  • A new WSJ poll found that former president Donald Trump has taken the lead over President Joe Biden in half a dozen key battleground states including Michigan, Georgia and Arizona. The lead for the 2020 rematch is propelled in part by broad voter dissatisfaction with the national economy and doubts about Biden’s capabilities and job performance.
Wall Street Journal editor Aaron Zitner explains what the latest numbers tell us about America’s approaching 2024 presidential election.
    Chapters:
    0:00 WSJ poll
    0:18 Biden broadly unpopular
0:43 Trusting Trump on big issues
    1:49 Dissatisfaction with economy
    2:38 Third-party candidates
    3:59 Persuadable voters

Well that's not what economists are really talking about. They mean things are getting harder at a lesser and lesser rate, which is a really good thing. It indicates progress is being made. This means we won't have to worry about price further increasing and going out of control.
Expecting prices to just revert back to pre-Covid would be too much of an ask for any of the countries in the world that are suffering through this.

The economy and consumer price index are two very different things. Your US businesses are worth more now than ever in history and certainly better off than they where under the trump era. But the price of goods for consumers has been a struggle over the past couple of years, not due to any policy but due to high GLOBAL inflation due to the pandemic and the war in Ukraine in particular. It's been a global issue not entirely caused by one government of any nation.

Why else do you think 🤔 people from other countries wants to come to America 🇺🇸? To experience the American 🇺🇸 Dream.

Where's the actual numbers? If the margin of error exceeds a candidate's lead the poll is irrelevant. If the number of undecideds is a multiple of a candidate's lead the poll is irrelevant. If these numbers are not made plain and apparent this "journalism" is irrelevant.

  • @thomabb

What these polls don't take into consideration is the perception of the economy. All the traditional markers of an economy are good, but the individual people are seeing the economy through the lens of inflation.

That's just ignorance. It's not inflation that's causing the problems they're seeing. It's corporate price gouging and supply and demand. The fact that these companies can increase their price as much as they have and citizens are still buying is indicative of an incredibly strong economy. Citizens claim they have no money but they're spending spending spending. Demand is still high for unnecessary items and services.

The Pandemic has had an Everlasting effect on the economy and it absolutely amazes me that everybody and their mother just simply thinks that inflation and the pandemic never went hand in hand. Inflation isn't something controlled by any white house, and even in Trump's presidency he had no controlled over the Fed while bitching about the Fed.
