  • Mrs Busola Adebajo, a commercial bus driver in Lagos, has opened up on the challenges that made her start the business.
    The ND holder said that she tried getting a job after schooling but nothing came out of it as employers she met with wanted to get into her pant. She started the commercial business with a tricycle before she moved on to a bus.
    In a bid to make the work smooth, she employed her younger sister, who is also married, to be her conductor. The two women work on a daily basis but close early to cater to the needs of their families.
    In this interview with Legit tv, you will find out how they are able to survive in a trade dominated by men and how they deal with harassment while at it.

    I appreciate these ladies. But I advice them to always drop off their money as they work, so that they won't get robbed.
    I am a female Civil Engineer working in what I may call a male profession. I've worked with indigenous companies handling projects as Project Engineer. In fact, people comes to see me and dash me money b/cos I was still very young then. When I was handling Onitsha North Stadium, the indigenes normally come to get a glimpse. I later went for Masters in UK, and was lucky to work as Site/Setting Out Engineer at London 2012 Olympic Stadium.
    So sis, just keep it up and do your work, as far as you have job satisfaction.

    This interviewer you're very funny. Someone is responding to you in correct English but you keep asking her questions in pidgin like she is an illiterate, even after she told you she went to Yaba Tech. You're such a goofball. Bring out the moral of the story more by showing how educated she is and being a woman but still decides to earn an honest living. Duh!

    • @afrika_confidential
      @afrika_confidential Před 2 lety +5

      Lol Calm down. Imagine the awkwardness of two people conducting an interview in "correct English" just to prove a point in that kind of environment where we all know what the popular parlance is.. It won't make any sense whatsoever, for even the viewers...who pay attention to little details.
      That said however, I think Nigerians need a total re-orientation of the mind, to help them understand that English (a FOREIGN LANGUAGE to us) is NOT, and should NEVER be a measure of our level of intelligence or "education." No other people on earth (besides Afrikans) use their ability to speak in a foreign language as a measure of their level of education or intelligence, so we need to cut it out. Are you saying we need to speak in someone else's language (English) to show we're educated now? That's an inferior way of thinking.
      And what if the ladies just feel more comfortable speaking in English for this interview and have no problems with the pidgin English spoken to them? The irony is that, if you go to school and learn English, it's actually harder to engage in a lengthy and serious conversation with pidgin English. If you disagree with that, you imagine yourself right now doing an interview in pidgin.
      Yes, you may be right about your observation of the interviewer's thought process, but it changes nothing about her guests. So let's not focus our attention on insignificant things and miss the whole point of the interview.
