    About the suspension, I only heard good comments about the stock version. Obviously an after-market will improve it, but the stock is not bad at all. I take it off-road worse than in your video and stock is completely fine. About keeping a powerbomb over a megabomb, finally someone that sees sense. There is no advantage with the megabomb at all. You also forgot to mention that you took off that ugly ass plastic licenseplate holder in the back and replaced it with a much shorter version. That also saves a bit on weight.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  Před 5 lety +1

      @Vara - Thanks for the comment. Wow! You must be a lightweight. Are you carrying any luggage on the bike? I could see how a lightweight person that isn't carrying luggage could get by on the stock suspension. For the terrain that we ride and luggage that I carry the stock suspension is a huge struggle (especially the shock). It just doesn't have the valving to control the shock and keep it from blowing through the stroke. And yes, the DRC LED Tail Light is a huge weight savings over the stock setup. Cheers! - Wes

    • @Vara91391
      @Vara91391 Před 5 lety +1

      @@rmatvmc Yeah sorry about that. I only carry a tank bag mostly and a backpack (with a Drone tho). Yeah for longer rides, where much more weight is needed it can for sure help. I thought you guys reviewed it based on not heavy weight extreme riding but you did mention it briefly. I would add maybe on text description about the DRC LED Tail Light saving some weight too ;) As a Euro, I am so jealous of American license plates. My God, so beautiful. We have just black numbers on white and the plate has the same length but like twice the width.

    I commuted for a week on a CRF250L. Missed the screen. Does the stock screen on this do much or do you have to upgrade that for road use too? (This seems to have a fractionally bigger tank too than the L - which feels tiny although I'm told you can get 150 miles out of it)..

    I had the Rally for a year and sold her because she is underpowered. The suspension in the back you can tighten to make her more hard. Mine was very very VERY soft and i tighten the screews by about 1cm first and then 1,5cm what changed it a lot. Try it first before spending a couple of hundred US for a new shock.
    Exhaust and weightsaving? ROFLMAO ... really? hey dudes, you safe just 3kg for spending another 500.-US for this exhaust... try to skip every third beer instead and loosing a couple of kg by yourself, safes you money and makes you and your ride feel much better.
    :
    Best thing i just really thinking of buying the Rally again. I am riding a CRF250L for every day commuting and i am LOVING this LRP but she has much more torque and power as my Rally had.
    IF someone here can enlighten me how to gain more POWER on another 250 RALLY i would buy him a couple of beers..... I am currently thinking to go for the 2019 CB500X rode her for a day at a Honda testfacility... great bike, enough power and not too heave... But i am still loving the Rally for all the kilogramms she is lighter.
    Will a 300cc big bore kit change the power much?

    • @86Hilux22R

      I think you are expecting too much out of the little 250. Get a bigger bike if the power bothers you. I ride both a 250 rally and an africa twin. And the low power of the 250 doesnt bother me, because it's exactly that. A 250. And the difference is, I know if I have a small mechanical problem with the 250 it will be cheap and easy to fix. The africa twin and similar bikes are a different story

The AfricaTwin JUMBO is more something for old guys with money want to have an adventure feeling but NEVER riding her really offgrid or in the mountains... once riding a 40Degrees mountain, you will know what i am talking about and the difference between a 130kg or a 280kg bike ;)

    I see you had 5L red fuel cell on rear rack. I did the same on my 250 Rally for the recent Snowy Adventure Ride as there was a section of at least 300KM between fuel stops and wasn't sure if my off-road high-revving would require more fuel than the 10.1L tank had. Turns out the 5L additional fuel cell was not needed, so I'll remove it from my rack to free up more space so I can move my duffle bag back off rear of the seat. Saves 5KG of unnecessary weight as well. drive.google.com/open?id=1FeohrABr0OJp7gbbqagI3XWAlG5gFBRn
