Elvis Costello bu şarkıyı bir süpermarkette gördüğü çalışan bir kız için yazdığını söylemiş. O güzel kızın içindeki hüzünü görmüş ve aşık olmuş. Alison hakkında daha fazla şey öğrenmek isteyenlere ise “Much could be undone by saying more.” yani "Daha fazla bahsedersem, çok şey hiç yapılmamış olabilir" diyerek cevap vermiştiir. Yani şarkının içindeki sır ile var olduğunu belirtmiştir.
