      @@TheCompleteGuitarist Hard disagree on both counts. I think there is a time and place where each approach has its advantages - at least, in the Western classical tradition. Learning from sheets makes it easier to get an understanding of the structure and theory of a piece. Learning by ear trains your mind's ear and helps you to develop your own voice and interpretation. Ideally you learn some music both ways.

      You're THE person I've been meaning to find! I play the classical guitar and also own a cello. For years I've been putting off picking up the cello for real. My question is: do nails present a problem for holding the cello bow?

    • @Bu-bo-Bu-bo
      @Bu-bo-Bu-bo Před 3 lety +3

      @@FaithlessDwarf Ahahhh, this question.
      That's a funny question. I have *never* been able to have real nails as a guitar player, my teacher "accepted" that (I ended with abrsm 8 + 1 or 2 years (i am in a country with a different system but i know this one so maybe it helps you), and he sort of dropped the case and tried to get the best of me with shorter nails.
      Today i'm more of a cellist, but i still play guitar, so without nail. Sorry if i can't give you the right answer :)

    I think these “practice with me” videos are BRILLIANT! I especially like the tremolo one you did, to learn that famous piece whose name I’ll never learn to pronounce.
    Too many well intentioned guitar tutorial videos are so perfect, you think, no way I can get there. But a largely unedited “practice with me” or “play along with me” video bridges the gap. 👍👍
