2012 Mercedes GLK X204 722.9 Transmission Service (Fluid and Filter).

I change the (original?) fluid in my project 2012 GLK 350 RWD, along with the filter, etc. I show you all the tools and supplies needed to do the job easily in your garage / driveway.
A glitch in my process (neglecting to fully seat the drain plug standpipe) turns into an opportunity to see whether the standpipe can be reseated without dropping the pan again (spoiler: you can!).

FYI, if your GLK is a 2010 (or earlier if not US) model, you will need to buy the MB 236.14 spec (red) fluid, and the recommended fluid change is ever 40,000 miles. You'll need the white or black drain plug stand pipe.
If your GLK is a 2012 or newer model, you will use the MB 236.15 (blue) spec fluid, and your fluid change interval is every 70,000 miles. You'll need the green drain plug stand pipe.
If your GLK is a 2011, you need to determine if your car / transmission has the A89 option or not. If your car was produced AFTER 6/21/2010, it should have the A89 option, and will use the blue fluid. The "newer" transmissions have the same deep "ovular" dimples in the transmission pan that you see in my video. The older ones (red fluid transmissions) have shallower "dimples".

Two questions, (for the cost concious) can you re use the old standpipe, and can you reuse the filter if it's the metal mesh type (back flush it in fluid)? If not, no worries.

I don't see any reason you couldn't use the old standpipe as long as it wasn't damaged when you push it over during the draining process. But there's no way I'd reuse the filter - they're not at all expensive, and anything you can do to keep the fluid clean and fresh is the best thing you can do to keep the car on the road for hundreds of thousands of miles.

@@user-nv9ug9wt3e they're available from all the usual suspects, such as FCP Euro (search for "transmission overflow plug", and make sure you get the right one for your car). IIRC, the 2010 and early 2011 models use the black and white plugs, while the later 2011 and on use the green plug. There is more info on this in my comments on the video.

All of the GLK models - and a host of other MB vehicles - use the 722.9 transmission. So the process should be essentially identical. I believe that the drain plug stand pipe varies from model to model, and there are internal differences between years, but the fluid change process should be the same. Of course, make sure you get the right fluid (see my comments on that in my video's description).
