About Castlevania:
Ayami Kojima is famous for her gothic art and character designs in the Castlevania series. Her works for Symphony of the Night, Dracula X Chronicles, Aria of Sorrow, Harmony of Dissonance, and Lament of Innocence are inspiring. The Castlevania series is a milestone in the metroidvania genre. Ayami's designs are spot on and appealing, with her main inspiration being gothic art. Castlevania's characters have a white tan, while the clothing and background use dark colors to force attention to the lighter area, giving the paintings a realistic touch. Her art often contains religious implications and nudity.

Cool video my friend. I noticed a fan art in 3:56 Also I thought you would mention some of other artists from nowadays that carry his legacy in their art, such as Junki Sakuraba which is illustrating Castlevania Seal of the Eclipse right now. :D
Ah, I didn't know that it was fan art, that's some next level skill though, great eye for catching that. Also, thanks for the suggestion on Junki Sakuraba, that woul've been a great addition to the video!
Great video, I absolutely love Ayami Kojima's art,
awesome video, thanks for sharing
Thanks Whisper!
Great Video!!! Just a slight correction: Aria of Sorrow came before Down of Sorrow, so it's the other way around, she designed the characters for the first game, while DoS later changed these designs to that anime style to try to capture a younger audience
Cool nice catch, thanks for clearing that up!
I love your videos! please continue
Thanks, I enjoy making these but they take a lot of time to make.
Super cool vídeo
what about christopher belmont's redesign?
now i get why im so obsessed with bloodstained
Yeah, the few promotional art that she made are gorgeous indeed.
The Bloodstained art you showed wasn’t actually her work. She did do a kickstarter special slip cover for the game though.
Crap. You are totally correct. I found the correct one. The art shown was from Mana Ikeda and I can't remember which source I used to confirm it at the time.
Greetings, awesome video. Are you aware if there are any art books (not digital) for aria of sorrow, bloodlines, rondo of blood, or symphony of the night?
Yes kind of; There is a book called Santa Lilio Sangre - Ayami Kojima Artworks. This book, however, contains castlevania and personal art and is out of production. That said, there are also 2 specific castlevania artbooks about her works; Dracula x chronicles artbook and the artworks of castlevania, Japanese only. And they are quite thin and produced around 2012 or something.
Metroidvania takes half of its namesake from Castlevania. But Castlevania is FAR from the initiator of the genre. I believe Xanadu was the first Metroidvania to come out, though Brain Breaker was in development earlier. Plus there is the other half of the namesake. Metroid and Super Metroid, both of which came out long before Symphony of the Night, which was the first Castlevania game to use the Metroidvania formula.
