How To Make Pav Bhaji Recipe | Street Food | The Bombay Chef - Varun Inamdar

    Ingredients
    500 gms roughly cut potatoes
    100 gms green peas
    500 gms chopped tomatoes
    Salt to taste
    For masala
    200 gms butter
    200 gms finely chopped onions
    1/2 tsp jeera
    4 tbsp chilli powder
    1 tbsp garlic paste
    1 medium chopped capsicum
    1/2 tsp haldi
    1 tbsp garam masala
    Salt to taste
    Red edible colour (optional)
    Water as required
    For assembly
    Lemons wedges
    Chopped onions
    Butter
    Chopped Coriander
    Ladi pav to serve
    Method:
    - In a pan add potatoes, peas, tomatoes water and and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes
    - Mash the whole mixture properly and add little bit of water
    - In a pan add butter, onions, cumin seeds, garlic paste and chilli powder and mix it all well
    - Add capsicum, turmeric and garam masala
    - Add the mashed pulp into the pan and mix it nicely and evenly
    - Add food color - red ( Its optional)
    - To adjust the consistency add water and keep it on slow simmer
    - Apply butter on the pav and toast them on a pan
    Pav Bhaji is ready to be served!

    Tried making as soon as finished watching this. It came out superb' although there was no red color additive. Added 2 chillies, for a bit of spice, totally satisfied. Nice instructions Chef saab! Soch raha hoo sadak pe kab shuru karu...

    One of my 2 favorite Indian snacks (the other being idli + vada + chutney + sambar). It's even better if you add some mango powder, paprika powder, and a tiny bit of black salt. And add some dhaniya leaves BEFORE it's cooked. Greetings from Slovenia.

    Really that was Awesome ! I first time tried it and followed the instructions exactly, except the colour and capsicum (I don't like it), and everyone in my family was stunned ! (Including me) especially because they never expected this performance from a boy like me... :-)
    It tasted GREAT ! Thanks a lot for uploading. By the way, didn't like the (over) acting though, (No Offense) but the recipe was Simply Superb ! Thanks again !

    For colour, add Kashmiri red chili paste, which doesn't make pav bhaji spicy and adds great colour. I use this while making pav bhaji at home. I also add regular red chilli powder for the spice. it tastes and looks great :)

    Thanks! for red color you can also try annatto seeds soaked in boiling or room temp water. We call it roucou in Trinidad. Also called Oucou or Achiote. It can also be made with oil.

    Eating extra butter will burn your fats...try it.....I eat 1 spoon of Amul butter on my bread every single day for last 22 years. Now I am 35 and fit & slim. I used to eat butter in childhood bcoz I was obsessed with it. But now I know the benefits of eating it. Try desi cow ghee... that's too good for health too.
