Would love to see you over here in the UK (once we can travel again!) doing short game tips on a rock hard links course. Just be interesting to see how you have to adapt your technique. Things like "i'm 60 yards short of the green so i'll putt this one" or "i'm 200 yards out so i'll try to chip my 2 iron 100 and let it run"

In 1971 I played in a corporate golf outing with my old pro tour clubs with a sweet spot the size of a dime. I was the clerk playing with the corporate elite of Western Electric a subsidiary of Ma Bell, the telephone company giant (monopoly). I moved the ball a few times during the round. It helped my score. I didn’t expect at a corporate meeting several days later to be called upon to receive a trophy . It seemed nearly everyone got a trophy. I wasn’t going to play mister honest guy. So I took the trophy. I simply cared to think of myself as being better than I actually was. I was trying to dream my way to becoming a better player.

The way someone conducts themselves on the golf course is a fair indication of how they conduct themselves in other areas of their lives.
One or two rounds of golf is many times all it takes to know who that person is that's playing across from you. The pressure of a bet or just the ego is often enough to expose things about people they don't even realize they have let out I think that is why it is such a popular thing for business people to invest some time doing. It isn't always just fun and games.

You’ve opened my eyes wide. I have never considered this. Cheating only cheats themselves. Deliberately bogeying the last 3 holes to keep a higher handicap ive seen, but never underhandedness.

Great video. I've played with people that have snapped branches off trees because it interfered with their swing/stance and then say "oh, can't you do that then? I didn't know" Seen other groups in competitions 'give' a short putt even though you should hole out and amazingly one of their group winning the comp (and obviously sharing the winnings with their playing partners) Using the 'leather wedge' kicking/moving ball with foot to get a better lie/swing. So many cheats out there, especially when it comes down to money, winning a comp etc. Keep your eye on everyone....

funny thing, I am not good about an 11 now, but i used to give myself a free drop here or there and not count every stroke... i was a 16, when i started counting everything and found out how bad iw as, it made me improve... cheaters only cheat themselves
Spin with driver doesn't change. I've seen numerous videos comparing pro V with harder balls with driver and they get the same numbers. So usi g a hard ball off the tee for more distance is a myth. With irons that's a different matter.

You crack me up😂. I was called on an infraction last week on the tee blocks. I was apparently further than two club lengths behind the blocks. I wasn’t even aware of that rule. I don cheat intensionally I just don’t know all of the rules and how to apply them. If I question something I generally ask my playing partners. I don’t want to be labeled a cheater. Luv ya brother, be safe.
That was a simple mistake, but it was avoidable if you had actually read the Rules of Golf. So, if you haven't done so, now's your chance. And, never take the word of playing partners regarding the rules, mainly because rules change and people have some serious misunderstandings regarding what they really are.
That said, don't let anyone call you a cheater just because you broke a rule. The two are NOT the same thing.

Winter rules played in the summer. Winter rules: lift, clean and replace turns into a drivers length to benefit the person. When playing terrible and not betting, keeping score and or just out there by myself, I'll sometimes do the two-ball, so I don't lose a good ball off the box--they're expense! :)

Played with a guy that did the flip his mark forward trick. If you want to know a person play golf with them. It will show a of their faults and strengths.
I agree that it's cheating. However, if a guy is such a crappy putter that 3 inches is going to make a difference, then let it go because he will probably miss the putt anyway.
I do the "drop four balls in the fairway after screwing up a 2nd shot."
Totally obvious, and I'm not competing in any universe, but sometimes I just want to know I can actually do what I just failed to do.
Agreed same thing when me and my dad play. I score in the 90's and sometimes down to the mid 80's. So personally I will hit a ball without a penalty if I lose it to see what my score truly would be and if it get it in the low 80's. But we do keep our real scores as well. We call it "In a perfect world" rules

I hear ya. I use to play with this one guy regularly. I emphasize use to play. He couldn't count past a stroke past bogey. He'd shot a 7 or 8 on a par 4 and say he got a bogey. It if was a bogey he'd call it a par. No more...not worth it.
Awesome content as always. Do a video on my friends that shoot 120 with 4 and 5 foot gimmies along with the mulligan they are entitled to after slicing a drive in the water. Love them dudes but man they can't count.
Me and my buddies just started playing this summer... there is no way to cheat. We play for no money and just want to retain as many balls as possible over the day, so please do as much improvement as possible to make the next shot stay in play... saves everyone involved alot of time and frustration
I used to do some of these things. When I first started playing. But, not anymore. I have gotten much better. Not professional better. But, a little better. I went to the driving range and spent hours practicing. 3-4 days a week. And hit the golf course at least 2 times a week. I'm consistently in the low, to mid 80's now. Without doing any of this.

😂😂😂 It is very funny MSG and have you seen the one where a guy always checked to make sure it is his ball no matter where it ended so they could improve the lie 😂. The best way to handle cheaters for me is not betting and just play my game trying to follow the rules the best i can and not worry about what other players do because if they can live with their action then that is their business. Great stuff! My neighbor could be a candidate for a PhD dissertation of cheating at golf. One round with him is crazy,... I counted 17 extra strokes he didn't count one time. Lost 3 balls on one hole and gave himself a bogey. We all just laugh at him and just all agreed we would never play for $$ or bring him to a tournament. People!

I used to golf with a guy that cheated beyond belief. He'd hit a drive that would end up behind a tree then say,' Im not hitting from here'! Then he would fluff up every shot, every one even in the fairway! I started to toss him a tee and tell him he might as well use it since he moved the ball all over the place. The thing that pissed me off the worst is he would go back to the clubhouse and brag how well he played! I'm like yeah you cheated that's why!!!
Hello, I have a question. I was on the range for my weekly practice, I tried the scene method. My question is, on the back swing do I keep the hand position through the down swing or do I release my hands through the follow through..? Thanks . I did smack it hard..lol

I love these videos. Ive seen the 45° ball marking. Guy got an easy 3 feet closer to the pin. Worst part is i was brand new to the game and played 15 strokes worst than him. So we werent even in a match we were just playing for fun. So obviouly dude is just a cheater.

"Slideroony" ! One player,I heard about, used a metal ball marker,which he would move by using a magnet.He attached the magnet to his putter,everytime he took it out of the bag.He was banned when other players became suspicious, after seeing him putt from 10 feet closer to the hole several times.

This was so funny. I have definitely seen a couple of these. They always believe they are fooling me but I know exactly what they are doing. Personally I don't give myself an inch. If you cheat you are only really cheating yourself.

...pushing down the grass behind the ball with an iron? - does the name Rahm come to mind?. I love it when they say "oh gee, I didn't mean to do that". What they mean is that they wish they hadn't got caught at it. Part of the reason I don't play for $ or in tournaments anymore is due to the mentality that enables people to cheat at the game. Golf is supposed to be a game of integrity. Many times it is not. Be careful who you chose to play the game with.
This is a funny video. Love it. I saw lot of guys on the golf course, they move their balls even on the fairway to get a better lie. On putting green, they never putt within 4 feet. I bet most of them will miss half of those putts.

matt 30 years ago in myrtle beach. it was a penalty if your hand went below your knee in the fairway. guys were green life savers to tee the ball espically with woods. no bad lies. magnet in the bottom of the putter with a metal ball mark. plastic ball markers. we played for thousands a round and you have never seen sh@t like this. one guy was a great hustler had his iron shafts bent overnight as we left our clubs with the caddies to be cleaned overnight. changed the loft on everything. guys cut a hole in the pocket to replace a lost ball. Good video have been following you way before you moved.
I've only seen golfers cheat 3 ways. 1)The ol' foot wedge. 2)Not counting O.O.B. strokes. 3)wrongfully improving lie.
Yeah I’m “the worst” golfer in my group allegedly, but I’m the only guy that plays every tee shot, no mulligans. I’ll see the squad take 2/3 tee shots each, choose their favourite then ask me why I got a bogey?
I’d rather have big numbers that I know are real than fake low scores.
You forgot to mention the guy who goes into the rough, then pulls a string inside his pants pocket to let a spare ball (already pre-marked) "drop" in a nice clear spot and ignore the one lying behind the tree!

I play in a league with a guy who tees off with a yellow ball because it's easier to find , and then putts with a white ball. I honestly don't think he knows that's illegal. I want to say something, but I'm new in this league and he's been in it for years. I don't think I'll be going back next summer, I've got a tip on another league, just waiting for an opening.

There are plenty of them in weekend groups. Most wouldn’t consider them cheaters as some groups just play rolling lies or whatever. Depends on what your playing for. If it’s a serious round then play by the rules.
I saw Langer in a tournament spot his mark in front of his ball, then replace the ball in front of the mark when it was his turn to putt. I couldn't believe it! Cheater! All in front of the TV cameras!

to be fair their are so many rules of golf I only know a handfull of them, but if there is no money on the line and your out having fun with the boys, as long as its not completely obvious then who cares. as long as you are honest with your self with the rules that you know then who cares we are not on the PGA tour or in a tournament just go out and have fun.

We had one guy we called "Got It Guy". When looking for his lost ball, he seemed to be vry lucky in finding it with a very nice lie. After a while people made sure they followed him. Another guy seemed to play very well only during tournaments, Played with a couple of time during regualr rounds. He shot 80 and 83 and posted 88 for both and marked one as a tournament score. The club I play with seems to be aware of it but not doing anything to adjust his handicap. Shoots below par net wise a whole lot. About 5-6 shots better on tournament days. He is the reason I no longer play in their tournaments.
Mike had a video where he took a stance left handed, took relief then hit the shot right handed.
What makes me laugh is they are only cheating them selves. I was in a comp once and moved my ball at address and declared a shot, I was astonished at how many people said I was stupid. Also I got accused of "finding my original ball" after I played a provisional ball (Which I genuinely did) so now my main ball is white and second ball is yellow. I wish I could produce and sell provisional balls everyone seems to hit them better.
There's nothing wrong with playing a provisional ball and then finding the original ball. That's often why it's done, but many people simply don't understand the purpose of it.
Biggest cheat I've ever played with in my life. Lads week-end away, one of the guys was at least 30' feet from the hole, walked across the green and thinking no-one was watching dropped his ball marker at about the halfway point.
Picked his ball up and proceeded to putt from where he'd dropped his marker. Was told not to say anything for fear of causing a row. Never played with the guy again. Total and utter tosser.
Holy Cow, life is already complicated. Never knew Golf can be that tricky as well....

Maybe it's karma, but anytime I cheated a little or rolled the ball etc. I end up hitting a bad shot, but when i'm hitting an awkward pitch shot or hitting out of a diviot, etc. it ends up being the cleanest pure hit.
Ya some guys I just can’t stand, the guy who marks his ball with a poker chip and adds 2 inches to the ball in front of the marker! He always lifts his ball in the ruff to ID it and gently puts back so it sits up. Called him on it and he says “I’m allowed to identify my ball”, but every time he’s in the ruff???? Old pro showed me a couple tricks to keep him honest or should I say less of a cheater!! Glad Mike pointed that incident out on his channel!
Hey Matt, you left out the guy in the bunker. He basically scoops dirt out from behind his ball so it's teed up with dirt about an inch so he can hit it out of the bunker. I see this all the time. I ask what are you doing? he'll say raking the bunker. holy cow!

Me and my ten year old son love these videos. He still some days will intentionally hit his ball into a trap go in yell as he's laughing hey dad watch this shot. Hit the sand as hard as he can while throwing his ball up and out.

Sunday morning and a guy's wife says to him, "How come you don't play golf with the club captain on Sundays anymore?" The guy says, "well would you want to play with a guy that kicks his ball out of the rough, shoots a 6 but scores a five and coughs at just the right time to put you off your stroke?" "Of course not." reply's the wife. " Nor does the club captain."
unless your playing competitively, I wouldnt worry about people cheating.... theyre only hurting themselves and when and if they want to try tournament play they will get annihilated and make fools of themselves
but what about the old saying [ cheaters never win } my tip is this .... you will never truly improve unless you play it as it lies and improve your spot as best you can by applying the rules to the best of your advantage ! and its true that you will never know the true character of a person until you have played golf with them !
