So I taped this for the sole purpose of having a personal souvenir of the evening. Yes, I know the video isn't HD. I know the audio is a little overdriven. I know my camera work is pretty bad, but honestly, I pressed the button, held it up and didn't pay any more attention to it since I was enjoying the show. Also, this is one of my favourite SP songs, so there was no chance in hell the camera was going to be still.
I'm still in disbelief that I heard this live.

I was so happy to see the original group play it live when I saw them headline for Lollapalooza in '94. they almost never play this song live anymore.

The outro of the lead guitar in the original mix from siamese dream is still one of Billy's best guitar parts. It is buried under so much distortion that it's hard to pick out, but it is absolutely brilliant in the resolution of the overall melody. I wish we had more people, and even billy himself, explaining and playing bits from songs like quiet.
one of my favorite albums of all time. I was at the perfect age when it came out, 22. Was so easy to get wrapped up in the pumpkins vs Nirvana stuff back then knowing that Billy used upwards of 40 guitar tracks for songs on the album. I don’t think it takes away from the genius but I can see why people did. I can also see why people overlooked moments like the one you comment about.
This was absolutely one of my favorite songs off this album...

Me and I mistook many words
I always liked this song better than the hits. The riff has tension. That's why it's great. I don't understand why he didn't like it. I think it's interesting that bands write and record songs they don't even like
I agree. It's the most cathartic song on the album in my opinion. Billy Corgan in the past didn't like the song because he said he ripped off the main riff from an undisclosed band. But that's just Billy being his usual own worst critic. He's so much better than he gives himself credit.
Jason Jay Sometimes on Siamese Dream I'll just listen and rock out to Cherub Rock and Quiet, then start over again. Over and over. They really work well together without the rest of the album.

Yeah I used to do that too. The thing is that Cherub Rock & Quiet are so damn good together that when you get to the over-played radio song "Today" it becomes such a buzz-kill and mood-changer that I have to skip that track. I usually skip to Rocket or Geek USA next. The other songs really require a different mood and state of mind to listen to, like after party songs versus before party songs.
yeah, I'm the same way man. i love this song. It would be nice if the band didn't seem so robotic even they play.

This isn't a "corporate show," this is a VIP pre show concert at one of their regular gigs. You've got to pay big money on top of your ticket to get in. If he's having trouble paying the mortgage as you say, these are helping.
you got that right. matt....steve ( may not be his name - the drummer during the adore tour), they never mattered much. Jimmy was always THE drummer for this band.

They seem to be doing a lot of shows like this in front of not many people strange really they are very well known.
This, Cherub Rock and Soma have the best solos. This is the song that sealed the deal for me. I liked Today and Disarm, but this one did it.
Too bad he just wings the solo, but if you listen to these three solos, they sound comped.. So I'm not sure he can even duplicate them... Maybe not even in the studio.
It is a great solo and I think you're right about it being comped. Eddie Van Halen did that too sometimes.
People seem to be more interested in recording a nice shot with their fancy devices, than in enjoying this awesome song.

That's pretty funny, I have always thought the same thing as Billy. I never really liked the song and wondered why it was second, between Cherub Rock and Today, which are both phenomenal songs.
Oh right that makes sense I just found it kind of odd that they should have to be doing stuff like this I mean they are hugely successful, but not even rock bands seem to avoided the recession.
Why would any rock band play in such a sterile place unless they're a Steely Dan cover band playing a retirement party for some 3M employee named Steve?

Jimmy was such a beast on drums, but Mike is going to be just as good. Jeff and Nicole are, in my opinion, better than James and D'arcy or Melissa. The more I hear and watch the new lineup, the more I like them. People just don't want to admit that they sound great because they want to be one of those people who "loved the Pumpkins back when it was the original lineup."

Looks like he's playing a G# in octaves. It fits because it's the major 3rd of E major.
