- Professor Seyed Mohammad Marandi from the University of Tehran has said last night's attack was a "major humiliation for the Israeli regime".
He was also critical of Britain, France and the United States for failing to condemn Israel's recent strike on Iran's Embassy in Damascus.

I think people are missing the point. It cost Israel 1.3 billion dollars to ward off an attack WITH the help of it's allies. It cost Iran 1/10 to launch 300 drones, which were just a decoy. The target were the military bases with its ballistic missiles. The target were not Israeli citizens. If they wanted to hurt Israel, they wouldn't have announced their attack 5 hours in advance. The attack was just to show, that they had the capability to enter Israeli airspace and attack it's most secure areas, ie. Israel's military base. This was not a provocation of war. Rather, a message of warning to not escalate and Iran will not tolerate anymore targeted killings. US got the message too, hence they said not to retaliate.
Iran is dirt poor. Israel is rich. If a poor person spends $1,000, they are broke. A rich person can spend $1 million and it's pocket change.

All this talk about 99% success by the Iron Dome and the allies is missing a few important points.
The strategy that Iran used is one that is used elsewhere too. E.g. by Russia. The idea is to send in a swarm of cheap drones and missiles to distract the air defenses so that more powerful missiles can come in a bit later to hit their targets. Those drone sent by Iran were slow moving fodder. They were expected to be shot down. Go do some research about this. Russia uses the same drones in swarms against Ukraine and they mostly get shot down too. Hezbollah constantly send in cheap missiles first to overwhelm the Iron Dome and then sends in the big ones.
The drones are a fraction of the price of the anti-air missile used by the US. Some reports say the drones cost $20K each while a US patriot missile costs $1 million. The US is actually low on munitions because of Ukraine and how much the companies charge them to produce.
Good analysis. People are propping up Israël response, but it's funny how She US, the UK and Jordan all had to get involved to minimize damage. The war in Ukraine has shown that no air defense can completely shut down attacks has Russia is being hit by drones despise a very advanced air defense system. And Iran is already under sanctions. They could very well bomb the whole Middle East just to hurt the US. The West is calling for a de escalation cause this could spiral down really fast. But it seems Israel believe they're untouchable

So it's an eagle that's been attacking all those girls in Iran.
The fact that the vast majority of attacks were diffused (thankfully) is not the point. The operation last night was meant to sap the defenses until some missiles went through, which they did to a limited extent. A successive wave of attacks would then be more distructive, and so on. This is the same strategy used by the Russians by employing vast numbers of slower/cheaper drones to sap up air defenses before or while striking with faster missiles. It is a clear message that Iran has enough capabilities to strike from its territory (directly, not through proxies).

This "professor's" interpretation of what happened seems to be at odds with reality. It either showed that Iran cannot touch Israel (weakness) and surrounding states will help Israel, or it takes 200-300 projectiles to inflict small amouny of damage. And, Israel hasn't showed us their cards yet. That is the worrying part of all this.

The fact that the US told Iran not to do it, but Iran did anyway, then the US stating they would not help Israel with any counter retaliatory strikes on Iran is a massive blow to Israel. Up to now Israel had always known the US would back them 100%, last night changed that, forever.
