Played almost nightly from 1999 to 2004 when I got married. My brother got married the same year and we ran a CS server. Both our wives considered CS to be major competition and there was quite a lot of friction which almost led to divorce for both of us. Finally gave up CS gaming in order to save our marriages. Still married in 2022, but DAMN, I do miss those days.
I've been playing CS for 20 years, I'm 30 now. Probably gonna be one of my favorite games for life.
Not with the _massive_ amount of cheaters today...

I remember the hard time it was for me to get used to 1.6 after so many years of 1.5, little details like relocating guns on buy menu and a whole new recoil and aiming system.. those were beautiful days : )

The biggest problem post-1.5 is the loss of speed after you jump and the lack of aim when you're in the air. Those two prior to 1.6 allowed you to have a lot of fun and added to the skill ceiling
I remember playing 1.6 for so many hours. It felt like yesterday I was playing this. No game has ever came close to being this amazing in my opinion.

Maybe. My fondest memories are of 1.5 though. And certainly not after they patched the awp in 1.6 so you couldnt remove the fire delay by switching back and forth to your knife/pistol.
One thing that gets missed in todays multiplayer is how CS had hosted rooms that a player base would frequent. You'd get to know those players. It wasn't just a random set of nobodies every round focusing on grinding your level or cosmetics or w/e.

Brings back memories, me and some mates discovered cs at a LAN computer place in mega bowl, so much nostalgia looking back id love to do it all again, think im the only one who still plays these days over 20 years later. ill never stop playing it, Half Life and Counter Strike was like my child hood growing up, im so glad i found them.

Cs 1.0 was incredible. True nostalgia for me. I was 15 and obsessed with this game.
The 3rd grade, 1999/2000, after the school we used to go to the local netcafe and i remember when they got this. Oh man....We had to start Half Life and to play CS we had to go to custom game and start CS from there. I am this old.
It was the best, sometimes we managed to gather like really a lot of us and we played 8vs8 or so....to this day i love maps like Italy, Militia, Mini Militia, Backalley, Torn, Survivor, Nuke, Siege, Rotterdam, 747, Assault, Aztec , cbble,....and my favorite was Estate and Office. Oh these were the days! That thrill dude. I miss it so bad. Now i am 30 years old and from time to time i play 1.6 but its not as good as when we played with classmates and friends in the netcafe. I played CZ and Source too, CS:GO as well. But it havent grown on me really.... Source was solid tho.

Oh man, i miss my childhood when like 7, 8 or sometimes even more met at my friends place, he had internet and also CD burner and fastest pc, none of us others had this back in the days. He was great and his patents too, they let us occupy their entire flat, we brought comps , monitors, keyboards and mouses, headphones , connected everything with lan cables and we had these lan parties. I fear my kids will never know this.

I used to play this 8-10 hours a day when it was beta and i don't regret it at all.... When you could sprint like insane speed (they obviously nerfed that, and you could plant the Bomb anywhere on the map lol, plus other awesome things) I even played with Cliff and Goose. Any old WEW or LAN members around?
