    This first video focuses upon the pack's features and initial setup, as well as introducing Harvey to it.
    Note: Thanks to a viewer, a mistake should be noted. At timestamp 4:33, I've captioned the pack weighs 3.6lbs or 7.9kgs...that's obviously incorrect. It should read 3.6lbs or 1.6kg. Please excuse the error, and thanks again to the viewer for correcting me.

    Part 2 of 2: • Green Cheek Conure in ...
    More info:
    1. The loops on the back of the pack could be used with a vehicle's seat belt, to secure during transit. (3:40)
    2. When the water bottle is used on the pack, that side's privacy flap can't be fully deployed.
    3. The rear side of the pack does not have a privacy flap. (3:34)
    4. I do not know if the support bar (seen at 1:08 ) is a part of the pack or if it's included only when one purchases the optional zipper protection flaps, which I recommend, personally.
    5. Being a Green Cheek, Harvey is of a smaller conure variety, so I would suggest getting a larger pack for other popular conures, e.g., Suns, Jendays, etc. Additionally, I find Harvey's pack size to be suitable for only one bird; Celltei offers larger sizes and options for those who need to transport more than one bird.
    This video is not sponsored. I purchased this pack and have provided my own insight, opinions, and experiences for those to whom it might benefit.

    Major mistake in the subtitles.
    If it weighs 3.6lbs that means that it weighs 1.6 kg instead of the 7.9kg that the video specified.

      You are absolutely correct! Thank you for noting this mistake, for bringing it to my attention. I have no idea why or how it escaped my attention; I'm embarrassed, naturally. 😳 I've pinned your comment so the error can be promptly seen. Thanks, again. 👍

    I have 3 of these and they are awesome. 2 this style and 1 of the other model. I first bought the medium thinking it would also be good for an overnight cage but that idea wasn’t really practical. The xs size gets used daily in the warm months for my green cheek and parrotlet. Now I’m looking at that new travel aviary. I love this company.

    Excellent video. Getting my sun conure tomorrow. We travel 60 miles in a car on weekend's so I wanted to make sure we have a good solid bag for him. This one is very expensive but looks like the best one for the little guy. Thanks so much

    Hello, everyone. Due to the new policies issued by CZcams, this week, this channel is scheduled to be demonetized at the end of February, unless it can reach 1,000 subscribers. While I make videos for the pleasure of it, both as a creative outlet and as a way to share some of my chronicles, every little bit of income is, of course, helpful. I have appreciated those who have opted to join me, already; I would greatly appreciate and welcome new subscribers. I aim to continue evolving and growing as a channel. Thank you for your support and time.

    my lovebird chews everything. I want to get him a pak-o- bird but I am afraid he will chew the interior completely :( i can totally see him tearing up the interior plastic.

    • @ExtantChronicles
      @ExtantChronicles  Před 6 lety +6

      After having the pack for over a year, now, the pack is still in fantastic condition. The only plastic inside the pack is the removable flooring (secured via velcro)--I keep a towel over it, for Harvey's comfort, so he doesn't really pay attention to it--and the optional plastic zipper guards (seen at 0:47), to which he hasn't messed with, really.
      Harvey LOVES chewing on things so I'm impressed with durability of the pack! He seems to be so enthralled with the stimulation of his surroundings, that the architecture of the pack is "boring," except for the enjoyment of running his beak along the mesh. I don't doubt, however, that if he was stressed, from being contained in the pack for too long, that he would begin deconstructing it, as any bird would in such a confinement.
      Whether I have Harvey hanging in our mango tree while I do some yard work, or i have him on my back for an adventure, he's content and happy, and has not resorted to destroying his pack. (I do keep toys in there for him, either on the flooring or suspended from one of the hooks.)

      Hello, Leah Quesenberry. I got it from Celltei; there's a link and more info in this video's description box.
      Harvey is still enjoying his pack, abundantly. I can use the straps to hang him in our mango tree while I weed the garden, which he loves, as well. Whether he's being carried during a walk, hanging from a tree, or sitting in the park, it's proven a very useful pack. I was grateful for it during a natural disaster threat, too, (which didn't impact us, fortunately); it's well-suited as an emergency carrier or as an enrichment-opportunity carrier.
      Thank you for watching.

    I just started to look into backpacks/carrier's. How has this brand held up over the years?

    • @ExtantChronicles
      @ExtantChronicles  Před 5 lety +1

      It has held up wonderfully, still performing impressively! I fully expected more wear-and-tear by now, i.e., the zipper starting to catch, the interior materials giving way to Harvey's beak, etc., but it's intact and looks great! Harvey and I have had a lot of fun and enrichment outside, from walks and hikes, to suspending him in our mango tree while I do yard work, to the peace of mind I have from knowing this is a a sturdy pack for him in the event of natural disaster evacuations. I am so glad I made the investment, getting this pack.
      The only issue I've come across is the optional water bottle (not manufactured by Celtei). It leaks from the top, if completely full, while walking. This causes some water to settle onto the metal grommet where it's spigot is inserted into the pack, which has caused it to slightly rust. A gasket along the lid of the water bottle or overall better design would be an improvement, but this issue is not enough for me to refrain from using the water bottle.

    Hello have you had any troubles with the zips coming undone at the bottom base of the carrier - seeing the video has me worried as the zip for the base doesn't go past the base up towards the sides. I have a little budgie who I keep debating on and off whether to get him one so we can go on walks and adventures as he absolutely loves sitting and exploring the garden in a smaller bird cage and I know he would really enjoy adventures in a carrier. But the anxiety of the base not being secure stops me have you had any troubles with the design?thank you so much for making such a Lovely informative video :)

    • @ExtantChronicles
      @ExtantChronicles  Před 3 lety

      Hello, J Anni! I can understand your concern, seeing how the design might initially cause concern. I personally can attest that there's been zero issues with the zippers. I have not had any trouble with the zippers coming undone, anywhere on the pack, after years of use. (I do personally recommend the optional wide panels, that help provide extra pack support and protection from would-be zipper chewers, though.) Harvey is still enjoying his adventures with me in the pack, which has been holding up wonderfully, to this day--on hiking trips, walking jaunts, brief beach visits, incalculable trips through town, emergency readiness drills (we live with active volcanoes), etc. It's been such a success that we purchased one of their double compartment packs for when we're out with Harvey and Betty (new rescue mynah bird). I hope my input has helped you.
      I wish you and your little fella well.
      Also note, for your little budgie, they do have the extra small pack: www.celltei.com/products/pak-o-bird-xs-size.html

    Hey there! I've been doing a lot of research into purchasing a new backpack for my feathered friend, and this Pak-o-Bird Backpack seems like the best option. However, after endless searching and hard work, I cannot seem to get their website to work as intended. Have they shut down their sales? I am in desperate need of a safe and secure backpack for my bird, Ziggy. He is a black-headed caique, and he is my best friend! He's my support animal and I take him with me everywhere, but his current backpack is not the best; hence me looking to buy one of these. Is anyone else having this issue with their website not loading/registering correctly? It almost looks like it's been hacked or shut down? I would appreciate anyone's response.
    If ANYONE is wanting to sell their backpack second-hand to me, I would be more than willing to go through with this purchase as I am desperate. Purchase can be done via PayPal for safety measures on both sides of the purchase.

      Hello, Finn Hanlon. I've just now been able to access the website, specifically the bird carriers, with no issue. Here is a direct link to species-specific carriers, specifically for caiques: www.celltei.com/birds-parrots/caiques/ I added a selection to the cart and was able to proceed to the checkout page, successfully. Maybe it was a temporary glitch, while you were trying to access the page? I hope the issue is resolved for you. May you and Ziggy have many good days ahead!
      If you still have issues accessing the website, here is Celltei's alternate contacts:
      Celltei's phone number (from website) is: 1-718-388-8882
      Their email (from website) is: info@celltei.com
      (I don't work for them nor am I compensated by them; I simply appreciate the frustration you're experiencing.)

    Can you provide any details about the water bottle you used?

    • @ExtantChronicles
      @ExtantChronicles  Před 3 lety

      Sure. If you check out the video at 2:19 and 2:24, you'll see the water bottle and some of its packaging. It's by the brand, Lexit: 300mL/10.14 fl. oz., BPA free, size "small." Harvey has had no trouble using it. The only complaint I have is water will leak out from the top when in motion; it's designed to be sedentary on the side of a cage. I've been figuring out how to add a gasket to prevent this. Hope this helps.

    Do you have a fret for water?

    • @ExtantChronicles
      @ExtantChronicles  Před 4 lety +1

      There are two options for water supply for the pack: a water bottle, as demonstrated in the video or a second bowl that can be mounted on the inside. We use the water bottle, mostly, since the bowl would be better suited for stationary applications, i.e., water sloshing around while in motion.

      I can appreciate that the pack is not the cheapest alternative, concerning bird carriers, HOWEVER, I have not had a single issue with the pack; it is still strong and sturdy. They've used quality materials in the construction of this pack; Harvey's beak and curiosity have been worthy adversaries of their integrity but the pack remains resilient and secure. I don't regret the investment, at all, especially know that his life is more enriched because of it. Thank you for watching.
