Paul McCartney can't read notes and Brian Wilson doesn't know technical terms like 'inversion' and yet they're among the greatest songwriters of their time. I think this says something about the reductionist approach to music theory, and maybe to a lot of other things as well.
One of the things I love about Brian is how he doesn’t use complex terminology and how he even forgets what he’s used and certain musical definitions. He’s very laid back about it. It gives him a real innocence No showing off and no music theory. Anyone can learn and play and know music extremely well if they want to, but very rarely are people TALENTED with music and songwriting abilities.
I remember seeing an interview with Dennis where he said early on he was so amazed when Brian played him a new song - i believe it was IN MY ROOM - and Dennis asked Brian "how do you do it" - he was in awe of Brian's talents - you grow up with your older brother, live in the same house, same room and all of a sudden your brother is able to do almost other worldly things musically
Is this from a documentary? If so, where can i find it? 😁

"Van Dyke told me" is the most innocent thing I've ever heard anybody say 😄
The way the brothers always talked about Brian with such love and reverence always brought a tear to my eye. They cared about each other so much.
I always felt a sense of sadness coming from Carl.
"Ostinato! I've never heard that before!" Man how I love Brian Wilson. Absolute genius!
Two great bands in my opinion to come out of California The Doors and The beachboys. Does anyone agree with me.?.
The Blues Brothers
What amazing musicians and singers these two were
You can criticise all you want but these boys were the icons of the 60s!!!

RIP Carl - we’ll never forget you!
Wow! That was so special to see the two brothers together. Something mysterious and wonderful about Carl. he seemed to have a lot of depth.
This is adorable. I wish this went on for four hours those two talking. They’re so cute being bros together
