You should just be able to turn off the monitoring (specifically) in your DAW, that way the zero latency and DAW playback will both have sound.
(I see your reasoning for this, but what about the engineer or producer listening through monitors in the other room? Is this messing with what they're hearing? I want to hear what the DAW or Tape is playing back at all times in the console room.)
I think he is thinking about situations where there are headphone mixes and so on. On the mains low latency monitoring for sure fixes this, but I believe the low latency monitoring in pro tools doesn't work the same when routing out to things like headphone mixes and so on unless you have an Avid interface.
Studio one user here i didnt know that it wasnt a button to cut off software monitoring in PT. Glad that you found a workaround!
There is one but it has its quirks, this is the most straight up way.
I usually just turn off input monitoring in my daw. But this is a really cool plugin. Might mess with it.

I have not found this problem yet in Ableton.

In logic you just turn off software monitoring. If you record enable a track you onlh hear ir through console then you play the recorded track and you here it
Pro Tools has this too but it doesn’t work on sends so I kinda forgot about it
@@AdamSliger Go into the Pro Tools grid and setup where you want your sends to be monitored by.

If you are not tracking an entire orchestra, is there any real benefits to using pro tools over ableton 12? What is the best feature that 12 is missing in your opinion compare to protools?
I haven’t used Ableton since about 2018 but it didn’t have playlists, so it was pretty much immediately out because of that

If it has comping I’m sure it’s the same! I do like Ableton for certain stuff, back when I did more gigging I used it for backing tracks and programming lights!

OMG! The talkback mic muting has been a pain in the butt for years! All those years of blasting drums when forgetting to mute the talkback and I could have just solved that with a simple plugin 😂 Thanks for this video, gonna make life a little easier!

My fix would be to just duplicate your track, make 1 muted and 1 unmuted. Record to the muted track then drag finished takes to the unmuted for playback...I use this workflow, even without the 0 latency monitoring, just because it gives me a free track to edit the clients previous punch-ins while they're recording the next take. Keeps sessions running quick and smooth
I just use playlists for that!!

In Cubase not that problem. Theres Virtua Tape record enable. When it records it mute. When you start the daw it play... Protools are just for experts

What?!?! Isn't there a way to turn off "software monitoring" in PT?!?! I use Logic and by turning "software monitoring" off you never hear the latency-signal thru Logic - only the audio from Console. No mute/unmute or anything needed!
What if you hit play on audio you recorded already with record-enable still on? would it keep playing the console audio or switch to the recorded audio?
