Great list! Glad to see Gateways get some love. That to this day is my favorite Morbid Angel album that never gets half the recognition it deserves. The guitar riffs are insanely good, and Erik Rutan really added a lot on that album. I always preferred the Tucker era overall over the Vincent era, but love most all of their albums.

Thanks. I knew something was wrong with calling it Tropicana. Trocadero was the place. With mirrors on both sides of the walls and those two or three steps going across near in front of the stage.
Slayer 'A Week In The Abyss' 7 date tour before releasing Seasons In The Abyss was at there late 1990. The kids tore the plumbing out of the bathroom upstairs and the balcony flooded over.
The show ended with Slayer playing Raining Blood as everyone was told to leave and not drink the water coming down.
The Trocadero was closed for remodeling because of all the damage. The metal years ended after that and went to Green Day, Nirvana, Soundgarden etc...

Besides the few songs on Insanus that were different the other songs are just as good as anything on Domination and Covenant, I can see why many cringed at first listening but didn't give the other tracks a fair chance. They kicks ass. Morbid had always had experimental music on their records and Insanus just did it a little more. Covenant is their greatest record hands down. I love every album they put out but Covenant is one of the best metal albums ever released.

Such a wide swing in quality. I never listen to my bottom 4, with my top 2 being "classics" IMO.
    9) Illud Divinum Insanus (Easily at the bottom. Also, the Latin is incorrect.)
    8) Heretic
    7) Domination
    6) Gateways to Annihilation
    5) Blessed Are the Sick
    4) Kingdoms Disdained (Nice return to form!)
    3) Formulas Fatal to the Flesh
    2) Covenant
    1) Altars of Madness
Check out David Vincent's newer band Vltimas! Their album from last year is almost as good as the best Morbid Angel stuff.
    Thanks, Pete!

Vltimas is pretty good, Blasphemer is doing the guitar work and he can do no wrong. Even Vincent's vocals are a lot better than I've heard him sound during MA's live shows.

One word describes how bad Illud Divinum Insanus was
    Radikult
Evil D is a big industrial guy (he was married the Genitorturers lead singer at one point) and somehow he convinced Trey that it was a good idea to put this out.
I think Trey would like to pretend that album never happened.

Altars has to be #1 but Blessed is a close 2nd. Saw Morbid at the Marquee in '91. Best death metal show I ever saw. Cancer and Entombed opened. Was intense and violent. David Vincent was looking right at my crew. It was in September so it was like the culmination of a wild and violent summer. We lived for metal, beer, and girls. Anyone in the NY scene back then will understand. We were truly Sworn to the Black!

Basically every dm band on dark descent/20 buck spin take heavy inspiration from Formulas. A Trey Azagthoth solo album pretty much. Killer! My #1.. but Altars is pretty great too.
