- Tyson Fury, the Gypsy King, is a professional boxer and the two-time World Heavyweight Champion.
In our conversation, Tyson opens up in a way not heard before about his mental health struggles, his challenging childhood and the dangerous nature of obsession. Although Tyson has celebrated the highest-highs, he has also suffered the lowest-lows, with the most monumental events in his life leading into deep depression and suicidal thoughts.
Tyson has now become a passionate mental health advocate. He is able to share valuable lessons, explore what he would have done differently and how he is now living one day at a time, being present in every moment.
Tyson's book "Gloves Off" is out now.

Thank you to Tyson for this amazing conversation! 🙏

Completely ignores the mum question
Quality peace guys, what I liked is you just let him talk, not question after question. Tyson is a very interesting character
Yes
I thought it was Shit , might aswel watch the joe Rogan one from 100 years ago , boring
Great interview fellas , I hope that mug true Geordie is taking notes on how ttreat the gypsy king , world heavy weight champion , don’t let the ego beat yous like Geordies did
I listened to this interview and literally just filled out an application to seek therapy. Thank you Tyson so inspiring 🙏
I think we all need therapy after that.

If you have never experienced an anxiety disorder and/or depression. You will never understand how great this man is. We won't get another. Best comeback in history. Best heavyweight in history
Do fucking what? Say again 🤣🤣🤣
lol Tyson Fury is a drug cheat who only fought bums and has beens he never beat a good fighter in their prime
@deek the pict you've not experienced it
Facts mate
@deek the pict yeah slapped it out of you that hard that your sat on CZcams giving people abuse whilst hiding behind a fake profile picture
Listening to Tyson takes me back to when I lost my head and had similar thoughts too. Anxiety and depression are evil. Big respect to anyone who continues to win their fight against mental illness, it's the hardest thing in the world to do.
How did you get better . And how long were you suffering with it ? Did you take medication? Thanks
@@ibrarhussain5536 I had it bad for over a year. Before that I tried to ignore the symptoms and "man-up" for a few years which is the worse thing to do. I got better with self-taught CBT and mindfulness and staying off the things in life that make depression worse such as drink, drugs and it might sound strange but sugar too. It took a lot of mental strength and a mighty effort to get back to some sort of peace and unfortunately many don't get the help in time they need or to help themselves. I've put strategies in place now when I feel a dark cloud passing over and usually the epsiodes don't last as long as they used to. Good luck brother if you suffer too.
@@ibrarhussain5536 it’s different for everyone! Just talk to people you trust and talk to the professionals they will help you massively! And stay away from people who make you feel like shit
Im nearly 60. I've asked God to kill me several times per year every year. I'm still here. I have to train as often as I can. Like Tyson said before, don't do well if I miss 2 days in a row and I have my basic routine too.
Karlos
Not if you understand your own mind sufficiently.
This man will never know how much he's helped me over the years, especially with his come back after the weight and mental health issues more so.
Genuine down to earth bloke 👌🏼
Total agree with you brother. All the haters have no understanding of who Tyson Fury really is. Is so wrong that he's not given the credit he deserves. Should be knighted but our country support's the likes of Jimmy Saville instead of the real Great Britain's like Fury x
Great in he,?? Top Boxer as well as a top, top, lad,!! Hail the 🤴 KING, !!!
@@matthewarmitage6681 WHAT'S THE MATTER PAL,?? DID JIM NEVER FIX IT FOR YA,?!! hee, hee, sorry that might of been a bit below the belt, !.oops I've gone and done it again,!!!! But on a serious note your absolutely spot on bro, that's what the powers that be do in our fukin country, but is it any fukin wonder when some of the Royal family are BANG AT IT,!!!!!!!?
This conversation will become more important as time goes by. Definition of a role model. Hollywood couldn’t write it
I can totally relate to this! massive inspiration!
Tyson speaks with such clarity about mental illness. His experience resonates with so many people including myself. Being in denial is the barrier between despair and happiness.
He played you like a fool
@@adamthedude9655you think he’s faking it?
This is why i can’t see him ever losing, just finds a way to overcome anything in & out the ring
For someone who knows the emotions which you describing all too well, I thank you Tyson for being an inspiration not just as a boxer but as a human being.
The hardest part of anxiety/mental health is explaining it to someone. It's next to impossible because most people cannot identify with it. It's like watching a house pet get cancer. They can't tell you what's wrong and sometimes, you can't see the effects physically. I appreciate Tyson because he's able to articulate it so well. He's very relatable and his story gives a lot of people hope. Thank you Tyson.
Well said mate
100%
You can if you've saw it close up, l have had a couple of people in my life that l saw as soon as he talked about the dark times, it took me straight back.
sly_tendencies87
Maybe address the need for attention rather than the need to tell others about the problem. Depression is a self-centered activity.
There is an epidemic of depression even before covid because everybody is encouraged to talk about their problems focusing on themselves all the time.
THIS IS NOT THE WAY!
Meditation.
Keep strong all my strugglers who suffer with anxiety and depression its raw sad and needs to be more helped on.
I’m currently on my journey with anxiety and depression it’s been the toughest thing I’ve ever faced I’m 52 and getting there slowly it’s tough at times but listening to people like Tyson gives me hope that I can beat or control this illness all I would say to any men out there talk it’s hard I admit but confide in someone and talk it’s the best thing I have done and be honest about everything it will help good luck all .
Best of Luck Lee.
Take time to understand your Circadian clock we all have this in us.
You need to get a good grip on what you eat.
Breathing is massive on this one and it needs to be thought about and balanced.
I am no councilor but I have been very close to total breakdown and it's very hard to get out of if you leave it.
You need to observe your self and the way you think.
Write your thoughts down good or bad not a diary just a reference to how you feel and this will link it to why.
Look up the Asian squat and practice it this takes time but it will sort your balance out.
It's all linked.
Good man.
Good age to be, youre a lot mature and calmer and life's probably a lot simpler. Good luck
@@slayer5097 I hope a lot off men listen to these athletes it’s ok to talk whatever age the stigma surrounding mental health is a big issue I think.
They are long hard battles, but when you see it through you come out stronger and better prepared for future battles and how to deal with it and life itself. Exercise was key for me and goals. Doesn't matter the size of the goal, step by step. Good luck!
God loves you❤️
I've never ever heard someone explain these mental health episodes so well word by word in detail its exactly how it is exactly how I've felt on many occasions
Well done to all three of you for providing such a captivating, compelling episode. And Jake, your empathy and desire to see Tyson happy and fulfilled is to be applauded 👏👏👏
Tyson shows that even the best at what they do can have the struggles and pressures many of us face. His conversation was so honest and raw and it was great to hear his story.
I’ve never been a big fan of yours Jake Misty due to how you have come across in Sports Media but after watching this interview I can see there is so much more to you as a presenter and human being.
This was probably the finest interview I’ve ever had the pleasure to watch.
Tyson is a highly intelligent and amazing human being.
Subbed and liked 👍🏼
The honest, openness, just straight talking that Tyson is doing here about his difficult experiences, is just an exceptional thing for him to be doing. This is such an impressive interview.
well said Tyson, any man who admits his vulnerabilities and then does something about it is a true fighter,
I'm not a boxer and I'm not a 7ft man. I'm actually a 5ft 2 woman. But, I can relate to everything Tyson has spoken about surrounding mental health. Ups and downs, Panic and anxiety from a very young child, psychosis -- seeing and hearing things that are not there, believing people were trying to poison me or harm me, being scared and petrified, and trying to kill myself. I was diagnosed with bipolar and a whole litany of other issues at 47. I cried when the psychiatrist told me I had bipolar, not because I was afraid or ashamed, but because like Tyson I finally had an answer for why life had been so difficult for so many years. Life is not perfect but since medication and lots of hard work realising what triggers episodes and what I can and shouldn't do, life is calmer and more peaceful. Medication is NOT a bad thing if you have balance in your life--taking medication has helped me know myself, be calm, have much less ups and downs.
The BIGGER issue, though, here is access to mental health services in the NHS and how awful that process is -- I would like that to be a mission, to get better help for other people. Congrats, Tyson, you are the heavy weight champion of the world by coming to a place where you can function beyond mental health-- that is the biggest mountain to climb. 🧡
Hello Victoria. Thanks so much for sharing your life experience. My daughter suffers from alot of the symptoms you have listed above. You have given me pathway to getting the correct treatment for her. And you are spot on regarding the NHS and access to treatment. We have experienced the frustration ourselves.
Im glad that your life has got better with the meds. Love and peace to you from London.
Amazing interview, and Fury's life experiences are a mirror of many people from a tough background.
I can see so many parallels with my own life, and had to do exactly the same thing as Fury, so listening to him talk was fascinating.
Blokes don't like to talk about their mental health, nor do they like to admit they have struggles in life, it's the bloke way to just put on a brave face and try to portray their lives as nothing wrong everything's great.
Thank you for this amazing interview, and thank you to Fury for being so honest and really going in deep with the way he has had to find a way to cope with the double life, the stresses, and the mental health struggles that many blokes have to deal with.

Best Tyson fury interview I’ve ever seen and as someone who has mental health challenges has been so reassuring and informative to listen to. His transparency is a serious attribute.
What a great interview guys! What a great mental health message to people who are suffering x
What an honest and open interview, Mr Tyson Fury is a man of integrity and strength, who is willing to share with the world his experience of poor mental health, Thankyou to this channel for allowing Tyson to tell his story.
He was a druggie he didn’t have mental health issues 😂
The quality and depth of the questions on this podcast is amazing. Keep it up lads
Wow THANKYOU so much for posting this. This was one powerful interview. Thanks to Tyson for always being so open with his personal issues. Much love 💓
Brilliant interview.... Tyson Fury is an inspiration.... I was heading in the wrong direction but now after listening to him I'm determined to beat my demons
Vince O Shea
There are no such things as demons, only a lack of understanding of one's own mind. Creating demons is a clever trick of the mind in avoiding responsibility and blaming the problems on someone else.
This is the first time I've come across your channel and I'm so glad I did, seeing this conversation with Tyson was amazing...
I've been suffering for the last 25 years and am at my wits end with it all.
Dealing with life with drugs/alcohol and mental health issues for as long as I can remember, and then in 2010 I went to prison until 2019, came out clean and fit, then a short while after I lost my mom first and then my nan during covid, since then I've just locked myself away from everyone just getting worse!! Seeing this has made me finally realise that I need to seek help before it's me in that car heading for that bridge, it's all I've literally been thinking about and planning lately.
So I just want to say thanks to all of you because its time for a change...
It's definitely time for a change, buddy.
So sorry to hear of your struggle
There is light at end of tunnel
U will get there x
Top Class interview. My favorite Fury interview yet and he's done some bloody good ones previously. He's an inspiration..the interview had a natural flow. Three lads just having a proper honest chat
I've always admired you tyson as a fighter and a human ..this conversation and the way you have put forward your truth has blown me away. I know your wisdom will be music to many ears.. you're a living legend..bless you
Tyson is a true warrior and role model for everyone.
Probably down with the best PODCAST out there, I have battled Mental Health for a long time.Thank you, you are an inspiration and can say it definitely saved my life. Just signed up for my next fight... Tyson a true LEGEND
This was like a therapist session, brilliant insight into his highs and lows. Great honest content.
A rollercoaster of emotions interview! Action packed and jam packed full of highs and lows, wonderfully brilliant! Thank you High Performance for a memorable watch.
Tyson, you’ll always be a role model to many! Go One More👊
He is a liar he had a few nights on the sniff and had a panic attack with the cocaine blues.. all this is weak talk... Grow a pair and deal with life and stop playing the victim
Wow that is a different man to some of the crap I see spouted on social media etc.. much respect to Tyson for sharing. Brilliant interview
Great podcast lads 👏🏼👏🏼 I hope this helps all the people that suffering from mental health and anxiety and depression!
Thank you for speaking up and sharing this 🙌🏻
Nothing but admiration & respect for Tyson. Such an inspiration to so many of us.
This has helped me massively I have sufferd anxiety all my life and still do i can relate to alot of what Tyson has said watching this has helped massively thank you
Kyle Wilikinson
If we are suffering from a problem from the age of 17 to 70, it only highlights a lack of understanding of the problem and how our own minds work.
Wonderful insight into the history of Tysons struggles. Totally gripping interview and was one of the best iv seen. Iv seen most Tyson fury interviews as he’s a real hero of mine
Not a boxing fan but really enjoyed this podcast Tyson Fury so truthful an inspiration with a 19 granddaughter who has been diagnosed with bipolar listening to Tyson journey really helped understand the illness thank you for being so open
Love Tyson, absolute legend. Brilliant podcast well done to all involved 👏🏼
I needed this so much. Thank you guys and thank you to one of the Greatest Heavyweight of all Time. Thank you Tyson Fury for giving me the courage and strength to be better.
I have no idea how I stumbled upon this. But I am so glad I did because I know I'm not alone, and seeing such an amazing man speak on this is absolutely relatable and special. So thank you.. Gives me hope I can do more. Thank you
Thanks for opening up to us champ
you described exactly almost word for word how my first panic attack/anxiety attack went down ...extremely f**ckn scary ... I believe every word he's saying and I probably wouldn't have prior to learning about mental health... good on you Tyson your fighting a good fight my friend
I had a panic in my mid 20's. I was rushed to hospital with my heart rocking and was pretty sure I was having a heart attack and about to die. Scary as hell. Felt like my heart was rocking for weeks after it, was in a state of panic. Knowing what it feels like to think you are facing death gives you a different perspective on life. Hope you are well.
An incredible conversation on so many different levels. I have listened to this 3 times now and have picked up new aspects I had not heard in the previous listen. I have suffered for so long, most of my life, with anxiety and worry and Tyson's story just resonates so much. It is just incredible and inspiring how he has managed to achieve the heights of success in life that he has, whilst suffering so much in his mind. Truly inspirational stuff
Another fantastic episode, Tyson lays himself bare in this candid chat, Tyson seems to have a heart as big as himself, I genuinely wish Tyson a great life and hope he finally finds contentment…. Stay safe Champ 🤜🏼🤛🏼🇮🇪
That is 1 of the best interview's I've ever listened to so many people only have opinions on tyson fury the boxer but after watching that it is a real eye opener to the man away from boxing and the struggles and deamons he had to deal with and the way he dealt with them and the help he seeked a real great watch
Amazing episode, amazing content and inspiring too! Tyson is one of the only few that speaks the truth, it’s a rare gem!
Brilliant interview, just came across your chanel I love Tyson and what he has achieved. Well done guys
Thank you!
This is the most personally impactful video I've seen on CZcams this year, this is quite moving to understand what Tyson was going through, I will view him in a different way going forward
Thanks for this. Just back from a run (one of the best MH meds out there) and listening to this...What a listen. Inspiring. Relatable. Motivational.
Best boxer in the history of the sport!
Tyson is & always will be the people's champion 🏆
Long live the Gypsy King!
Nonsense - he'll only be the best of this era, let alone the best ever, when he stops ducking Usyk and then beats him.

Incredible role model. I could listen to Tyson all day. Love to just chat to this incredible human being
Thank you for this. Difficult to listen to the turmoil at times, but only because it feels familiar to my own experiences.
I've never really been a fan of the Gypsy King, but I am fast becoming a fan of Tyson Fury. Big love.
Subscribed! One of the best interviews I have ever watched, Well done lads!
Great interview! Tyson is a true inspiration. He's helped ppl all over the globe, who struggle with mental illness. Hearing Tyson describe what he experiences right after a fight though is heartbreaking - I wish him all the best. Tyson, you owe us fans nothing. ✌❤🙏
And recently just laughed at everyone with mental health issues how do you feel now?
I lost my baby daughter 5 years ago. Stillborn. It was the most devastating thing in my life. I have only just begun to live my life again , I totally get where the gypsy king is coming from here. Good luck in life Tyson keep going, keep winning.
Well done lads that was an incredible interview
I've never heard anyone explain what I've gone through in my life better than Tyson.
Damian was different class in this episode. He asked some really tough questions about some grey areas to someone who I imagine is extremely intimidating to interview and it was very interesting to hear Tyson’s reaction. Great pod 🙏
Tyson isn't intimidating to interview. You just have to chat with him like a mate.
True champion in every aspect! If your going through mental health or on the road to recovery you will be able to relate. Tyson Fury is a superhuman, grateful to have someone like Tyson to advocate mental health. Great podcast guys, thank you.
Tyson Fury is a drug cheat who only fought bums and has beens he never beat a good fighter in their prime
@@jaggafeen hahah are you for real? Get in the ring with Wilder and then let me know if he's a bum
true champions actually get in the ring now and then, rather than this bluffer dodging any serious challenge. Absolute con-man, you've fallen for it.
He faked it so people like you believed him
😂😂😂😂true champ 😂😂😂😂😂
I know nothing about boxing but sure as hell know that this was a heartfelt interview and I loved it. Nice words and advice towards the end Jake. Brilliant.
Thank you Mr. Fury for sharing your experience to the world!
I've ended up in hospital myself from panic attacks, which was awful each time. It's impossible to tell yourself you are being irrational. I had such attacks from a very young age. I think trauma was to blame, but later in life, when I found my biological parents (I'm adopted), I discovered anxiety and panic ran in the family. Still today, I have the odd attack. Kudos Mr. Fury, that meeting it head on.
I didn't have a panic attack until I was 37... Genuinely thought I was having a heart attack and called an ambulance. Then you feel so stupid afterwards... They are horrible. Hope you're coping ok 👍
Better to call a therapist than go to a hospital though.. wasting a hospital doctors time could potentially cause lost lives.
I also once called an ambulance during a very bad panic attack. I felt very stupid later, and like you, was made to feel stupid, although this was back in the early 90s. @@delanodegenie6970
I meant a mental hospital. I was considering killing myself, and believed they could help with that.@@jackrobinson5679
Great interview. Tyson is a great inspiration and I wish him and his family well. 🙏
When you know how hard only putting your shoes on and go out for a walk can be, it is almost impossible to understand what he have done. Tyson will maybe ever know how big inspiration he is for so many.
Amazing interview well done guys I wasn't a Tyson Fury fan because of some of the things he said but I thank him for being so honest in this interview he is an inspiration for people all over the world suffering from mental health issues.
Thank you Joseph
fantastic guys, enjoyed whilst painting :) thank you
He doesn't have obsessive compulsive disorder. People use that term way too often not realizing that people who actually have it have extreme difficulties in life and that it can be debilitating. Being hyper focused and driven to be great at something you love is not OCD
Respect for working out his psychological issues (his private and public personas), and being grounded straight after a big fight, emptying his house bins!
Love him or hate him, I have a soft spot for this giant largely because of the courage it took for him to get out of dark places in his mind. I'm crying listening to his explanation of not being able to differentiate between the Gypsy King and Tyson 😭😭😭❤❤❤ so much respect for this champ!
Absolutely brilliant interview 👏
This is probably the best thing I've ever seen on CZcams
Looking forward to watching
We Hope You Enjoy The Full Episode! 💪
You can see the emotions he is feeling from his face, body language and demina. He had to become the world's unbeatable physical champion before completing his true mission which is an unbeatable inspiring mental health champion ❤
Really? He’s literally just laughed at people like you in a recent video yet you still like him
Honestly one of the best interviews I've ever watched, the man is an absolute inspiration 🙌
Great work guys. Especially the part about Tyson finding external help to live a fulfilled life outside of boxing. Felt you could ve honest when it counted and there was respect
I'm so happy 😊 that you have got well and to a better place. God bless you 🙏. I also have suffered similar issues as tyson but my mental health issues were through sexual, physical abuse from a child and adult. I'm not a victim am a survivor. I still struggle but that's fine. I can cope much better. So whoever else is suffering reach out for help ASAP with professionals. God bless you all 🙏
Wow, this is me. Thanks for sharing champ x
Such a powerful interview. Thoughtful and genuine. Thankyou . Hope you find that peace Tyson
Mental health issues are so scary. Tyson had beautiful kids, a wife, a great family around him all the money in the world and he wanted to die. I'm so glad he turned it around in doing so saved so many peoples lives as they have taken inspiration from him
Untold story.... he tells it once a month...
Once a day
Absolutely fascinating podcast, especially when Tyson goes into detail about his mental health struggles, riveting stuff. But I didn't really like how near the end, the interviewers kept on trying to suggest in a roundabout way that it would be best for Tyson Fury to retire.
This is a fantastic interview ❤
This is good timing for fury family PR. You have to admire tyson for what he's done but I can't help but think Paris plays a gigantic role in keeping him together.
Superb interview. What an insight into a great man. Thanks guys for conducting such an amazing session, and thank you Tyson for being a proper guy - 100% respect - keep your head up, we're behind you.
I havent seen a story i can relate to since ive been watching youe tube in my life. absolut top dollar!
Don’t think you two get enough credit for you amazing interview skills, love hearing the in depth analogy of these high level men and women
Wow! Another belter podcast lads. Keep up the good work. Have a boss week 👍🏻
Thank you Dylan!
He's an extraordinary character. An incredibly courageous and outstanding boxer. The greatest showman since Ali as The Gypsy King. And yet a highly intelligent and sensitive character as Tyson Fury. It's little wonder that this has led to mental health problems. If he hadn't been given such a massive frame and boxing gifts, I could easily imagine him channelling his intelligence and sensitivity in a creative pursuit.
Yes I wonder how life would've turned out for him if he'd had more options than his culture offered
he's an extraordinary bell end
6 Title fight and a sissy attitude. He's nothing compared to ali
An excellent conversation. A big thanks to the three guys. Hat's off to Tyson Fury---one of the tallest heavyweight champs to-date; yet (IMHO) the closest to the ground when he so candidly speaks.
Best interview I’ve seen with Tyson loved it so honest he obviously trusts you. Good men!
Depression is one thing, dealing with the rush of being the big thing is far, far more. I had a brush with that stuff and it messed me right up for about 3 years when it ended - ended ip locked in a cabin seeing no-one for 2 years. In my experience, a large part of the problem is that your identity becomes framed by other people's view of you, so you become reliant on people affirming you and who you are, which is a one-way trip to hell.
I came out of that in a moment I'll never forget, it was the strangest thing, I was lain in bed and I had the distinct impression my "mind's eye" slid suddenly from about 6 inches above my head (the outside observer) back into my skull... And the moment it happened I thought "What am I doing? I could be riding my motorbike across the moor." Sounds daft but that thought simply would not have occurred to me one minute before because then anything good relied on something coming fron elsewhere, to suddenly realise I could make myself happy was a startling revelation at the time, though it sounds completely mad to say it.
But, yes, the madness that comes eith being in the spotlight (and losing that position) is very, very difficult to deal with and very rarely spoken about - it's why most old performers are so broken and spend all their days reliving their past. ...Fury has probably the biggest challenge of his life to overcome that - in comparison, relieving depression is childs play, that one can leave you a soulless shadow forever and very, very few people, if any, understand what you are up against because the vast majority never get anywhere near that experience.
The hardest thing for me is the loneliness not only in the isolating that I do to myself but also life in general , everything I do on a daily basis is a challenge to me like it is to nobody else on the planet because they are my issues , yes other people have similar diagnosis and similar symptoms but you can't ever know what's happening in someone else's head . I first saw a psychiatrist when I was 11 and I have had a psychiatric doctor for many years but all they ever want to do is pump me full of drugs which never really help instead of some long term therapy and counselling to help me work through it and get some kind of understanding , all I get is a 10 minute consultation every three months that's 40 minutes a YEAR , my family don't understand and to be honest I frustrate them mainly due to them not understanding my condition which is frustrating for me and round and round it goes , i have to resort to ringing the suicide lines just for someone to talk to who doest have an opinion of me normally after I have self harmed .
My cap is doffed to Tyson he has done amazing and I wish him all the best in his daily struggles and I'm glad he had people around him who were willing to listen and support him through the tough days because I'm sure it must be unbearable at times for our loved ones also .
Edit: I just want to say I really enjoyed the honesty and glimpse into the real person behind the persona , it's made him real which brings to life the struggles he has gone through and makes them more relatable to others , cheers big fella 👍
Amazing interview. Love Tyson Fury. Thanks for doing this guys👏🏻👏🏻
