LITERALLY good god when using those things it was pure hell, youll fire at a plane which doesnt flare, and the missile will slowly trundle along with 2g of pull before dying, then you send it at a plane with their after burner on and theyll pop one flare and it suddenly morphs into a fucking R73 and pulles 50g and flies into orbit, but yeah russian bias or whatever, now excuse me as i go to get slaughtered by an AIM9L from 10 km away despite me turning off afterburner, dumping 30 flares and pulling hard

I swear to god, in the hands of a skilled M2K-5F player, these missiles will do some funky shit when paired with an HMD. Was doing some sim dogfight practice with a friend and he took a shot tangential at 640m distance with a 25 degree vertical angle to cover, while I'm moving at 710km/h in a rate. We both thought "Naw, ain't no way that pulls even with the buff". Oh boy were we wrong... Thing pulled the most BS tight turn I have ever seen from a non TV missile and was barely able to pull inside proxy range before cutting my tail off. Shit is WACK
yeah there's a weird middleground where super modern missiles even without thrust vectoring can just pull mildly high-off boresight shots its crazy. supposedly the AAM-3 is meant to have similar performance but the bug reports are still going through
@@blessthismessss AAM-3 absolutely has HOBS capability. Not quite the same turning radius as Magic-2, but insane none the less. It can roll to optimum positioning to pull Max-G and has a seeker that operates in a similar fashion to Stinger
@@ghosta2608 I mean, I've found my Aim-9M's to be rather strong. They aren't exactly HOBS capable, but it's still agile enough to be hard to deal with when it has good launch parameters. That and the tracking suspension gives it superb flare resistance against targets at ranges where R-73 and Magic-2 would bite off on the first flare. They're good at different things
They're still stupid fast despite the burn time. They're basically python 3's but with irccm actually listed in their info. Python's have a good amount of flare resistance from rear aspect within .7 miles lol

before the update you could launch within 2.5km and get a kill (as long as they dont preflare) but now it's changed to about 1.2km if you want to get those last second launches (especially if they notice you and start turning). I swear I get more kills 1.2km-ish side/rear aspect with Magic 2 vs R-73 lol
