    I would be curious to look at the edge under a microscope. I've seen a lot of blades on youtube and in FB groups done with this setup and to the naked eye they do not look like convex edges they look like flat grinds.

    Great video. How do you get the right angle for the convex rod had the KME for a few days and your bids really help.

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před 7 lety

      Convex edges really don't have an angle, Per se. But, you can check your angle with an angle cube at the front, middle and end of the stone to get an idea.

      KnifeKrazy would you trust this system on a bark river bravo 1?

    any tips on how to get the rod centred properly?
    I was having a bit of a hard time doing it. I found putting it on a flat surface (counter top) and then kneeling down to look down the carrier to make sure its even. It worked just wondering if there is an easier way.

      Not really. Just eyeball it the best you can.

    First off, I have a KME and I love it.........Does it really matter if the edge is convex'd or straight? Is a convex edge sharper than a straight edge? In a blind test with the same knife sharpened to the same degree could you even tell the difference?

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před rokem

      For the average everyday knife guy, it don’t matter. Hard use, go convex. The edge lasts longer.

  • @ThaGnome70065
    @ThaGnome70065 Před 8 lety +1

    my convex edges come out way better looking than that by freehand sharpening. but I would still get it and use it because I'm sure once you really figure out how to do it they will probably look the same as the ones I do. mine look exactly like a Japanese Katana.

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před 8 lety

      Yes I'm still getting the hang of it. I'm sure if I moved on to the water stones or the lapping film. It would really smooth out the uneven look.

      I’m sure it can with this and the scissor attachment.

      Not really any difference other than color. They give about the same results. IMO

    Does KME make a Stop for the Other end of the Rod? So once you get the Stone/Stroke length setup it will NOT slide off of the knife on the way down? I am just about to buy a System, I have it down between the KME and Hapstone. My hangup on the KME is it Not having a Stop at the other end. Thank you

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před 5 lety +1

      KME sells the stop collars on their website.

    Where is the stone sitting on the blade, in other words the middle, top or back of the stone in order to set the cube and get your angle.

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před 7 lety

      You can check the angle anywhere you want but, I do my angle setting at the middle of the jaw/clamp. That's generally around the middle of the blade.

    I'm playing around with my kme and new stones I got. I'm confused why ur knife is not centered on this one like your other vids. OK now I see. Sorry lol. Serrated

    • @KnifeKrazy.
      @KnifeKrazy.  Před rokem

      Different blade will require different placement in the jaws. Whatever works best, go with it.
