I don't think he has a bad character, I think zero was just extremely salty NGL. I think people hated zero more during his smash4 era than they ever did esam.

But everything else? I started really hating ESAM because of how he acts on twitter, plus all the racist shit ive heard stories of him saying by others adds onto it. I also dont mean like joking racism with your friends. Like genuine gutteral racism that really just left a sour taste in my mouth. He's also bald.

Unfair matchup. Zero V ESAM in a boxing match is like having 5K hours in smash and playing against a literal toddler. Trust me, the skill and physical capability disparity between someone who trains in any combat sport vs someone who doesn’t even do any sport (to my knowledge) is ridiculously large.

Didn’t even know this before, thought he was cool. A few years back I met him at a con and I definitely get why he’s unlikable 😂 dude was super uncool compared to any other player I had met. Few minutes later ran into Mango and he was the coolest mfer you can imagine man. Super awesome guy and seems to care about his fans.

Dreamhack Atlanta 2018, one of the last smash 4 tournaments, met Mr. E, Tweek, Locus, a few other top level players, all wonderful people, especially Tweek… but Esam? Yikes, I’m walking past him, made the mistake of showing on my face that I recognized him, and then he grabbed my hand for a shake when I didn’t offer it, and shooed me away after it. I was only trying to get by him but he made a display of it like he was some sort of celebrity.
Esam doesn't have like the best social skills so it makes sense like he's not a bad guy but he rubs salt into the wounds unintentionally

To be fair he has a lot of personal gripes with a lot of smash people, specially from the 4/ultimate era that he was never able to voice out.
If you see him talk about some melee/brawl people that isn't leffen he's extremely chill

I used to actually respect Esam a lot as a player. He was the only guy taking advantage of Pikachu as a top tier in Ultimate. Unlike a lot of top players, he wouldn't downgrade the quality of his character. He would openly admit how good Pikachu was.
But looking back, I get that I never experienced what it was like to play against him. I also just kinda realized how lame and irritating Pikachu is to play against, and how lame Esam can be in combat. So I can see why someone would hate playing him.
But compared to some of the other players who were present in the community pre-allegations, Esam's not half-bad.
