@@JFriisNhe literally had the 2nd best save percentage in the PL last season only behind David Raya. 3rd in the world is high but he’s definitely top 10. Suppose being so tall works against him because he makes saves look so easy. He had 5% more save percentage then Ramsdale. But apparently it’s embarrassing to say Popes a better keeper 😭

Completely understand where Reev is coming from on Ederson.
Last season had the league lowest ‘shots per 90’ at 1.84, but had the second worst save percentage at 50%. He went on a run at one point of in 9/15 games he played, he conceded a goal from the first shot on target.
Unbelievable with his feet, best in the world easily on the ball, but last year was pretty dreadful at shot stopping.
Was only last season though, every other year prior has been sensational.
Tbh the shots per 90 stat is useless for city because they defend so good. The save percentage is better but the sample size is probably the smallest out of all teams in the league and when city face a shot on goal its usually a 1v1 after a team hits them on a counter. I think he had a good year and didnt make many mistakes plus made some big saves in the champions league
He is pretty average when it comes to shot stopping, for me not even top ten in the prem. His feet is what makes him be talked about among the top in the world

City are a bit of an anomaly u see, pep is probably the most defensive coach in the world, as funny as that sounds. He controls games and wants his team to have 70+% possession in order to limit other teams’ opportunities to score. This paired with their world class midfield and defence kinda makes it so that ur lucky to see a team shoot more than 6 or 7 times against them, let alone get shots on target

Completely agree with Tom saying Ederson is underrated nowadays. He has such a different role to all these other keeper because City are so dominant but he is a big factor in that dominance

Yeah, he’s the best in the world. I think the only side he won’t start for is City but thats mainly because Ederson suits their style of play better. Overall though he’s clear.

Onana is not a better shotstopper than De Gea. Goalkeepers are supposed to do more in the modern game than shot stopping, and that is why Ederson is such a good keeper.

As a city fan I agree with Reev that Ederson isn’t as great of a shot stoppers as the rest of the keepers on the list but ederson is one of, if not the best, keeper with the ball at his feet. Ederson can also be prone to a mistake

Nah I’ll admit Ederson used to be mistake prone, but this treble season he’s been pretty flawless with huge saves in big games. Still not Allison or courtois level shot stopping but he’s top 4 gk

There is a double edged sword with Ederson, yes he faces a low amount of chances compared to most and had a low save %. But the caviat to that is the reason that is is that when City concede chances, they usually concede very good chances

Martinez is very underrated imo he allows villa to play offside trap and such a high line cos he's such a good sweeper keeper. Ridiculous at saving penalties and getting in player's heads and everyone says he had a v good World Cup but he plays like that at villa aswell he just don't get the recognition as there's less times he needs to step up like less penalty shootouts and big moments. He hasn't conceded for the last 712 mins for Argentina

Ederson isn’t mistake prone in possession, it’s his horrible shot stopping ability and poor decision making when choosing to parry or catch a shot or rushing out of goal and just taking out the player
His possession ability and ball playing ability is unmatched, he’s on his own level with his passing but I don’t rate him purely because I like to have a safe pair of hands when a shot goes past the back 4
City fan taking here, ederson is my keeper, I don’t like him for the panic attacks he causes me but I’ll back him nonetheless
He’s saved your ass in the CL final, his shot stopping is not horrendous by any means. World class? No. Average, with some shutters but the ability to be world class? Yes
