Me too, almost exactly… ‘cept haven’t seen him live. He alone pretty much, through New Country, got me beyond the not-small wonderfulness of rock’n roll back when I was about that age 13-15. 59 at present.
Also a JLP fan. A friend in 1975 introduced me to Jean Luc via Imaginary Voyage. " Across the Milky Way," with JLP Echoplex and sustain- SOLD! 47 years later- phew! Seen live 3x. The most important live show was October 10, 1978, Tower Theater, Upper Darby ( Philadelphia city line nearby ) The Tower with it's old time theater acoustics was selected by JLP to record live. Two shows early and later both recorded. It was the Cosmic Messanger tour. FABULOUS! First, both shows were recorded for the KING BISQUIT FLOUR HOUR live radio to be rebroadcast. Then in 1979, JLP released several of the live performances as JEAN LUC PONTY LIVE. In about 2017, I started checking a company called ' WOLFGANG'S VAULT.' Wolfgang waa a name for Bill Graham the promoter. His company has accumulated 100's of live broadcasts. You pay a $15.00 annual fee and you can hear them all! You can buy a copy of any show for $11. The 2 Jean Luc Ponty October 10, 1978 are on this list- both entire shows! There was one song that was switiched for the second late show... Great concerts! If you really like JLP, check these out!

Jean Luc was kind enough to sign on 8x10 of himself for me saying all the best and I brought my brother backstage cuz I used to sing in that theater and I knew the ins and outs of it. And he my brother was just so blown away LOL I pretty much was too great memories!!!!

Wait....this trio played at Nautica Pavilion in Cleveland?!?!? How long ago...cuz I'm gon smack myself if I didnt attend an I lived there, or smack my friends who did an didnt attend
@Gary McAleer Stanley didn't "lose his art"; apparently you did. An artist's art is whatever s/he chooses to create & present; no matter what direction s/he takes, changes of style, or experiments of whatever type, an artist's art is their own, take it or leave it.
Whatever changes were made for audio codecs to visual and audio here made by CZcams changed my lists. The comments of other account holders online who do not have legitimate accounts are suspect. Music is best regardless of anything.
I loved this trio from day one
A lifetime fan of JLP, since I was 15. Today, I'm 64 and have his entire collection. Saw him live twice.

Loved JLP's music and style since I first heard his music in mid 70s. A master.
Al di Meola and Stanley Clarke are incredible as well.
I could see them in 1995 in Budapest. I didn't know that even after 12 years they'd play together.
“Song to John” great composition I first heard on Stanley Clarke’s “Journey to Love album released in the late ‘70’s
Valla tres monstruos 😀 formidables.
Stanley on upright,how wonderful.
The best combination of musicians of this genre
3 masters!
Three masters of the highest level. RTF and JLP were absolute staples during my college years...fantastic solo works by Clarke and DiMeola as well.
Indeed (who is RTF?). I saw all of them in the late 70's early 80's under different guises. All masters.

Wow! Acoustic fusion! Masterful performance! 👏🎼🎶🎶🎵🎶🎵
I just saw the title and said “Holy Shit!” This is something that should be relegated to worldwide historical importance!
These three giants together again… incredible. I would’ve been so entranced…
This trio was new to me. Holy Flying smoke! Thanks for posting.
Twenty years from now this will still be far advanced, and so forth.

Is it even legal to have this much genius talent all on the same stage? Utterly amazing. It is insanely amazing!!
What a pity that only one CD came out from this line up.
What's the name of the CD? Is it on spotify?
I was there. I won the tickets in a Facebook sweepstakes.
O êxtase ao ouvir tais músicas é indescritível!
Still have my RITE OF STRINGS tee shirt! I saw Jean-Luc Ponty on 4 other occasions before this over the years.

If you compare this trio to Caron, Ecay, Lockwood, what a difference! Here it seems they don't know really decided what to play...

Superb grouping of greats!
Why aren't they doing soundtracks...?
Make the world a Hans Zimmer free zone ..!
Is it me or is Stanley’s volume to low in the mix?
I feel it.... the same way .... ( why i think of Eddie Gomez ?)
definitely too low, ashame. 🙁
It’s probably the low quality of the video. I bet in person is a completely different experience.
I've slated JLP's TCHOKOLA to be played @ my Wake...whether I'm there or no...
Mahavisnu then lives on...
