A simple solution: Derby - first Saturday in May Preakness - first Saturday in June Belmont - first Saturday in July This will ensure full, star-studded fields in all three races. We need to stop clinging to the current tradition and do what's best for the long term growth of the sport. In fact, having the races a month apart will make the TC harder to win, not easier, since the Preakness and Belmont fields will be more competitive.
Not a bad idea; many quality stakes horses that didn’t perform well in the Kentucky derby and those that weren’t ready for the Kentucky derby should have been well rested and ready for the Preakness race; and the Belmont Stakes.

running the longest race, Belmont, in the oppressive heat of August? I don't think that would be a good idea.
I think it's ideal for the horses, but not as a Triple Crown ... the spacing makes them into really 3 races that don't tie together
cant wait to run in derby cant wait to pass preakness
offer Kentucky derby winner a guaranteed appearance fee
or 1st sat in may memorial day 4 of july
Will Encino be in the preakness?
No out for another month at least
hes out of training for 30 days
Hey buddy you don't know which horses from derby are going to Preakness.
I haven't seen any connections from the derby horses say they are going but I'll stay on top of the updates
@@HorseRacingDaily thanks for keeping us updated I'll like and subscribe.
Why not just push Preakness to 3weeks, then 3 weeks to Belmont?
i think 3 weeks might still be short. I think a month would be the perfect spacing the trainers want
@@HorseRacingDaily pretty hard to see the 3 races as a TC over that period of time. Hard to keep up that tight connection over 3 months
Serra Leone should have been disqualified
And placed third?
Forever young had it
@@moa3008
Yes third, he'd be placed behind the horse he impeded the most.
If Sierra Leon was Bob Baffert horse then would have been disqualified. No doubt.
Look out for Muth in the Preakness.
Mystic Dan wont run and nor should he
its looking like hes going to
@HorseRacingDaily kenny sounded more optimistic today than yesterday but if I were him I'd save em for the Belmont
Kenny will try to get a crack at the triple crown. It will be a tough task for Mystic Dan.
@thegodfather7927 very tough with Muth lying in wait. It's not worth it
@@bnegs521: Yes, Muth is well rested and for sure Bob Baffert prepares him well for the Preakness. Bob owns the Preakness with 8 win.
