Cross Country in a Gasser 1955 Chevy with a Hemi! - Roadkill Ep. 30
Vložit
- čas přidán 10. 07. 2014
- On this episode of Roadkill, it's 2,600 miles, 530 cubic inches, 700 horsepower, six speeds, 17 mpg, and two fun visits with some friends from TV. Last time, on Roadkill Episode 29, we finished our Chrysler-Hemi-powered 1955 Chevrolet gasser in about two weeks of thrashing (it's the same car you saw us take, as a bare shell, to Jim Meyer Racing in Oregon in Episode 8). On this latest episode, we drive it around the block once, then hit the road on a 2,600-mile journey from Los Angeles to the kickoff party of the 2014 HOT ROD Power Tour in Concord, North Carolina. On the way, there's the breakdowns you expect from Roadkill, plus two surprises: a stop at Midwest Street Cars with Justin "Big Chief" Shearer and Shawn "Murder Nova" Ellington from Street Outlaws, and another with Rutledge Wood from Top Gear USA.
The '55 Chevy is based on an original body with new quarters and floors and a fiberglass decklid and tilt front end, and Lexan windows from ProGlass. It's not in primer: the car was wrapped in satin black by Moody from High-Tech Auto Wraps. The car sits on a complete gasser chassis from Jim Meyer Racing with a solid front axle on leaf springs and a ladder-bar setup with Vicking coilovers on the rear. The rear tires are reproduction Firestone piecrust slicks from Coker tire, and the fronts are just like stock VW Bug tires.
The engine is a 530ci Hemi based on a Mopar Performance crate engine. With a Comp solid roller cam, 10.5:1 compression, homemade 2-1/4-inch headers from a Hedman kit, and Hilborn stack injection powered by a FAST XFI controller and Aeromotive fuel system, it makes 700 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque. We were stunned to see 17 mpg a few times on the cross-country trip, especially with absurd 5.43 gears in the Ford 9-inch rear axle. The key to it all is the Tremec T56 Magnum six-speed manual double-overdrive trans installed with a conversion kit from American Powertrain. The car uses a Speedwires harness, charging and starting by Powermaster, and a Braille lightweight battery in the trunk.

Finnegan:"So the cops really don't hassle you around here? That's amazing"
Proceeds to floor it.
Such a classic video, Roadkill actually taught me half of the wrenching knowledge I carry with me today
Thatd kinda scary mate hahahahahah
I was there that day. These guys are what hot rodding is all about.
The beginning of my favorite Roadkill car
Bruh this has being up for 7 years
@@exploringwithwolfs7891 and private for the last 2
@@_lucas_1k_ true dat
Straight front axle with raised front end was typical for the 60s gassers. I believe that traction was a problem back then.
Rutledge is right you guys are THE REAL DEAL!
Ray Charles welding with his feet is hilarious. I remember the first time I heard it.
Watched this video when it was new, still entertaining over 6 years later
Thanks for sharing such a great road trip. It allows someone like me to live a passionate lifestyle vicariously by watching a video from the confines of my bedroom and the imprisonment of my mind. God bless. Looking forward to seeing more car stuff videos. Nothing but appreciation and gratefulness from my heart.
you good bruh
Without a doubt, the most realistic and entertaining show out there! You guys are by far simply the Best, love you guys
yea, cuz they didn't flip the ignition system off when they took off "Out of Gas" at 4:35
Got a 55 Chevy myself and its an 8 yr project that still going on dur to divorce and economy but I do what I can to keep my dream alive. Thanks for doing a 55 gasser it keeps me motivated!
God I miss American Top Gear with Rut, Tanner, and Adam. They definitely got shafted. I watched that show with my dad every Tuesday after school. We didn’t even get a proper goodbye, just a few Facebook posts about them being canceled.
Idiots really hated on that show (and still do) for no good reason, they either thought it robbed them of more top gear uk episodes (which it didnt), or they was expecting the same kind of constant comedy act as top gear UK and they acted like brats about it, its really annoying, just shows how brainless the average online "car guy" is.
same😢 i loved that show and still rewatch it a lot
i never got into american top gear idk why but regular top gear is amazing
I helped a buddy getting out of the military drive his car back from Washington to Texas. Coming over the pass from California into Las Vegas we were on fumes. We weren't afraid of the heat. It was December and was 26 degrees at 10 PM and only I had a single sleeping bag and we didn't want to have to share it in a 2009 two door Honda accord.
Was interested in this story until I got to the part where it happened in a 2009 Honda Accord, a car which I have no problem with, but it’s not Roadkill.
Also, you knew you were on fumes, which tells me the gas gauge was working. And you weren’t afraid of the heat because it was December and the cooling system probably worked, as well as the heat. Because it was a 2009
Honda Accord.
Come back and tell a story when you buy a 50-70 year old piece of absolute garbage sight unseen online that has been sitting in a storage shed for years and are forced to drive it home in the middle of the night with nothing working other than fuel, air, and spark.
It's regrettable that Roadkill had to become a paid subscription. I understand it, but it still sucks as a fan. I think if they had stayed on CZcams for free, they would continue to be one of the most popular channels. Perhaps even with large amounts of views the revenue generated through CZcams wouldn't be sustainable for folks over at Motortrend. I do wonder if Roadkill has been able to maintain the high level of viewership in their own platform. And I also wonder if the projects have become more grandiose with what I assume is a greater budget.
Love going back and watching the early days of Blasphemi
Some of the stuff big chief says…I genuinely get 2nd hand embarrassment for him
Gets better gas mileage than the 460 in my F250….
Awesome episode and awesome show!
This is the Best episode of Road Kill!
gallup nm i remember from my cross country c6 vette trip done it like 4 times in two different cars corvette c6 33.2 mpg. vegas to charlotte basically but 70 miles east of it where i grew up. did it again with a wrx 28.6 mpg take the corvette all day over anything else ive driven. do miss my 1970 split bumper camaro though lt-1 too needed a tko 5 speed for highway with the rear gearing
Great episode ❤❤❤
LUV U GUYS-SO KNOWLEDGABLE
Awesome 55.
"The cops really don't bother you around here?" "Nahhh..." Proceeds to immediately floor it. lol. I love it.
+Jacob Hickman The exhaust note though!!
+mick22kona I live in Oklahoma spent a lot of time in okc and tulsa and a lot of other states oklahoma is the worst about getting pulled over

Jacob Hickman fg
Jacob Hickman is
I hope Roadkill never turns into a scripted drama series
Tailz99! Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Theyre to smart, no one would watch it if that happened
Sadly now no one can watch it behind the motortrend paywall...
Panchovilla 7769 the paywall is there because they simply can’t get any revenue from CZcams.
They had a choice between putting it on their own site or shutting down and they chose the former.
Yeah now they sold out to discovery and dodge.
"Borrowing a mans tools is like borrowing somebody's woman, its kinda a big deal" -Road kill
I'll just hang 'er up in the garage when I'm done.
All these people hating on Top Gear US... It's a good show, get over yourselves. First season was trial and error like any show, but as it's progressed it's gotten alot better, the presenters have gotten comfortable with one another and have good chemistry as a result. Anyone still hating on the show is simply a hermit who can't accept change in any form, you're a dieing breed, thankfully.
Can't wait for more Top Gear US, and another job well done on the Motor Trend Channel. It's all automotive shenanigans, and if you are a REAL automotive enthusiast, you enjoy anything 'cars'.
Agreed. I actually like every car tv except one and I don't remember the name.
It's a great show, just top gear uk has set the bar so high.
no, the show sucks. it just copies every little detail of the uk show. only problem is, the us guys are bad actors and are not really orignial
jerri0401 They copy Top Gear and the show is called Top Gear? You don't say....
I'm from the UK and I prefer Top Gear USA. Clarkson's a bigotted egotist, Hammond's annoying as fuck and even though I like Captain Slow the dynamic between the American hosts is so much more fun.
"It looks like Ray Charles welded the headers with his feet."
Ray Charles was blind so that is why it's funny
My favorite quote lol
RIPRIDEROCKT- Minecraft And More Holey fuck Duh!
700 hp and 17 mpg,my vehicle has 110 hp and 13 mpg.I want what they have.
That's efi for you dude
it was around 400 hp with those screen "filters" they were very restrictive they realized it later :D
How much does your car weigh? You should be able to get better mileage than that.
Yeah, but what kind of torque output did you have?
Charley Of of course upup
"It looks like Ray Charles welded the headers with his feet"
Bravo.
Today I saw Mike Finnegan driving this car by the Big Chicken in Marietta Georgia. It was epic.
+Michael Farmer lol i saw him at paradise drag strip in calhoun today racing this car he lives in cobb county
yeah I know, I live in Cobb county too. He goes to local events a lot. I was at the Atlanta Dragway today to see the NHRA Southern nationals. What did he run?
I seen him a few seconds ago on this CZcams video lol
Finnegan lives in cobb county??? Isnt his shop etc in cali?
well the roadkill show is in cali. he drove blasphemi to ga
0:01 The lady at the beginning.... High as fuck.
red head with sunglasses
+Samual Iam Yeah, she is high as a kite!
+123Jokkmokk123 lol
In deed
+Samual Iam Stop it .... LOL.... You never know though.
'BUCKLE UP YA'LL, IT'S THE LAW'. Lmfao. I fucking love V8 engines, the South and America in general. Goddamnit this is beautiful.
Love how roadkill is presented by "Dickies, built to work" and on roadkill, nothing works xD
Roger Doger so true
I can't believe this show isn't on TV. You guys do such a great job at capturing that "feeling" that all gear heads want….building a cool car….cruising it and just having fun and creating memories. All the best from Canada.
OK! I'm over here in the UK watching you two 'Hero's' and I'm totally pi**ed off because you can do things in your country that would get me life in the big house if I even tried them over here.I am sad that we do not have the freedoms that you have, my country is so old it creaks if anybody has a fresh thought. The blue rince, wont do, can't do, I'm not trying that and neither are you brigade would rather eat razor blades than let anybody enjoy themselves like the pair of you do.I'm watching all your shows on the 'tube'. It's great stuff, thanks for the enjoyment fellas, keep burnin.Mike.
I gotta admit, I was a big hater of Top Gear US in the beginning cause I am such a massive fan of the original UK version but I must say, they've won me over. I really like the chemistry of top gear US now and as long as you don't compare it directly to the UK version and realize it's a different take on the show, you can really enjoy it.
of course, nothing beats ROADKILL!!!!!! :)
You mean the rebooted top gear uk. The original top gear uk sucked balls.
I don't believe Brits laughed in the 70's so definitely not the original version. They didn't find a sense of humour until the 90's........lol, j/k
brian hilligoss The original UK top gear also used to review cars properly - but I don't mind the fact that TGUK is less about actual facts, as we have CZcams stuff like Drive for that these days, which covers the 'serious car content' stuff better than a TV show aimed at pure ratings does (because serious car content on TV doesn't really work for ratings - which is why original TGUK went under).
Sheppy99 Brits gave the world Monty Python in the 70s and pretty much revolutionised televised humour, so fuck you very much.
Johnny Wrong Don't forget fawlty towers
This show is SO amazing that not even Rutledge Wood could ruin it! Truly EPIC...
You're an idiot. Oh like guiz this show rulez but like I'm going to diss your friend.
Your response speaks volumes..
Craig Williams Oh it does? Please go on and tell me what it tell's you. I'm not the one getting worked up over someone who host a show I don't like being on a show I do like. I'm just enjoying the show and not making fun of a friend of their's from a show they love. So go ahead, tell me what my comment says about me.
DeftonesFan867 Other than the word "Idiot" your response is unintelligible.
I'm so NOT worked up. It is a huge COMPLIMENT to Roadkill that I can enjoy it even with the milquetoast and annoying R.W. being involved. That is my opinion. God, I hope they don't visit the other Top Gear America guy (nurse betty actor). That would really blow HARD.
5 years later and still one of my favorite shows, always great how they find something positive no matter how crazy it is. “Setting records” 👍🏻
guys.....awesome! you guys are the true definition of american hotrod reality t.v show! you guys are not stuck up nose in the air celebrities...you guys are down to earth small town gear head guys. America needs more people like you guys and more t.v shows like this. I would love to shake your guys hand. keep up the TRUE, HONEST, NO DRAMA WORK!!!!!! AWESOME!
I can't believe someone else turned all of our lives into a show. You know who you are. Being a motor head on the move. Genius!
Alpha Ghost a motor head? Tf is what Lmfaoo
I've been re watching these old roadkill episodes yesterday and today and I just gotta say man these are awesome. -_- even if I've already seen them they're just still so much fun to watch again :D keep it up guys! and love from finland!
Do you EVER come to Illinois would be great to meet you both love your show. It gives great intertanment. I am 65 somewhat dsiabled and can't do what you do. thanks for putting your show on the web.
Jeffrey
In the summer they come to the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee. Ive been there for the 2015 show and the 2016 show and met them both, both times.
They also came in 2017 to gateway for roadkill ziptie drags
FIB
Simply put, that was freakin' awesome.
Stig! Are you confused by stairs?
Unknown Entity Central Let's just say kind of...
c meza Some say he invented what?
half way threw episode just wana comment and say man thanks for these videos\\\
great series and great people
I've been building my hotrod truck for 4 1/2 years now (children slow that process down) and watching this show gives me the ambition to keep pushing on. I will have it done next summer in time to take my oldest to his first day of 1st grade. Thank you for your dedication to the hotrod community. Hopefully one day I get to meet you guys.
Always the last to find out...............Just discovered these guys and their show on YT. I have to be the long lost third wheel to them. Been running my shop for 18 years and do 90% of my work on my back, on the ground and paying my dues!. 56 years young and
its still play to me. BUT MOST OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MOPAR RULES!!!!!!!! GREAT SHOW!
You were getting 17 mpg out of a 530ci, 700hp Hemi? Wow.
They leaned the fuck out of it though.
IKR
With the on the fly tuning program they had they probably had it leaned out to ~400HP for highway cruising.
sweazy1 Did you watch the whole video? They tuned it afterwards and managed 17 highway MPG. After that whole "ran out of gas" incident.
Quick somebody give them an award!
M/T DOT Street's actually work OK in a steady rain, up to about 55...been there. Better than any other slick-ish tire I've run before. When we initially built my lsx '66 c10, we had to finish it at midnight and leave a few hours later for LS-fest. We made it 1400 mi round trip with 0 mechanical failures, and took home a 1st place trophy at the show.
Truth...that car is about the look for sure!
Mike Finnegan Are you still doing the salt flats
REV J
I think its a nostalgic thing. The gassers are Hot Rod history, and this 55 is a fine example.
Naw I get that, its just a shame that there isn't a tire that'll do better for Mike while still giving a better performance. I was suuper suprised that my M/T's did that well, but they did (and do). You won't catch me with a different tire until something can surpass what I've experienced with 'em, ya know?
REV J- I am pleased they ran it on the racing tires, though there are alternatives out there, they pulled this off. This car is definitely about the look. A set of BF Goodrich tires on the rear would have messed up the theme. I gotta hand it to these guys for their commitment on this one.
It is also great to see young guys keeping the nostalgia alive like this. This whole video kept me captivated.
You guys are so awesome. How you manage to get the vehicles going, drive them, fix them on the road, and get this all on video is amazing. Add to that all the deadlines, editing, and daily phone calls concerning magazine stuff, I really don't see how you guys have a home life ! It's taken me years to get my 68' GTO going, but I'm getting close ! Thanks for all the inspiration.
This is probably the most enjoyable episode of roadkill yet!
Weird how Roadkill is so entertaining and Top Gear US is so lame.
Never watched us top gear our uk top gear is top notch but it's going to be petty shitty now they are letting clarkson go because he punched one of the producers and he's been fired
Top gear us is ok top gear UK is a lot better. But it's gone now. Roadkill is a lot better than top gear us.
The Green Cesspool well guess what. if they would have named it not top gear usa, people would like it
+The Green Cesspool - Maybe because this... as RW said...its actually a REAL show... with REAL people.
watch top gear england ... better than top gear us ...
God I love this thing, my favorite RoadKill car hands down.
I love this show! Those guys are really cool. Digging on the car. The ultra raised front end gives it such a crazy look. And that front axle made from round tubing - got to love it!
That 55 Chevy is awesome. Back in 1967-68 my junior year in high school I had a friend that had a 55 Chevy with a tilt fiberglass front end. That was my first experience with hot rods and had the bug from then on. Great show
This is so killer! Reminds me of my Have you ever dreamed of a Mean '55 BelAir? video! Keep it up guys.
XD
Very cool yesterday....ten times cooler now. Times gone bye, masterly rekindled by modern heros of hot rodding. Thank you.
when you said Top Gear, I knew it would be USA but I was hoping to see Richard, Jeremy, or James....
I don't think Blasphemi would have handled the Atlantic Pond very well.....
Top Gear Live tours the UK and Europe. I seen the guys in Scotland earlier this year...perhaps they will go to the US sometime. Brill live btw :)
I love this show... And congrats on the success of this 55 Chevy Gasser project making it all the way Charlotte North Carolina!
You guys are inspiring for regular guys who have real budgets and work projects one day, month at a time.
I've never heard of Street Outlaws, but these guys give out a very douchie vibe
Lost for words. Ep29 and 30 were amazing, inspiring, and just so much fun to watch. And when u guys met up wit street outlaws, I literally freaked out. Love what u guys do, keep it up
20:25 "one hell of an ice cream truck" LOL
They took a 60 year old car, made it ridiculously stupid awkward and drove it across the United States, Hate them for wearing flip flops if you want, THAT IS BAD ASS. Let us see some more of this action, SHALL WE.
It's not really a 55 chevy, you know. 1/3 of the body is fiberglass, what isn't was patched and stripped down to the bare metal, and it has a Chrysler engine in it :) It has a custom fabricated frame that carries the body (hate to think what they would've had to do if it was unibody), and the interior was built up just enough to seat two people very uncomfortably. I doubt that a stock 55 chevy Bel Air looks or drives much like this custom drag racer does.
Still I think it's nice that some essence of that old era still lives on, even if it is heavily transformed.
opl500 I guess Mr. Literal (Opuss5,) has an issue with Mr.Figurative and saw fit to straighten it all out. So to take it to Opuss'es extreme, if you had changed the the tires or plugs on an 'original' 55, it's not really a 55 anymore. Lastly your attempt to 'show that ya' kno' has a caveat. Go screw yourself, literally, your nuts to a 4x4 landscaping timber using rusty #18 lag bolts
opl500
The car was body on frame they all were back then, and yes there's vary little of the factory 55 left in it. look at the past episodes (IIRC29) the chasiss was made to fit the 55 and give the gasser look it was a bolt on biggest mod was to cut and radius the rear quarter panels for tire clearance twice once on the original quarters then again when they got replaced.
opl500
It is still a 55 chevy.....
Amen +Mike Finnegan. opl500 is just trying to pick a fight, to pick a fight. Everyone get out your troll spray, and for God's sake DO NOT CROSS STREAMS. LOL
15:05 best sound ever!!!!!!!
You guys never cease to amaze me.. awesome.
Two Lane Blacktop is one of my favorite movies. It looks like it would've been a blast to do what they did back in the day. Roadkill looks fun too!
21:40 "you're gonna get fired" woops, Roadkill killed American TopGear
So if you say your girlfriend is all wallerd out that wouldn't be a good think. No that might actually get you in a fight. Frickin hilarious
That last few minutes with Freiburger explaining about the fans made me tear up a bit. Not gonna lie. You guys, are truly badass.
And Rutledge is right. THIS IS the only REAL reality car show. Sorry, not an American Top Gear fan. Im a Roadkill Fan.
You guys are insane... but that's what makes your show the best car show around. Awesome build!
"So it would be a bad thing if I said your girlfriend is all wallered out?" Lol
I love how when they took that guy from the chevy place for a ride outside was a 57 (I beileve it was a 57, I don't know too much about 50s cars).
The cars a 55
+Ekd I'm not talking about blasphemi I'm talking about the car outside the chevy dealership. The 55 had a different front end and was abit shorter.
+Ekd it's at 7:22
Looks like a 57
+Ekd yeah. 57 had that bodystyle.
This has got to be my favorite episode of Roadkill. Great job.
5:13 '64-'66 Mustang goes by on a trailer.
Every time i wear my cargo shors and flip flops to the swap meet...i feel like a mexican frieburger!
15:05 that, is what *awesome* sounds like
that, is what *Hemi* sounds like
oh wait, hemi and awesome are the same thing hehe
Fantastic video ever. All of them. Thank you.
Love the show. In roadkill fashion, I have a 73 AMC Matador w/ a 350/350 combo, kia rio seats and a fabbed front bumper( ala General Mayhem). You guys ROCK.
I've pushed slicks with a spool a little harder than that in the rain but I wouldn't recommend it unless you got a few screws loose ,in that case..just keep it straight n hammer on!!,lol
***** With a spool or a posi? The ass skates all over the place with a spool, the faster you go the worse it gets. May be a little better with a heavier vehicle.
God, country, Roadkill
JC Image Inc You are everything that's wrong with America that isn't it's politics.
Yay, I'm everything of something! Thank you kind sir!!
Darn right brotha. Country, God and Roadkill are what make this nation. Hahaha
Hgvg
JC Image Inc
Roadkill, Country, V8's
Best episode yet Chevy with a hemi in it, murder Nova and big chief , and then Rutledge wood couldn't get any better then that
loved the hole thing ,awesome job guys, come to Maine in the summer this year.
Best episode yet Chevy with a hemi in it, murder Nova and big chief , and then Rutledge wood couldn't get any better then that
Mightycarmods, Roadkill, Matt Farah and Mike Musto should collab on a video
i would like to add Chris Harris to your list :)
It would be entertaining to watch for sure. And that many people working on one car would ensure it would get done on time for once :)
I'd suggest Corbin Goodwin as well.
but what would they build :)
Whatever it would be, it would have some turbos and go fast.
This is one of my favorite episodes of Roadkill!!
My father, back in the 60's, built a 56 Chevy with a Mopar 383 and had the pushbutton auto under the dash. I never saw it, but I heard many stories about it. His favorite was how people would ask to drive it and he'd toss them the keys, but they couldn't figure out how to get it in gear. He would have enjoyed this.
roadkill with all honesty is better than TG.
it isn't better than grand tour!
electronics for fun no no no no!!!! sorry that's a a misunderstanding, I'm talking about TG (Top Gear) USA and Chris Evan's Top Gear.
l know. but it isn't better than grand tour.
electronics for fun haven't said anything about the Grand Tour.
huh! nevermind then. l was just mentioning one of if not the great car show in the world!
Seeing gas at 3.85 a gallon in the back ground made me damn near sick.
+Steve Lattimer They would've ben running at like 1000 bucks worth of gas for the 2500 miles :O
+Steve Lattimer That's still cheap as hell for EU Standards...we pay about 5.50 $ for one Gallon of "normal" (95 Octane RON, our "Premium" would be 98 Octane RON...so roughly 90/94 AKI or (R+M)/2)...
Dam it’s sometimes almost 3$ around here but sometimes it’s as low as 1.80
Up in canada were paying almost $5 a gallon
It's currently $1.90 where I am at in USA.
Awesome car and an awesome trip. All I can say that I don't think there is a Motor head alive that wouldn't tip their hats to you guys. Respect.
great episode .. but what else can you expect from these guys, they're awesome!
Where did Finnegan get that rocker switch panel??
Anyone knows why they stopped the top gear us and when the uk returns with the new season?
There is a new season of top gear us now and uk might be back in august
Because Top Gear US sucks.
Vixhall You gotta stop with the damn Topgear US sucks circlejerk. The US and UK are both good and you're getting covered more more content. the US version covers A LOT more american cars which the UK really lacked and made me sad about.
Go ahead and look at the UKs first few seasons and it's not the Topgear you know today. Give it some time.
Vixhall I think you my friend are talking about Top Gear Australia , It failed miserably . Or perhaps Top Gear Asia?
So the top gear US os currently with the new season on air right now?
What a great car and fantastic road trip. You guys rock.
now i want a 55 Chevy Gasser! darn it! love these cars!
Top Gear UK > Top Gear US
+Tae Young Lee ..........i DONT THINK YOU HAVE TO BE THE 5TH BILLION PERSON TO SAY THAT, lIKE REALLY? tELL US SOMETHING WE DONT ALREADY NO..
+Dre Ray Know* there you go. Something you don't know
+GamerJetic well played sir.
Top gear UK = Shite.
Classic top gear UK> hot rod magazine> US top gear.
17 MPG is better than my average in my 5.7 Challenger R/T.
I think he said 7 mpg
Originally, yes, but then they tuned it and got much better. Also it's in the video description.
I love the way he asked if the cops bother them and when he said no he just casually floors it
watching this while I work... Best day at work ever!
Wherever mike fennigan is at there is an interesting show! Awesome material here
badass level 1,000,000
