  • My thoughts on why its so important to keep your arms straight whilst slaloming. It seems so simple but can be tricky to attain! As always let me know what you think!

Hey Rob! Your instructions are clear, concise, very helpful and EXCELLENT!!! I took a lesson or 2 back in the 80s and learned a lot, and your instruction videos are amazing and a reminder of “the best body position.” I’m no longer skiing, but have been someone who “knows what the technique is,” and shares what I know. When asked, I will share what I’ve learned, and now I will recommend your videos, as you are a great instructor. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this platform! Oh, and one thing that was most important for me to remember when I was skiing was “don’t bring the handle to your hips… bring your hips to the handle!!!” Handle to the hips messed up everything for me - bent arms, slack in the rope, breaking at the waist, and the ultimate risk of falling over the front of the ski!!! Yikes!!!

Great explanation Rob, I have had this problem for a looooong time, instead of just pushing my hands down I tried your suggestions today and it did feel better!

Have been skiing for decades (I'm 55) and never had it explained this way! I only knew "handle to the hip". I always struggle with that fear and adjustment coming across the wake. I'm going to work on this this weekend! Thanks, Rob!

You nailed it...TRUST...and is your "mind" ready for the acceleration. Thank you so much!

That’s the tricky bit, relax and let everything fly!!

Use me as an 'Ok' tally 😂 this is so sick though! Being confident in your position at the end of the turn, knowing that you can handle the load and acceleration that's to come, is why slalom is so addicting! Now I just have to get my mind right to handle the intensity it takes to get through the course at the short lines!

Great. You are talking about hands very well. But how about balancing between the front and rear foot. Can you show it?

Hi Rob great video - totally agree with the trust/fear of letting go and relaxing arms. Any suggestions to improve this? Lean drill?

I try my best to be on edge of my ski when I am going through the wakes, but it is jumping me like a rock!!! I don’t know to rid of that and being nice and smooth… :-(

Ugh, a talking head with NO video demonstrating what you are talking about. No... just no. Doesn't matter what you are saying, we don't want to watch you stand there and talk.

Thanks Jay. I am working on adding more video that shows what I’m trying talking about. However people often don’t their want video’s shown on CZcams and being talked about. But if you would like to send me some videos that I may be able to use in the future that could highlight something to work and help out some other people that would be appreciated!

@@RobHazelwood I like your videos just as they are; for me (not for everyone), showing the technique slowly while on land (something I was taught to do with rope/handle tied to a tree or pole) allows me to see what you are talking about. Then when you include a short video I can see how you apply the technique. My instructor in the 80s told me to practice on land before trying it on the water. It worked for me, but may not work for everyone. PS: I am/was a recreational skier only.
