@@olgaklatschenko4457 pretty much before Sweden won 2 times in the last 10 years with an english song, creating the naive illusion for most other countries that an english song is required if they hope to win. Which is bullshit or otherwise Portugal wouldn't have won recently. The Eurovision Song Contest was much more diverse in terms of languages between 2000 and 2010 and the decades before 2000. I think it's time for the ESC committee to implement a new rule where every song must be sung in the national language. That would seriously make for a much more interesting cultural show.

I just can't accept that more than 40 "thinking heads" are not allowed to find a solution to celebrate Eurovision this year. ESC was born as a Light in the darkness after II WW to unite people AT HOME - the most necessary thing to do - through TV. Eurovision represents togetherness, international cooperation and hope: Soul's heal. To defeat the current situation we need to be well in body and soul, and Eurovision helps to everyone in the last part. Canceling Eurovision is the WRONG decision, is the opposite to help of this situation.
Really, how can't be possible to wait a few months, to broadcast performances from any TV studio (Most of them make National Final, someones longer than ESC itself), performing with no public.
Honestly, I think we are still time to have Eurovision this year, that is the RIGHT things. We need light turned up in this dark times, not turned off.
We should to ask any national broadcasting to consider that decision and Giving to them ideas.
We need unity, cooperation and Hope, and Eurovision represents all that and more.

Well, I can see your frustration, but even if all broadcasters are sending their song direct from their country it will still gather crowds of people watching it together in bars and other places. And that was the whole point in canceling it this year because of spread of COVID-19... People would NOT sit alone in their houses watching this celebration, they want to gather and party together on the Saturday night,

Actually the german ARD and Stephan Raab did make ideas and gave them to the EBU. But they turned it down. Therefore ProSieben made a tiny version of their own ESC and ARD will show this thing the EBU is doing on may 16. I think there could have been an agreement to pull this off in a different way this year. So you‘re absolutely right.
