If not better, way better, after peart was ruined by the influence of that South American Drummer that tried to change his style, not sure why such a talent as Peart would have listened to him.
Every clip of Todd Sucherman's drumming is a Master Class in its own right. His impeccable precision, time, feel aside, there is not a single stroke that is not deliberate. Every single stroke has a purpose. He just doesn't wing it for the sake of showmanship. This man is out of this world.
Tolga, A Styx Equinox video I was watching triggered this video into my feed. THIS IS GOLD. What a find! Sucherman is so talented, you never get a good look at drummers.
@@scottwhite1963 Let's not get carried away.. I saw them live on the Kilroy tour and being a drummer myself, I could not take my eyes off John. He may not have been as flashy and quick handed as Todd (who is a beast, no doubt) but the enthusiasm with which John played was contagious!! A valid point. Without John, none of this would have existed. That said, as much as I always enjoyed Styx, Todd’s technical mastery exceeds John’s and elevates the great grooves that John laid down.
Todd is freaking awesome. His fill in’s , timing and rhythm is impeccable. Very under-rated drummer at times because Todd is one of the BEST drummers, if not the BEST, in the world !!!!
I met Todd Sucherman in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan on October 30, 2003. I let him know that I was rooting for him to make the cover of Modern Drummer that month. He was happy for who did. Keith Moon! Todd was very kind to me and a humble gentleman. I have nothing but respect for the guy who respects the Styx legacy like he does.
One of a few drummers that understand the true power of finesse . It is all in the wrist . The ability to hold the stick traditional & even up . Many drummers swing for the fences the good ones understand how to build with the song

I've been on festival shows where Styx was the headliner.or co headliner. And the band is sounding better than ever! But Todd is the glue that holds it all together! 🥁😎☮️🥁
Awesome talent, technique, power, and overall off the chain abilities, Todd is in a class by himself! You always absolutely amaze me with your drumming, Todd! You are an inspiration for the drumming community!!!!
Unbelievable talent! I love how he leaves space for the guitar solo and accents the guitarists triplet chops on the bell of the ride. The epitome of a rock drummer!
Todd is a powerhouse drummer with technique and chops for days but unlike so many of these other elite Progressive Rock type drummers, he is a nice guy and great teacher.

Wow!! Todd is freaking incredible. He reminds me of Neil Peart, with how technically sound his playing is. He is by far the best rock drummer playing these days.
Bravo 🙌 as a cover band drummer for 50 years, cymbal technique is so critical and no one displays it better and I wish I could’ve ended every song like that but playing 45 songs a night…well people don’t want to hear it
Does anyone else think Todd is overqualified for his job?

Todd doesn't, which is why he is brilliant and Tommy Shaw is a monster.
I could watch Todd play the ride cymbal all day.
yea the work he does on the bell of that ride cymbal is amazing and adds so much!
Why, in the HELL, would anyone put a thumbs down to this incredible performance!

How is the drumming going? Learning and having fun? Goodluck
The ease with which he flicks his right wrist to hit that crash cymbal is just beautiful.
