    ABOUT
Today, we'll be learning Russian with the Russian anthem. This video was requested by many subscribers, so I just had to do it. I promise not to sing because I'm a horrible singer (though it would be a funny video). Instead, we'll go through every single line, you'll see the lyrics both in Russian and English, and I'll slowly pronounce each line in Russian a couple of times. If you have suggestions on which song I should use next for my lesson, leave a comment below. Let's go!

Yes but remember it says everything about recent Russian history that the song has had 3 sets or words, one set being made illegal at one point, and has been the anthem for 2 natons and for a long time didn't have any words, that is it said nothing. Emotion with meaning is a risky poliy

Thank God the Russian language isn’t too different from English, seeing that both stem from Greek, the Russian alphabet even closer to Greek than English. It was easier for me to teach myself Russian because I’ve been reading Greek for decades.
So angering that «я» is pronounced different at the beginning of a word than at the end.
But it’s a small adjustment when one is committed. The anthem had such a progressive bass note arrangement and is very classical. It’s easier to play the tune on piano/keyboards than to pronounce the words!
Thanks for your efforts. Best anthem for harmony I know of.

@@BoostYourRussian Kristina...I am not a big fan of hers either. It is just that she was a star in Russia but not well known outside Russia, so your students may be curious about her. "Hey, who is she? I want to know more..." = paying attention to the lesson. She had a long career; what made her popular? Other Russian artists, painters, writers, have the same qualities: fame and popularity in Russia, not as well known elsewhere. The story would be the context to keep the student's attention while they learned vocabulary and idioms in Russian.
In any case, keep on doing what you are doing you do a wonderful job.

Hi!! Thanks a lot for your work, it has been of great help, btw I love "learn Russian with TV". I would like to suggest an idea, there's this French Podcast for foreigners that you can find in "Inner French" on CZcams, basicly it's a podcast in French about some random subjects, but that is spoken a little slower than it is when spoken naturally so students of the language can get used to it, beyond it even though there aren't French or English subtitles the transcription of the podcast is also disponible online, so any unknown words, doubts of grammar and so on can be solved through the analysis and translation of it by the own listenners and also it's really nice to train the prononciation, I enjoyed reading the transcripts later on, and this type of material really helped me a lot in learning French. I didn't find any similar type of material in Russian yet, Indeed I found some podcasts with transcriptions or sites with audio texts and transcriptions like "чтение для детей подкаст" and "мишкины книжки", however either they have a vocabulary too complex for people that are starting to learn Russian, or they speak too quickly even though the vocabulary is adequate for whom is starting to learn it. Anyway both of these materials aren't destined for foreign learners. Maybe you could check out the podcasts of "Inner French", if you like the concept of it maybe you could be a pionner of it in Russian teaching for foreigners😁

Thank you so much for this! I have to tell you a story. I'm from Finland, and our folk music is pretty much the same as in Russia. That is why I think Russian music has always been very popular in Finland. And almost 30 years ago happened something that changed my life completely. There was this funny punk/rock group in Finland from the late seventies, called Sleepy Sleepers. They concentrated mainly on having fun, making funny lyrics and provoking. Then when years went by, they actually learned to play, and started to make good shows. After Soviet Union turned to Russia again, they came up with this crazy idea. They invented The Red Army Chorus to Helsinki center, to have a show together, and changed their name to Leningrad Cowboys. And what a show that was! It was the union with east end west. I was there! I can't explain the feeling, it was sooooooo unbelievable. Loved EVERY minute of it. Here in this song you can here this National Anthem in between the ZZ Top's "Gimme all your loving".czcams.com/video/qNSfhhrWINE/video.html
After that show I started to learn Russian songs, and I love to sing them. In Russian. Many of those are very popular in Finnish too, and they are recorded in Finnish many times thru the years. Now I'm learning "ТЕМНАЯ НОЧЬ" (Tumma on yö) and my favorite is "Очи черные" (Mustat silmät), "Подмосковные вечера" (Moskovan illat) and "Незабываемый вечер" (Unohtumaton ilta). I have the musical notes and lyrics to them, so it has been very easy to learn. I would love to learn for example "На сопках Манчжурии" (Mantsurian kummut) or "Ямщик, не гони лошадей" (Ajomies) or "Ой, рябина кудрявая" (Uralin pihlaja) or "Московские окна" (Moskovan valot) or any! I simply love these! I put the Finnish names there, if somebody's interested in searching for them in Finnish. And although I can pretty much translate these by my self, it's sometimes hard with only a dictionary, with word by word. Doesn't always make any sense. Would also help to understand phrases, just like the books with longer sentences translated. So thank you very much, music is a very good way to learn any language.

I learned the anthem in the 1980s-- with different words, of course. I wish I could have told my teachers that one day the anthem would include the line Хранимая Богом родная земля! If Russia and America could ever find a way to put our differences aside and unite in friendship, it would be an unstoppable force for the betterment of the world.

"Are yours forever for all time"? I suppose it's an error.
I've seen another translating "Достоянье" as "dignity" I suppose it might be wrong?
From what I researched it means "property" , "heritage", "possession", "domain"

It would be better if you first learn the Russian alphabet and pronunciation rules, so you don't have to rely on phonetic spelling (which nobody adds because it's too much work).
