreciate watching process pieces wherein a master of their craft opens up and shows us their development from a piece of raw material to a final polished work of art. Human creativity is 90% grit.
I think these “practice with me” videos are BRILLIANT! I especially like the tremolo one you did, to learn that famous piece whose name I’ll never learn to pronounce.
Too many well intentioned guitar tutorial videos are so perfect, you think, no way I can get there. But a largely unedited “practice with me” or “play along with me” video bridges the gap. 👍👍
I was hugely impressed with your skill, sight reading and just the way you navigate the fret board. It brought it all back to me.As a one time guitar enthusiast,(still am)I really appreciate how difficult it can be and how easily you seem to solve the phrasing to make it sound better.Thankyou for your share.I enjoyed it and your enthusiasm for the guitar.
Huge fan of your talent, Alexandra...
Thank you for including us for an insightful view of your practice.I would like to see you approach an equally complex piece that you have never seen for the first time and offer up suggestions on how you analyze and learn it.And any tips you have on memory skills would be appreciated.
Wow. Beautiful song and practice. I learned from your practice that a double line above a cluster of notes is when you pick up speed in playing. Thanks for putting this practice on CZcams. What a great learning tool and love how you play the guitar. You're one of my favorites. You make the song beautiful when you play it. Thanks for the great lesson.
loved it. Its great to see the playing and the music together
Buenos Aires, Tango y barrió querido!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you so Much!!!
This was a fantastic video. It was incredibly helpful to see how you practice learning a piece of music. Please do more of these!
Awesome...thanks for doing this. It's great having the music on top while you are playing also.
You are a great talent. I love the candid comments you make throughout this peek into one of your private practice sessions. Inspiring!
Thank you for giving us an unvarnished glimpse into your practice routine. It's nice to see that even the professionals have their own challenges and ways to overcome them.
Great idea sharing your practice and Tomplay is EXACTLY what I was looking for, MUCHAS GRACIAS
Bellissimo video....nulla di preconfezionato....ma solo la generosa UMILTÀ dell'artista che studia...thank you!!!!!!
EXCELLENT, merci pour vos partages, meilleurs & réalisations pour 2021
Dear Alexandra, this video was a treat for me. I really love this piece and seeing you playing it by reading the notes was really interesting to me. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Incredible beautiful music. Performance at a very high professional level. Thank you Alexandra
👍👏🌹🌹🌹💕.
Great! I like this type of video, thank you for sharing! 😊👏🏼
I agree ,nice to see such a talented player practise, gives a lot of inspiration to pick up your classic guitar,
I want to learn too, this is fabulous
This is awesome, just to demonstrate it’s about hard work and perseverance to nail a difficult piece in fact any piece. Thanks for being human.
Love this! Please do more! Is so interesting to see you praticing and practice with you haha Greetings from Costa Rica!
Can't wait to watch this🤗
Love this. Thank you A
Great idea to show the thousands of hours of practice it takes. Fantastic idea.
Thank you for taking the time to make a video of your practice session. This is so timely, I have forgotten how to read sheet music so following along really helped, especially since I’ve been wanting to get back into it.
Awesome Alexandra , thanks , beautiful song.
I loved this !!!!
Thank you, this is beyond awesome, so generous of you, this is so motivational.
I love it!!
this is somehow more motivating than it I thought
Love your accent, long fingers and the vibrato. Ive never used vibrato and your use of it adds so much to your playing. thanks for posting your practice because it shows other guitar players how much work it takes to relearn lost pieces. cheers from the yukon
It is a very difficult work and you showed us it so easily, it is magnificent.
Great concept, keep up the excellent work.
Really beautiful song and playing, thank you!
I have been learning classical guitar for 12 years and then after 3 years of almost no playing, I am getting back at it now since a few weeks. I am so happy so see this on youtube, this is the first time I see a video of practice instead of performance. I hope there will be others! :) thank you
Thanks for posting. It's encouraging to see a real pro practice and know that they struggle as well and always seek perfection.
crazy that i watched this like 6 months ago with no regard for the music except just to have a good time and now this piece makes me just ugly-sob and i’m here to learn from you!
Thank you Alexandra!!!! Thank-you for showing many secrets in your left and right hand fingerings! Thanks to youtube settings for slowing down this video which was also incredibly helpful. You are so kind! Blessings!!
Thanks so much for sharing your practice session. Shows how much work goes into making a piece sound nice It is very genuine and motivating
Люблю все, что Вы делаете. Мне очень близок Ваш репертуар по духу. Спасибо!
Purely wonderful!
I don't know which thing I am hooked to the most, the way you play guitar or your enchanting accent. both of them i think
The best video!
So good and natural
Thank you so much for a wonderful video.
Fantastic, explaining what you are doing and feeling by playing reminds me some 20th century record leaflets.
They somewhat make me in the mood and are giving me more imagination and information on the background.
Adding enjoyable and unique taste to the songs. Thank you!
This video is amazing! It makes me feel motivated to play despite some hard mistakes as I practice. Please, make more videos like this one!
Thanks for sharing your progress, that’s so inspiring and motivating to see.
I've been learning this piece too! Thanks for the video. It's been very insightful to see how you you would approach it!
Oh dear, you just made my day. My whole week, actually ;)
It was great to see you practice, thank you
Nice! It helps to get an idea of what your study seems like. Thanks!
I love videos like this. Please do more!
Really cool idea, I've never seen a video like this before. Like doing a master class with yourself....very helpful to watch!
Really cool!
Amazing... good job!!!
hypnotizing, your sound is really good and round. loved it
This video was so honest. I LOVED it.
its so nice to see you practicing! very motivational, thnks!
You made it so entertaining! loved it.
Such a talent and inspirational teacher top. You make people aspiring.
Learning how to play, and learning how to read music; watching you play along using that App was really helpful.
Gracias!!
it's so nice to see how you love the stuff you do :) and I can't stop smiling while watching this video beacause you look so cute being totally focused on playing :)
don't stop, and have fun! :)
You give me hope!
very very inspiring video! thank you for sharing this!!!
Thank you very helpful.
Unfortunately I was the only family member that failed to get the musical talent genes, except for occasionally writing poetry that people set to music years ago. However, your gifted guitar playing never ceases to be incredible calming for me, and helps me to be more creative given all of the things that I do daily. I so look forward to your new videos and hope that you always will keep going on to greater opportunities.
That was tons of fun!
que buen video! gracias y felicidades!
I think this is the first classical guitar practice video I've seen on CZcams.
For some reason, there're lots of violin practice videos but none for guitar
I kept my eyes on the sheet music and my ears on the notes you played as you practiced. I enjoyed listening to you progress with this composition. Honestly what I enjoyed most was experiencing a side of you that I have not yet seen. For example, you were hilarious when you said, "I have a memory like a goldfish.....". 😂
I thank you so very much, to me it's a very personal intimate moments, in your own home first thing in the morning drinking coffee, as I'm literally customizing a few guitar parts at the moment reviewing your practice and I wanted to say we, the people all over who love your music and heart, and you were kind enough to share, regardless if others share similar habits or not, you took your time to do this , I thank you, I say it with such detail for the ignorant pricks who thumb downed it; you all have choices! Alex; I respect and appreciate yours. Cheerz
very cool video!! keep rocking!
Very insightful, thanks
Great video!! Thank you!!
Greetigs from Argentina 🇦🇷❣️🙏🏼
Thank you
i'm playing this for an actor musicianship audition at the end of the month... i love this song so much i think it's so beautiful and you definitely did it justice! watching you practise is so funny because you say all the same things I do when i practise :D
CZcams algorithm got me here. A big THANK YOU to Alexandra.
Thank 4 enlightening my spirit.🤘
Mesmerizing.
How I love listen to you play the guitar ❤❤
Thank you. Very valuable. I’m far from this level of skill but can see how it would help more capable players. Thank you. Your effort encouraged even a beginner like me. Well done. Helpful and inspiring.
loved the video,
im just learning this piece and this just came perfect thanku
Great watching you practice 🙋♂️
This kind o video is really amazing! I think it's possible to learn a lot of things by seing profissionals practicing. See they correct their mistakes, change the fingering for the execution of some tricky passage and this kind of thing definitely can help students off lower levels to lean how to practice in a more effective way.
Nice !!
