  • Here's a high speed pass compared to a low speed pass IRL. The slow one travels about 200 km/h and the fast one at about 1100 km/h. Difference of about 900 kilometers per hour! HUGE!
Please subscribe if you enjoy! I will fill this channel with goodies with good sound.
    Shot with:
    Canon Legria HF G50 @ 1080p 50 fps - scaled down to 720p 25 fps
Sound recorded with Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro

I lived close-ish to the airport a couple of years. You get used to hearing them in the distance really fast. But then once I was at the airport just as they took off. The sound really reverberates in your body when you're that close.

I used to live really close by for many many years. Got pretty used to seeing and hearing them. :) Way more fun than the commercial airline corridor I live under now, on a different continent.

Saabs are known for their Low speed flight capabilities . A Brisk headwind would nearly let a Viggen Vertical Land . Not sure about Grippen yet . How slow it can go with No Stalling . Short field capability is IMPORTANT to the Swedes .
A REAL high speed pass should always include a Sonic Boom . LOL .
The Fast plane was going about one third it's REAL ability . Awesome little birds , all the Saabs .

A very capable machine , would look great with a red maple leaf on it, f35 is out of the question, too expensive to fly and maintain, Boeing has done no favours in the past, Saab has offered Canada transfer of its technology, something we haven’t had since the arrow

The gripen is awesome. Thing is it lacks the hardware an f35 has. To unlock the gripens full potential you need the swedish global eye and teams of gripens to get the same effect and fire power potential the f35 has

@@TheLittleMaestro2911 60 million USD and a flight hour and maintenance cost of 6-9000USD per hour compared to the F-35 with severe problems, and a cost per flight hour of 36 000 USD on average. Also the F-35 ,and several other planes, have a very long turnaround and ground maintenance time. Meaning an F-35 that goes up may have to stay down for over an hour before it can go up again. The gripen can land on a stretch of road, and be re-armed,refuele an back in the air in 10-15 minutes( if you dont believe it, you can google it and see for yourself ) with a crew of only 2 conscripts and 1 flight mechanic. For extended use an engine change adds 40-60 minutes to the turnaround time. For some other planes, it means 24 hours or more.
The Gripen E is also one of the most capable Electronic warfare fighters out there, just like the older C/D model was , and highly secretive, pilots are not allowed to fully use it in international training and events like red flag. The only known event that i am aware of was when german typhoon pilots made fun of the gripen C (the old model, inferior by far to the gripen E yet highly capable) and the pilots turned on the full Electronic Warfare suite and were able to sneak up on the typhoons to within pilot to pilot viewing distance without showing up on the typhoons radar. This event is also something you can google for confirmation.
Is it the best plane in the world for every role in every situation? No. But is it a platform that is very cheap to operate and easy and cheap to maintain, allowing smaller nations to achieve equal flight hours in a top tier fighter ,rather than a mostly grounded more expensive and much smaller fighter fleet that has less availability and pilots with inferior flight hours? Yes, it is a great platform and more than good enough that any other platform is at risk of being taken out if they are not at the top of their game, and even then, the Gripen is still a lethal threat, never to be underestimated.
At Red Flag in the US , the only plane that was able to have an okay record against the Gripen C was the F-22 which had a 2:1 Kill ratio. Thats a 150 million USD + 5th stealth plane.
The F-35 and Gripen E will likely meet as Norway recieves its total order of F-35's and Sweden, its Total order of Gripen E/F as the nations train together frequently, and we will know the relative strength and weaknesses of both planes. But one is both more expensive to buy, and extremely expensive to operate, and will havve to spend a considerably larger ammount of time on the ground, where the Gripen can be sent right back up,re-armed,re-fueled and checked for maintenance multiple times for every F-35 that is finally ready again.
To me, the F-35 seems to be finding a primary role as a SEAD multi-role subsonic fighter. (Supression of enemy air defenses) Being somewhat slow ,but hard to detect by enemy ground radar and anti air missile systems. But not ,perhaps, the Air Superiority fighter that it was initially touted as, though ,like the Gripen, it will certainly be extremely lethal and capable in that role aswell.

@@TheLittleMaestro2911 This is a recent flight demo by one of our best fighter pilots in the older Gripen (C version) czcams.com/video/iBNKTpuWK2U/video.html
If you enjoy aviation this will be a treat.
This next video is a test flight of the Gripen E with an inside cockpick pilot POV and a ground tracking camera, specifically to demonstrate the hard G forces and push the airframe. I believe it is flown by a Brazilian pilot, and know for a fact it is flown at low altitude over sweden. This is perhaps even more exciting,if you are a fan of aviation as it feels like you are in the cockpit.
