Actually many of them don't "dissent against the magisterium".
      That's kind of a strawman.
There is actually a very serious problem right now between the magisterium in the past and the present magisterium that is probably going to take an ecumenical council to resolve.
This is a lot more subtle than those who don't like it are "schismatic and bad".
I'd encourage you to keep an open mind and not follow anyone too closely, but listen to what some of the so-called schismatics and dissenters have to say. Some of them make very good points, and many have nothing to do with the current problems in the magisterium.
Cannonized saints have grappled with limits to papal authority, meaning that you don't have to try to establish a mental gymnastics hermeneutic of trying to square every strange thing Francis does and says with tradition in order to live a holy life.
And I'm not telling you not to follow voice of reason and Lofton. They also have things of value to add. But understand everyone in every camp is likely to get some things wrong.

Please read this comment to its very end. - The issue is much much larger than just homosexuality. The ONLY BASIS OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH IS THE BIBLE. So nothing that contradicts the Bible can be part of the Christian faith. The Catholic Church has always hidden the biblical faith (the truth) from the people. It has hidden the true Jesus and the true way of salvation. Dear Catholics, do not be deceived any more: The Catholic Church teaches salvation by works, i.e. redemption through one's own good works, baptism, affiliation with the Catholic Church, sacraments etc. and NOT BY JESUS ALONE. That is, it gives you the idea that if you don’t kill anybody, maybe go to church, do a few good works here and there and are more or less a nice person, you will go to heaven. The Bible says that all are sinners and on their way to an eternal hell in their natural state, and that salvation is NEVER by one’s own works or goodness. Salvation is by repentance (turning away from sin) and faith in Jesus alone. „In him [Jesus] we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins.“ Forgiveness of sins is based on Jesus‘ blood ALONE and it comes to you the moment you turn away from living for yourself and start living for Jesus (this is called „repentance“). The Catholic Church does not preach true repentance for the forgiveness of sins by putting Jesus first in all areas of life, but by doing works of penance for your sins. This is blasphemous because it means that you have to work off your guilt (which the Bible says you can’t) and denies that Jesus‘ sacrifice for sin was sufficient for all sins and for all times. Look at what the Bibles says: Hebrews 10:12-18 „But when this priest [Jesus] had offered FOR ALL TIME ONE SACRIFICE for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God … For by one sacrifice he [Jesus] has made perfect for ever those who are being made holy... And where these [the sins of mankind] have been forgiven, SACRIFICE FOR SIN IS NO LONGER NECESSARY.” Hebrews 7:27 „... He [Jesus] sacrificed for their sins ONCE FOR ALL when he offered himself.”
Biblical repentance in contrast to Catholic “repentance” consists in turning away from (not just confessing) your sin and living for a risen Christ who is active in your life by the power of the Holy Spirit (not a dead Christ whom you receive only in the form of a wafer). The purpose of Jesus' death is that you live for HIM - for the true Jesus of the Bible, not for Mary nor for the imaginary and non-existing Jesus of the Catholic Church. See 2 Corinthians 5:15 - “He [Jesus] died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” Jesus says: "He who keeps my commandments, he it is who loves me." (John 14:21). His commandments are found in the Bible - and ONLY in the Bible. And yet the Catholic Church does not give its faithful the Bible, but an "adapted" interpretation of some selected Bible verses that mislead the people. I used to be Catholic, so I know what I am talking about. In the Bible, there is no salvation by works and/or sacraments, no pope, no infant baptism, no worship of Mary, no rosary, no imposed celibacy, no purgatory, no confessionals, no saints in the Catholic sense, no prayer for the dead, no transfiguration of the consecrated wafer in the Eucharist, no repetitive prayer, no bowing to graven images - it is even forbidden by God in the Ten Commandments - see Exodus 20:4-5: „You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God“. In the Bible, there is no Catholic liturgy, no holy garments or gestures (in the New Testament Church). Mary is not a mediator between God and man, because the Bible says: "There is ONE mediator between God and man: the man Jesus Christ" (1 Timothy 2:5). All these things are inventions of the Catholic Church and clearly contradict the Word of God. The Catholic Church is NOT a Christian church, but conveys to the people a pagan concept of God, as if God could be manipulated by the same rituals over and over again (and as if He did not solely look at the heart - see 1 Samuel 16:7). The Catholic Church was not the first church. It was formed 300 years after Jesus’ resurrection. The pedophile and financial scandals caused by Catholic priests are just the tip of the iceberg. It is all far worse. I repeat: The Catholic Church is NOT A CHRISTIAN CHURCH. It is a pagan religion using Christian words and biblical references to cheat people out of their salvation. Mary was a sinner, because she calls God her „Savior“ (Luke 1:47). She did not ascend into heaven. She cannot hear and answer prayer, because she is dead. Apparitions of Mary are demonic deceptions. They have an appearance of goodness and holiness and some things this fake “Mary” says are true (you have to give people a bait they can believe so that they will swallow all the other wrong theology (lies) that comes with the false prophecy). READ THE BIBLE and you will find out. Start with the New Testament. Run from the Catholic Church, if you want to really please God and find salvation. Only Jesus Himself saves. Go find a truly Bible-believing Christian who can tell you more. Your eternal destiny is at stake.

Gidday. I have been a Christian for 41 years. I was baptised at 10 after my atheist Dad passed away and my Mum and older sister became Christians. I also went to a Catholic high school.
After searching for decades for a home Church, I was finally confirmed as an Anglican in my late 30’s.
Our liturgies follow the same pattern as mass. The entire service is focussed on the Eucharist.
I was also a member of the choir. During the Eucharist, I would join them and sing a hymn while the Christians lined up for the bread and wine. We took the Eucharist first. The focus was never upon us because everyone was ready to receive.
We never sang during the Eucharist ceremony. All attention was on the altar.
However, the beginning and end of the service had everyone bursting out into loud praise and singing.
If you want to raise your hands or clap, do it. Sing with all your heart. God deserves our worship and praise.
That said, the Eucharist is always a quiet and solemn centre of the service.
My memories of the Catholic services is that they really need to include good hymns and worship songs because their music really didn’t bring the glory that it should have. However, don’t play the music during the Eucharist. Play it before and after and get everyone singing praise.
Another thing I love about liturgical church is the scripture readings. Unlike modern churches, they don’t tell you how to interpret the scriptures. They just read the bible and allow you to meditate upon it. Sure, the priest may give a sermon based on scripture, but they are not using it to prove their point. And yes, I also read the scriptures during services.
In older churches, you can sit, stand or kneel. Modern churches don’t get that.

Sorry, you do not have a consecrated Eucharist. It is just ordinary bread and wine. Only in the Catholic Church is the Real Presence: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. Remember, Jesus said this: John 6:53-56 vs 53 *"no life in you",* vs 55 * "no eternal salvation for you",* vs 56 *"Jesus does not abide (reside) in you".* Jesus's words! Only in the Catholic Church with an ordained Priest/Bishop. No other denominations.

Dear@@protestant77, I didn't ask if you "keep the feast days." I was pointing out that the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles is to move the Sabbath Day to the first day of the week.
You don't think the first Christians thought that up on their own? They were followers of Jesus. He was the Author of the change, as He is the Messiah, King of Kings and Lord of Lords! The Apostle John mentions "the Lord's Day" as the first day of the week in "Revelation." Because the Messiah is Lord of the Sabbath.
In rejecting the Church Jesus loved and died for (see Ephesians 5:25), you also miss out on His continuing Presence in the world. And that is the real sad thing about keeping on protesting against the Church.

The Mass is about worshipping God. Reverently might I add. Not to ‘enjoy the show’.
I was in a church in westchester County NY of the same name as your parish and was disgusted by one of their Sunday Mass services. Granted it was a special occasion. But it was special to one of the clergy. And the whole Mass seemed to honor him and not the Lord. People clapped at the performance which would be appropriate if it were in any other setting. They really did do a good job. But IMHO they should have had the Mass be the Mass and invite parishioners elsewhere for a musical show.

The question on the saints in heaven hearing us. We have a direct line to the God the Father in and directly through Jesus Christ, why on earth is there any need to go through any other intermediary? Having your brethren here on earth lift up their voices in union with yours to the Father is one thing. But this action of expecting that the saints in heaven have a more direct access to the Eternal Holy Creator God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) demeans what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for each us by being the Saviour and giving us personal direct access to the Father for our petitions, our worship and praise and our direct communion with the Perfect Magnificent Hoyl God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

      Rev 5 :8-12
      ➨ INTERCESSION of the SAINTS: REV 5 v 8... 8...
When he took it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each of the elders held a harp and gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of the holy ones.
      9
They sang a new hymn: "Worthy are you to receive the scroll and to break open its seals, for you were slain and with your blood you purchased for God those from every tribe and tongue, people and nation.
Only an Omniscient God can understand all the languages of all nations Nations..John Is a creature and Cant. Only an Omniscient God. 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, everything in the universe, cry out: "To the one who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever."Now John HERD ALL THIS all those languages of the earth. How did He hear all those Languages and understand them . God Had to have made it possible for John why couldn’t he do that for those in Heaven as well.. So why cant Mary and the saints hear since they have an Omniscient God to Make things Know to them the saints don’t have to Be Omniscient. God gave them that ability.
What are , the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders doing with . Those Prayers in their hands the prayers of the holy ones. Why did God give those Prays to them to Give them to Him 9When he broke open the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar 8 the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the witness they bore to the word of God.10 cried out in a loud voice, "How long will it be, holy and true master, 9 before you sit in judgment and avenge our blood on the inhabitants of the earth?"11Each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to be patient a little while longer until the number was filled of their fellow servants and brothers who were going to be killed as they had been.
This Makes It Know to those Saints In Heaven That God would avenge the saints On earth at a Further tine The lord can Make know to those in heaven what happens on earth at a future time They are Now aware of thing going on Now do you think since they pray to the Lord they would not be praying to the Lord for their Brothers and Sisters of their fellow servants and brothers who were going to be killed as they had been to preserve them as the others had been . What act of Love are Christians told to do for one another Pray for one another
Rev18: 19-24 What’s the reaction to those in heaven… To the destruction Of Babylon On earth if they aren’t made aware of what’s happening on earth. God made them aware giving Biblical proof that The Saints can be made aware of what’s taking place on Earth. They must have seen it Because allowed them to see it.
Mathew 18:6-7 Do not harm little children because God loves them as well as Babes in the Faith Physically or spiritually.
. 6But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
      Why does he say this
“Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.
What does that mean the Angles are assigned to these children to watch over them and pray for them. They go before the father and Intercede for them .
How do Angles know what is taking place on earth Angles are not Omniscient God thru the Holy Sprit reveals it to them they don’t have to be Omniscient.
      Luke 15:7
I tell you, in just the same way there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need of repentance.
How can People in heaven rejoice over someone coming to repentance? If they’re not aware of their repentance. Now since Mary and the Saints are In heaven are they aware of their repentance and rejoice. Those in Heaven must be aware of what’s happening on Earth.
      Luke 15:10
In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Those in Heaven must be aware of what’s happening on Earth
      i
      8
      2
      14
The four living creatures answered, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.
      10
You made them a kingdom and priests for our God, and they will reign on earth."
      11
I looked again and heard the voices of many angels who surrounded the throne and the living creatures and the elders. They were countless 5 in number,
      12
and they cried out in a loud voice: "Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power and riches, wisdom and strength, honor and glory and blessing."

Baptism is a sacrament, God sharing His life with you. It is within you forever. The Protestants went through a ceremony, but it wasn't Baptism. Make an appointment and talk with the priest. It will be very simple for him to answer all your questions. He will be happy to welcome you back.

Second baptism was a sacrilege, a sin. You need confession before receiving communion. Be sure you hear the words from the Priest "that He absolved you of your sins by the power given to him by Our Lord Jesus Christ."
MOST PRIESTS DO NOT FORGIVE YOU OF YOUR SINS ANYMORE. BE VIGILANT!!!!!

You are right about the requirement for confession at least once a year. Perhaps something happened as you said. God knows the person and will judge accordingly. We will leave it to Him.
