I too would like to comment on how friendly the French doctor seemed. Especially when he said he has a king sized bed for "two or three people".
Parisians know what’s up
Lmao
@@LoganGraceHope So did I! Lol
For Saturday morning when the toddler climbs in with Mom and Dad.
So glad I wasn't the only one to pick that up 😂 2 or 3 ppl.
This guy at the end seems so friendly especially when he was showing us his toilet paper cloud 🤣
And big bed that can fit three in it ahaha
Haha agree!
And with the glow in the dark tree 😂🙌🏻
I like how he says the bed was good for 2 or 3 people, yea buddy, we get what you're into. ;)
@@Rye_Toast very french indeed
I love how everyone is proud of their plants ❤️🌱
I don't think I've ever heard of an ER doctor having time to be an actor on the side! Also that girl living in a tiny room but still committed to fitting a pole in there is a mood. Parisians really are a different breed ahah
I was surprised that someone managed to fit a pole (and somehow use it without injuring themselves) into a 11m² apartment but then I remembered I have a small trampoline in my 10m² student dorm lol. Tours of small apartments are always so fascinating because they clearly show what kind of hobbies and lifestyle the inhabitants prioritize whether that's exercise equipment, plant babies, creative toilet paper arrangements or the big bed that fits two to three people ;) Bigger apartments are often a bit more about following trends or trying to impress visitors.
I love seeing this! They are homes and not just anonymous apartments! So nice of people to share!
This series is so great to watch! Some suggestions I would really like to see done are Helsinki, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Vancouver, Nairobi, Lagos and Cape Town :)
These people are so lucky to have bathtubs in their apartments! I live in France (not Paris though) and have never seen a bathtub in an apartment unless it was crazy expensive. For Paris, these are all nice, reasonable apartments.
Really? It's quite common in new condominiums to have bathtubs.
@@user-xg6zz8qs3q maybe I've only seen old ones lol
@@rachelolsen3428 I lived in Provence and I had bathtub in 2 apartaments
"king size bed for two or maybe three persons..." the frenchest thing anyone could say.
I'm french and I have absolutely no clue of what made this sentence french as hell XD
EDIT : Oh yeah i'm tired but the beauf humor, I get it. Shame on me
@@pyxelly0506 🤣
Is it crazy that I'm thinking all of this is really reasonably priced?
yes lol, my boyfriend and I live in a 100m2 (1100 sqft) appartment for about 700€/month (about 800 US dollars).. Populat cities are crazy expensive.
it is compared to where I live
Oh yeah, I can’t believe Seattle is so much more than Paris
@@MbeHappYMiam2 I get that it’s still very expensive to live in places like Paris but I mean come, the price is definitely worth it for living in one of the grandest and most popular cities in the world. The extremely high quality of life in Paris compensates the small living area (at least for me it does).
@@Christian-cb9jr yeah I agree you definitely pay extra for the city where the appartment is (and obviously it is normal!) But I've been to Patis many times and I disagree with you saying you get "extremely high quality of life" (I mean its obviously good because its in a rich europe country, but not better (honestly probably worse) than many other places with much better prices)
The bed is for 2 or maybe 3 persons. Well okay. 😅
As someone from the US (west coast), Paris is pretty inexpensive in comparison which is surprising
It might have something to do with the salaries. One of my (french) friend living in LA earns approximately 40k$ more than me a year for the same kind of job (and the exact same level of studies). So rent seems less expensive here but we get paid less so at the end of the day I guess it’s the same. I could be wrong tho.
Yes, payment. We are living in germany, but close to Berlin which gets more expensive every year. My husband has a salary of somewhat over 40k €, which is quite good around here. Normal wages for average people are about 20-30k (1500-2500 per month are livable wages, though not very good). That would be laughable in the US, from what i am hearing. So, it would be better to compare how much percent of a wage goes off for rent.
@@awsme9tyone 30-40k is normal salary for US too for entry level positions
@@Boltercon 30-40K is not an entry level salary in Europe.
@@Boltercon 40k is the approximative difference between mine and my friend’s salary. Also I’m not a junior (been working for 7 years) and I have several master degrees so yeah, our incomes are lower (mainly because of our social security as you might know but it could aslo be because University - and even our « grandes écoles » sometimes - is less expensive in France than in the US which mean that people with a high level of studies are pretty common in France so there’s no point in paying us a lot more for the compagnies).
9:40 anyone else get a laugh at what he was implying or am I the only one enjoying the Doctors dirty humor?
I came to the comments to see if anyone else picked up on that
?????
hehe, yes 😁I am glad to hear I am not the only one
3 is not always a crowd.
Definitely xD
I did like the ER doctors apartment. It definitely has some eccentric personal touches, including the little garden! Nice touch!
To understand relative costs it would be nice to know what percentage of income these rents represent in different cities. How much of people’s income do they need to put just towards housing when they are young?
Agreed, anyone who has lived in one of the world's major urban centers understands how critical this is in those urban centers.
Agree! It's easy to say that the cost is not as expensive as NYC or other parts of the US, but perhaps the salaries aren't as high in Paris. So relatively it is still expensive.
Yeah, the cost of living is so much related to the salary you make... Like the average salary in NYC is 80K$ and in Paris it's 47K€ (around 53K$)
@@amandalong220 Absolutely french salaries are a lot lower compared to US
@@amandalong220 It's like comparing apples to oranges. The French don't have huge student loan debt, for example. Their health care is essentially free. Many factors to consider.
More of these please!!! And more frequently..so many suggestions - Amsterdam, Accra, Madrid, Reykjavik, Hong Kong...etc etc!!!!! Keep them coming :-)
You guys should do Cape Town!! The apartments are amazingggg in the city and so much cheaper in comparison to American and European housing!
I personally would love to see that
I have seen some videos from South Africa of people's homes- even the most poor person have these sweet brick houses with colorful walls!
no mor water crisis?
@@bstr-ey6wl nope
Yeah? But can one go outside at night and not constantly worry about being killed?
Toronto, Vancouver you can pay $1800-$2000 CAD monthly for a 1 bedroom place.
California you can pay $2000 USD monthly for a room in a house
Loooove seeing how other people live and their personalities? It's refreshing to see smaller apartments.
Love seeing apartments around the world. Keep up the great job! Do more frequent videos !
The best video of this series. Period.
That's cuz they show one apartment at a time. Before it was clips of each
Wow the rent is so cheap in Paris, comparing to Vancouver and Toronto Canada, it is ridiculous how high the housing cost can get.
Whatttttt? Thats crazy. So how much for a 2 bedroom apartment??
@@mmconceicao can easily get to 2600+ Canadian dollar
Income is lower
Compared to Vienna it´s a lot more expensive though. My partner and I spend around 750€ rent on our 53m² apartment. Paris is one of the most expensive cities in Europe. ^^"
it's far cheaper than Dublin, Ireland too! One bed apartment here is €2000
“One little pumpkin” 😂
This was nice .. I'm surprised no one had loft beds....the doctor had some good space ...
Thanks for sharing ...
Make this a series please. I’d love to see apartments around the world. 🥺🥺🥺🥺
It is a series. It’s been going on for over a year.
He said the bed is good for 2 - 3. Interesting.
Really love these videos that showcase the world and what it is like in other countries! Hope you make many more!!
The rents are SO affordable! Nothing like I imagined. In my Scandinavian city a studio of 40m2 in the center would be 1300€.
Haha I love that glow in the dark toilet paper tree
I’m not usually big on tiny apartments but I love the tiny apartments in Paris. When I visited there I did lots of Airbnb’s in Paris and it was just so enjoyable. I also stayed in the outskirts of Paris which I liked too as it wasn’t the main part of Paris depicted everywhere.
Wild to me that they have private showers but shared toilets. If you made space for one, I would have though they might as well make space for the other.
It has to do with the plumbing required. Some "chambres de bonnes" have loos but this is made possible with an electric motor that reduces the waste to a liquid that can flow through the sink/shower pipes. It's really, really loud, so somewhat embarrassing!
@@sarahpeart6500 interesting…
That's because the renters are living in very old buildings that date prior to indoor plumbing. When the owners turned those large buildings into tiny apartments they sometimes got impractical results, especially if they were thinking "the more apartments, the more rent money".
I know. I would end up peeing in the shower. Who wants to get dressed and walk to some common area in the middle of the night?
@@tellthetruthna8523 Tmi, dude, but you do you. 🤣🤣👍👍
i want to be friends with all 3. i love the last bed where you can keep the storage like under the bed that is reallyyy helpful if you have a small space
What a dream to be living in Paris with your best friend. Their apartment eww so cute!
Aot. #1 - You could make great use of a piece of wood large enough to cover the washing machine and use for meal prep. Near the top this cutting board, drill a hole, so you can hang it on the wall, when you're using the machine.
Great idea
2 bedroom for 1500 is amazing wow
In Cullman, AL you can get a three bedroom two full bathroom home for $750 / month. But then again who the heck wants to live in Cullman? 🤔😕🤨
Wonderful. Love seeing these apartments. I especially like the doctor’s apartment at the end. So small and compact and yet it seems spacious and nicely done. His bathroom with toilet paper and the trees were a work of art. 😄😄.
Beautiful floors, windows, and view for #1, great use of space for tour #2, and fun funky toilet paper cloud for #3! Lovely spaces, great tours!
Sharing a toilet with people you don’t know on a daily basis. Nope!
People commonly do this in college here in the US...
@@missalicesmiles RIGHT? And people do that in office buildings, restaurants, hospitals...
@@EMSpdx I'm pretty sure they mean in regards to home living
@@ig3815 but people do flatshare and have to share bath, shower and toilet - it's not a new thing.
@@JessicaMiller-pc4dj ok when did i say they didn't? Or that it's a new thing?
So interesting and well produced! 👍😊
Why did "one little pumpkin" sound so cute. LOL
Ok the one lady who was an “intimacy and violence coordinator” and also a boxing coach and also an aerial artist needs to do a more detailed video on the various ways she makes a living.
I used to be a Realtor, just so I could look at houses. I'm retired, and I miss seeing houses! Especially houses with personality, not just the cookie cutter 3/2 with attached garage.
The dude is sooo friendly
Agreed. He seems so genuinely nice.
Thanks for showing your homes!!
Phoebe: Actor, performing artist, intimacy and violence choreographer, boxing and weightlifting coach, arial artist. That's a heck of a résumé.
This is a very good and well done video however I think you should a part 2 with the 16th arrondissement which is really expensive and luxurious and the appartement still have that old style, Montmartre which is the artsy part of Paris and a lot of creative people live there & of a "hotel particulier" and la Défense which is the modern part with glass buildings. I know those can be more pricey but it's also a side of Paris !
Not really buzzfeed’s age demographic to be dropping 4-5K on rent however. It’s not even what the average renter would pay.
Beautiful souls - all three of them.
I think it is important to live like you are living (small, shared space that requires privacy and convenience tradeoffs) when you are young. When you get older you have less tolerance for this sort of adventurous arrangement.
I’m happy to stay n my little farm in Texas! Room to roam, at very reasonable price.
I would be happy to show how it is to live in Vienna, Austria as a medical student!
Oh I’m so interested, could you be so kind and share? Thanks 🙏
Welcome to my home town :))
Loooove this! But very expensive indeed. I live in wales uk, and I only pa £450 a month in a 2 bedroom house with 2 toilet, a living area, a spacious dining and a kitchen, fully furnished house. I also understand that Paris is a sought after location, so yeah, location does matter a lot.
@chanceof__rain well it definitely varies in any country. London is gonna be a lot more expensive than rural Scotland for the same size house. It’s all got to do with supply and demand.
That's actually not a bad price to rent a two bedroom house for 450 pound sterling a month that's like $764.89 in Canadian currency. You can't even get a one bedroom apartment for $1000 a month in Canada it's like $1200. A two bedroom apartment in Canada would cost you like $1600 or more.
I can’t believe how cheap it is to live in Paris! I’ve always wanted to live there, so maybe dreams do come true
Lol it ain’t cheap we don’t have nyc salaries here 😂
Don’t be mistaken, it’s not cheap at all 😭 but sometimes you can find landlords who do not exaggerate the price but it’s rare
@@evr134 it’s so cheap compared to US rents, in downtown Phoenix AZ it’s $2,200 for a one bed one bath, San Francisco is like 3-4,000 for a one bed one bath, and that’s really on the low end for SF rents, Seattle is same story and same with all over cities pretty much
@@tc3693 but how much is the average salary there ? Cause it always depends on this
I paid 800 dollars just for a little room and bath in Houston, was horrible.
1:28 Vinyl Machine......😁
Haven't heared that before.
Cool appartement 👌
Ah yes the veenal machine, cute.
thank you very much. I am going to move there in a few years!
I love seeing how people live.
“The coffee machine of course” I love that! And of course un baguette
How adorable !!!!
i missed this series sm omg
Have you ever done a video about Buenos Aires, Argentina? I live here and I'd like to take part of one of your vids.
Phoebe is a cool Plant Parent. The windowsill is looking brilliant!
So they put a sink and shower in the servers quarters but no toilet? Why not do a wet bath?
Can’t wait to see the Toronto version of this! Cz I thought Toronto spaces were small but small is relative
Very cool to see
Damn the place look like a palace soooo lovely!!!!!
Nice sharing 😍😍👍
I'm a struggling artist living in an embarrassingly small apt in Los Angeles but, after watching this video, I feel less sorry for myself. Now, the top dungeon apartment prize goes to Paris.
Id love to see what two story houses look like around the world
Why two storey houses? Two stories aren’t very popular in some places. In New Zealand 99% of houses are only one storey. Only rich people have two storey.
I want to live in apartment no 1, so cute!
Beautiful
Okay a laundry ladder is such a good idea though I’m gonna get one
So lucky to be leaving in the Philippines. Our houses and apartments here are way cheaper. We have a 60SQM 2 bedroom house rental that only costs $100/mo.
Those prices are a LOT more reasonable than I expected/remember. I've been to Paris several times and have stayed in apartments via Air BnB and HomeAway. I always feel like a fat American coming back home; I have a 1500 sq ft house just to myself. Sometimes I wonder how long it would take me to adjust living in an Parisian apartment.
My makeup can barely fit in those apartments! 😳 I definitely can’t fit!
My friend lived in a small studio, slightly bigger than this one on Manhattan's Lower East side back in 2002, she paid $800 back then for it. So Paris is catching up to Manhattan prices 20 years later!
Everyone is talking about how cheap these apartments are but they seem expensive to me! I would say $600 is expensive for a studio apartment.
it would be cool to see apartments in australia or new zealand
Expect to see double the size of these apartments
@@mariagabbott yes, and 6 times the price 🤣
funny, next video I have in recomendations is about Sydney - it is dated 1 year ago, but it exist :)
In New Zealand I think apartments are only common in Auckland, most people live in houses. Usually young people might rent a room in a families house or rent a house with their friends and split the rent.
Cole Porter's former home is very near Phoebe's apartment. It looks like a country estate with a huge garden. You'll never find it, not even on Google Maps, but it's at the end of an alley behind a stone entrance. 40€ million.
The price makes me undo my obsession to this city
just come to paris and have all of your expectations crushed.
It's worth visiting but I recommend being rich to live there
@@renatasuprayogi Paris has a special feeling about it, and some beautiful architecture/sights, but it definitely has a darker side too. You lose some of the romance for it after you have spent some time there. So much history in all of Europe. The US has an entirely different feeling.
Florian is cute. I mean, I had to say it. A Frenchman who works for EMS and is an Actor? Ding, Ding, Ding! 😂
ask a check up! he have a bed for two or three people ;)
I study in Greece and I pay 300€ for a 68m² fully furnished new apartment! So these prices are really unfamiliar to me but all of the apartments look stunning😍

Why is my 1 bedroom 1 bath rent as an American nurse double the rent of the ER doctor in Paris?
Wow.. Paris is expensive 😮
For around 800 USD, you'd get a big spacious 3/4 bedroom house in Nairobi Kenya🇰🇪
I'm a nice neighborhood and all.
and the standard of living there is?
What people don’t get is that if you lived in Paris you’d be on a much smaller Salary and actually find these prices quite expensive. European salaries are much less than US. There is a general salary for a type of job rather than extra for the industry, like SF tech, and big city expenses. If I paid $2,600, in Ireland I’d be on the breadline but I know my job gets paid more in the likes of SF. In Dublin, Ireland I’d be on same salary as someone working my job in the sticks i.e. no extra for Capital city living expenses.
That’s not really true cos you’re compensated in the fact that living costs for things such as food and healthcare is cheaper
Private health care in Ireland is extremely expensive. There is no Dublin weighting at all for salaries. A cappuccino is about €3.50. Renting privately in Dublin especially is very expensive. Average rental for a two bed house near me is €2000 pcm.
@@aduraedosa do you live in Ireland? I’m guessing not because rent and food are expensive here. And house and especially car insurance are also very dear.
Would be nice if you did Stockholm! I volunteer!
Lol did you guys forget about rent in Hong Kong? For a studio less than 200sq ft, a minimum would already be USD1000 😂 That's my city for y'all
At 7:02 is the famous singer Norah Jones famous for the song I Don't Know Why. Good to see her living in Paris. Wee Wee Wee.

toronto renting says hi
Lol at them saying how expensive it is when you couldn't get a studio for $1700 in a lot of major US cities
I pay almost $2600 per month in San Francisco, walking distance from downtown. These apartments are way cheaper. I want to live in Paris! Lol

@@eimeargargan2071 Yea you get paid less but you also get healthcare and free college education. I’m America you have to pay for those separately sometimes. The healthcare won’t cover major things if you get it from your job.
@@nostalgia545 Publlc healthcare in Ireland is crappy and my parents have paid private healthcare their whole lives and now I as an adult do to. Tuition may only be or as we call College registration fees may only be €3k per year but accommodation is not free and costs thousands for the 9mths you live there. How is this free College?! People have student debt here too... Also we have a housing crisis so bad that some college students have resorted to staying in hostels or B&Bs as nowhere else to stay or do a 3hr commute, each way. Do your research please before commenting.
@@eimeargargan2071 Complaining about paying €3k per year versus $4K every three months is nothing. Housing costs money everywhere not just in Ireland. We have to pay tuition and housing on top of health care.
