- For some reason, painting an RC body scares people and we get it. If you’ve never painted a body before, you’re probably worried about how to mask the body, how to hold the paint can, how far away to spray it, how much you spray and many other things. But painting a body doesn’t have to be scary. Sure it takes some practice and you might mess up the first body or two. But painting can actually be pretty easy if you take your time and have the right tips to help you out. We think you can do it and create a great paint job with some “how to” tips and tricks you’ll find in this video. Greg has to paint a body for his Arrma Infraction, so he grabbed a bunch of Duratrax Spray paint and filmed the process of painting the body. There’s tons of great info here to help out anyone from newbies to pros.
Note: Always wear a mask and spray paint in well ventilated areas.

Impressive finish. Very nice paint job. Thanks for an awesome video and all the helpful tips!
Body came excellent. One of the best tutorials I've seen so far.
Not as bad as I thought it would be! Thank you for this!!
Great looking body!! Awesome Paint Job!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Beautiful job. Thanks for sharing!
Killer job Greg came out amazing!
As always another great video! Have learned a lot from you. Keep up the awesome work!
Wow 😮..... just... wow...... this is immaculate
That body looks awesome!!! Keep up the good work👍👍👍
I just painted a JConcepts Ford body with Duratax paint too. I found that although the cans are bigger than Tamiya, I still didn't get satisfactory opaqueness from certain colors with a single can (I was using racing red). But I agree with them spraying very evenly and smoothly. I also used bright silver for the bumper areas and lightly backed the red with it and it covered just fine. Finally I used their "backing black" to finish everything, and it is very opaque and covers well. I highly recommend that "backing" black paint.
Nice work. Thanks for the tips.
Awesome job Greg.
best looking body i've ever seen!
Wow that came out great!!!!
Great job..look great🔥🔥💪💪
wow great job
It looks top draw mate.
All your uploads are put over in a humble way and in my opinion they install the confidence for people to have a go themselves.
Love the paint job
Great looking paint job 👌👀👀
Looks killer man! Nice job..
That looks so good!
What an awesome video Id love to see you paint some more with this technique. Still not confident enough to try somthing that elaborate with so many colors

Great vid Greg, just getting caught up on some behind vids...been busy with reopening’s. This vid will be tagged with your tire gluing video as my go-to’s! Great to see technical vids on top of reviews!
Quick edit: Rear Wheels Orange would look sick.
Nice work came out great 👍🏽
Looks perfect 👊🏻👍🏻
Your videos really inspire your audience. Always successful and healthy Boss
I think that masking base glue/paint was key. Much nicer than cutting tape. Very nice finished job!
Nice job !!!
Man that’s killer 👍🏼
nice greg
That body is nice 👍🏾
Wow
That’s nice.
Nice paint job and good tutorial, that truck will scream now 😎👍
Great vid 💯
Nice 👍
Hi, thankyou for going through the details. I haven't seen the liquid mask done before.
Yeah the only other person I’ve seen do it before him is msm
Came out great Greg!
Thank you my friend!!
Good stuff buddy
That thing is F$@#&N SWEET 👍NICE JOB
Awesome video, thank you so much.
Can I do a mixture of rattle can and airbrush?
Hi love you video
Looks great! What wheel/tire setup are you running? That neon green looks nice!
Great paint work. I’m quite fond of playing around with Tamiya paints on my lexan bodies...learning with each paint job. Still need to improve on masking skills though.
Masking can be the tough part especially when using tape. Practice! 😀
Them plastic bread ties work good to with hot glue. I broke my rear tower shock and used a gel super glue and didn't work so i just gorilla glued it tested fine but haven't hit the huge ramp yet
Love the video I would Also like to know were your shop is to see if I can swing by and look at some parts
DIY SPRAY PAINT CAN SHAKER-
WHATS NEEDED:
- Reciprocating Saw
- 2 Old Reciprocating Saw Blades
- One 18” F-clamp
- 2 bolts, 2 lock washers, 2 nuts
- Small piece of 400-600 grit sandpaper with adhesive backing or you will need glue to attach the sandpaper to the 2 clamping pads on the F-clamp. Which glue depends on the material of the F-clamp attachments pads. I found the added sandpaper was necessary and affective in keeping the spray cans from sliding out during the shaking process. Go ahead and attach sandpaper any time during your build.
DIRECTIONS:
-Drill 2 matching holes near middle to tip of the saw blades.
-Drill matching holes in end of F-clamp.
-Place the two blades together and attach them to the F-clamps using 2 nut/bolt/washer set and then slide the doubled up saw blades into saw (yes most saws will hold the 2 blades at once without issue)
- Clamp paint can into F-clamp.
- Attach saw blades into your saw.
- Start shaking away ( START SLOW FELLOWS )
Awesome paint job! Which liquid mask did you use?
Thank you for this video I learned a lot from it. I have a question the body was for an electric rc correct. If it was for my nitro revo would I cut out the windshield or a hole in it and one in the bed. Am new to all this .thank you.
You should make a video of all of your rc cars 🏎
Do you have a specific liquid mask that you prefer for polycarbonate bodies?
I'm new to the hobby in general, but have started to apply masking tape to a clear body to have my own custom look. It's not difficult to apply masking tape, but it is very hard getting fine details such as logos...especially after painting over it I can't even see the lines of where i cut into the tape. Thank you for all the videos you create and can't wait to see what you do next!
I was wondering that also on the liquid mask
Looks awesome, I was just thinking about ordering a clear body for my arrma big rock crew cab which by the way, I'm loving so far
Thanks!
@@rcdriver I have a quick question, how does arrma do the real steel look? I would love to duplicate something like that
@@muhammedkhan3375 i think they use the main color on the outside and grey on the inside.
Great job - where did you get the liquid masking Hobby king says “we don’t sell that” maybe because they owe me a few dollars for selling me a used battery charger that didn’t work
What's the best paint remover if you want to strip and repaint a lexan body?
Rattle Can Guru..
Please add a link or let us know in comments what liquid mask you prefer to use on your gear . Nice work, id like to give it a go myself.
So before you start painting do you cut all the design out with xacto knife and then paint? Does the paint get into the cut lines? Or do you cut a design, paint, cut a design, paint?
Hi can you see if there is a custom body for the stampeed that you could do or if you have already can you show us
Which liquid masking are you using?
Great paint job Greg, those colours look great! How do you warm your paint cans, I have a couple of bodies to paint myself and as I don’t do this very often,(Never) I do need some guidance on this subject.
Eric Christopher put spray cans 10 min in warm water
Thanks for your help, great stuff!
Wait so do you take the liquid mask off first before you paint the body? Or do you keep it on , sorry I’m really confused I’ve been looking up tutorials and some people do different things, if anyone can let me know of any other tutorials, I’m just trying to do a solid color body
What liquid mask did you use?
I have a simple rc car, that i swapped the motors for fun. The swapped back motor works but the steering one did not, it just slowly clicks to one direction and no movement to the other. Any ideas? Thanks.
Any idea to do blood spatter ?
Very nice job on the body, would you like to paint mine, just kidding still learning as well.
LOL! Practice, you’ll get there! 😁
Why didn't you use magnets on the body shell! cheers
what liquid mask did you use?
What kind of paint can you use on plastic body?
Anyone find out what type of liquid mask was used?
Any chance I can purchase that body from you Greg ?
scuff up the body to I have a body from 2 years ago and the paint is coming of (slowly)
Scuffing is an option. I typically only suggest it when people are trying to use a paint not formulated for Lexan.
would that body fit on a slash?
No, it wouldn’t
@@rcdriver ok thanks, it just looked very neat
look like an older john cena
this guy looks like john cena
Am I the only one that can smell this video? Haha.
for some reason I thought this was an RC Volkswagen Pickup Truck, still looks that way to me from the front
Over power 🔋 12s it.
Rustoleum 2X paint is great, dont waste time with Duratrax or Tamiya
Hello do you have Instagram?
I didn’t know you were supposed to spray form under 😂😅
Can you paint my rc body?
nice job but Duratrax cost too much and takes forever, use the 2x, cheaper/faster, we are gonna wreck em anyway, use cheaper paint
Warm the cans up *puts them in the microwave*
That did not look easy at all. Could not have looked more complicated.
