Thank you for all the information and your wishes regarding the future Canon R1. Your points on the new technologies and intelligent autofocus are very interesting. However, I noticed that most online discussions give the impression that the R1 will only be aimed at sports photographers. It's unfortunate that the potential of the R1 for wildlife photographers isn't highlighted more. With its advanced features, it could be a real game-changer for them too. My pleasure! I wish and hope they put this tech in the camera. I think it would make photographing and filming wildlife so much more interesting. It does seem like the Canon R5 MKii will be a more superior wildlife photography camera. What would really set this camera apart from being mainly sports is a higher megapixel sensor. If they add a 45mp stacked sensor with better dynamic range then any other camera out there it’ll be a top tier wildlife camera.

I've had an R5 for over 3 years now and it's the first camera body where I just haven't felt compelled to upgrade. It's been fantastic. But naturally I'm super curious what the R1 will actually do. I don't enough wildlife or sports photography to justify the expected $6000 price tag, but I can't wait to see results from it from people who try it out. I do love the idea of a camera learning your style and helping out.
Oh, the other thing is that despite all the auto focus improvements, I've really gotten into adapting old manual focus lenses to my R5 so perhaps I'm not currently the target demographic!

Yeah the $6K price tag is steep which is why I’m hoping the specs blow me out of the water lol. If not, I’ll be looking at the R5mkii or an R5 once the prices drop. I would to start having these cameras learn their photographer though. Partnering with open AI I think would be a great start

No sir , for BIFs and wildlife a 30mpxs sensor won’t cut it. I am so disappointed with Canon for taking such long time to get this done and having us wait for it just to see another 30mpxs sensor!! Nothing left to wait for now I guess , it’s gonna be the Nikon Z9 for me at least!

My thoughts too if those specs turn out to be real. The rumored 30mp/s is supposedly false as well as all the other leaked specs. For now we’ll just have to wait until the Olympics, that’s when more information will come out.

@@NickBoris1 I believe formal specs will release a bit sooner than that, but if 30 megappicles is true then I am done with Canon , they have been lagging behind Nikon since the 5dMK IV released and still haven't caught up yet its been frustrating to say the least. Running out of patience.
