    Good tip about holding the mold close to the spout. I kept wondering why pours came out badly.

    Ive been thinking of trying a 60 degree hook on that mold too. I do wish the 30 degree hook had more brand options.

      @N2TW_customlures  Před 10 měsíci

      I haven’t tried any 60 degree hooks in this. I just use the stock hooks for light wire applications and then the Mustad hook for heavy wire

    I was able to modify my mold, just as you explained. Have you tried to modified that mold for an under spin? I’ve been searching all over for that.

      I haven’t done the underspin modification yet but it’s 100% doable. When I get caught up on other projects I’ll do a video on that one

    Is there not a normal hook that will fit it without modifying the mold??

    • @N2TW_customlures

      There might be a hook that will fit without modifying but I’m not 100% sure

    does your lead pot every get fill where the stream is slow coming out? If so what do you do to clear it?

    • @N2TW_customlures
      @N2TW_customlures  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, over time the spout can start to get debris in it and slow it down. I always keep an old hook or a pick on hand and shove it into the spout while the lead is hot and scrape around. This will usually clear it up and if the issue won’t go away then I just replace the pot.

    so ive seen a lot of people say you need to put a new mold over a candle to get the black sut on it so the lead doesnt stick. I noticed you did not do that. Any thoughts about that?

    • @N2TW_customlures
      @N2TW_customlures  Před 9 měsíci +1

      It really just depends on the molds. Some jig head shapes come out of the molds easier than others. The poison tail and the finesse swimbait molds are 2 that could use either smoke or drop out spray to assist them out of the mold. I personally just prefer the clean look of the mold without it and just gently wiggle the heads out of the molds. If you are making large quantities at a time then smoking the mold would save you a lot of time. I don’t make enough at a time to really have the desire to do it. The other added benefit is that it allows the lead to flow smoother so if you have a mold that tends to not fill completely then the smoke could fix your issue. Since most of these molds are cast aluminum no 2 molds are exactly the same. I personally don’t have any molds that warrant smoking them to get complete fills. Hopefully this helps clarify. There are benefits to doing it but it’s definitely not necessary for most molds

      @@N2TW_customlures i appreciate the info and love your videos... I have learned alot from you! Do you use the drop out spray in the posion tail jig head mold or you dont use anything on it?

      @@jacobpicard5384 I’m glad your enjoying the videos!! I don’t use the drop out but it would help. I just personally don’t mind having to gently wiggle them out

    First of all, thank you for replying. Do I have to modify and dremel the mold if I went with the larger size mold and using the Mustad 32886NP BN hook?

    • @N2TW_customlures
      @N2TW_customlures  Před 10 měsíci

      I added more info to your other comment but you can use up to the 4/0 size without modification 👍 5/0 and larger will require the mod

      Happy New Year! I made a couple of purchases using your code. You’ve been so helpful with your tutorials that I just want to contribute a bit. I did some research and after some trial and error found that the VMC 7216BN 5/0 will fit in this mold without any modifications necessary. Also, do you have any thoughts about what hook substitutes I can use for the new shad finesse heads? Those dang Victory 10111 are hard to come by.

      @@johnnyphive4083 Happy New Year to you as well and thank you for using our code!! I truly appreciate all the support 🤝 once I get over this sickness the videos will be back up and running. As for that mold it’s a very tricky one. Those 10111 hooks have a longer shank from the hook to the eye. I’ve found a few 3/0 and 4/0 hooks that will fit the mold but only up to the 1/4oz size. The larger sizes seem to only fit the 10111s. I’ll list the ones I know fit below. There is also 1 other Mustad hook that I know fits and I’ll comment that number once I get back and can double check

      Sry to keep bothering you but I'm just starting and I'd like to know if your dremel is the stylo 2050? Are you happy with it or do you wish you had a bigger unit? The 3/32 you used , did it come in the kit?

    • @N2TW_customlures
      @N2TW_customlures  Před rokem +1

      @@stevemyers1611 I don’t mind questions at all 👍 yes I use the 2050 and am very happy with it. I honestly prefer this smaller one to keep me from getting carried away and grinding more than necessary. Honestly I don’t remember if that bit came with the dremel or if it was in a separate kit I bought. I think it came with it but not 100% sure

    What’s the advantage of the EWG compared to the straight shank?

    • @N2TW_customlures
      @N2TW_customlures  Před rokem +1

      I like having the larger gap between the tip of the hook and whatever trailer I have rigged on the jig. I feel like it makes it slightly easier to set the hook. Both hooks work great though
